October 25, 2008 Halloween on the High Seas (2)

This just makes me cry....happy tears but tears! I'd forgotten all about this until I read it again!!!

Father and son who were lost at sea to visit Disney World
Sep 27, 2008

The father and son who were rescued after spending 12 hours drifting in the Atlantic are visiting Walt Disney World as guests of Buzz Lightyear.

Walter Marino and his 12 year old son Christopher were swimming in Volusia County on September 6 when the current took Christopher far from shore. Walter attempted to rescue him and both were swept away.

During the ordeal, Christopher, who has autism, and his father were unable to see each other. They communicated by shouting a favorite phrase from Toy Story. Marino would yell "To infinity" and Christopher responded with "and beyond".

The father/son duo are expected to visit Disney's Hollywood Studios and the Magic Kingdom today.

LOL! And now for the laughter! (bear with me, it's coming)

Tori has the two younger sisters of Isa and Abby over today. Mom and dad are otherwise occupied with a conference at church today, #1 and #2 sisters are at college, and Isa and Abby are at Olympic swim training.

They were playing outside earlier and went to see if the neighbor girls could come out and play. But they weren't home.

Fast foward two hours. The doorbell rings. I'm thinking it's Maggie and Lola from across the street.......but no. It's Ryan and Szebio.

Wait for it.........

THEY WANT TO KNOW IF ED CAN COME OUT AND PLAY!!!!!!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Suzie! You made me cry! :sad1:

;) That was heartouching Suzie, thanks for sharing... :goodvibes

Fave adult drink:
Before dinner: appletini; after dinner: white russian

I'll probabaly try one DOTD, depending on what it is:cool2:

Favorite Disney Movie - Brother Bear, Cars and Fox and the Hound. I like them all I think!

Favorite Adult Drink - I like them all! No really anything with rum is always good. I also like vodka. And a good glass a wine always tastes great.

Okay my family is officially back in cruise mode! I know I have been kind of missing the last few weeks. Even my own family was asking what was up! Just been busy I think.

Anyway, 2 older kids headed off to art museum today(with family members...yay) so hubby and I went shopping. DH got 2 suits, and 3 sport coats. 1 sport coat was picked specifically for the cruise...

We then went to David's Bridal and I ordered one dress. I really liked another but will need to order it tomorrow. I am a happy girl because I am down like 3 or 4 dress sizes! I lost 30 pounds! Yay Me! I can cheer for myself!

Family also decided at dinner what we will be for Halloween. DH will be Darth Vader, the rest of us will be clone troppers, although the 2 year old may be Yoda! I am off to order that now and some stuff from Oriental Trading!

In chat... all by myself...

sing with me now.. :rolleyes1

All by myself....
Don't wanna be all by myself...
Anymore...

:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Where is everyone? Kim DOES NOT want to have to deal with me all by herself... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I'll throw my voice in here, also.

Movie: Four-way tie: National Treasure, Princess Diaries 2, George of the Jungle and Enchanted.

Adult Beverage: Lemon drop martini. I saw this on Oprah and had one at two different places in Chicago while at a nursing convention in May.

Castaway Cay: I love the water in Serenity Bay. To be able to walk out for so far and see the bottom is great. We were looking at huge starfish (brown, because they were still alive). I wear water shoes to keep from stepping on anything (mainly its sharp rocks to avoid there).

Just got back from five hours of shopping to gear up for this trip. Finally found 17-year old niece a dress and shoes for formal night. Got a $210 dress for $71 - and she looks great. When I read about people getting tuxes, I told her it was definitely a dress-up night.

Lynne, congrats on the dress find! That's awesome! Always feels good to get a great deal like that.

Never have made it to Serenity Bay yet. Always had a wee one in tow so I don't know if we ever will!

Good morning to all.

For me my favorite movies would probably be Mary Poppins, Beauty & The Beast and Little Mermaid.

Drinks? For me, my favorite is a good ol' beer. But I do love margarita's and we do try the drinks of the day.

Just looked at my countdown and we are down to 24 days. So when I look at my calendar that is 4 volleyball games, 4 marching band competitions and one anniversary:lovestruc away from vacation. :cool1:

I am so glad to have found other people who are like us and :woohoo: crazy excited about all things Disney. My family and coworkers get tired of hearing me talk about it. So to read your posts, it makes me feel better :) I just wish I was a better writer, like Sarah. My oldest loves to write, but I can't get what I want to say in writing, so if I may no sense, sorry.

We are in room 8014. Right next to Cindy I believe.
Sunday the Catamaran/snorkel
I believe Monday we have Palo at 8:00
Tuesday Tulum ruins
Nothing but relaxation the rest of the trip.

Just can't wait. :cheer2:

wonder how the first Double dip cruise is going ?

Sorry so late but had church this morning and slept in a little bit this morning so

QOTD:

Do you plan on spending time in the adult areas (clubs, Cove Cafe, pool, Serenity bay) or is this your FAMILY vacation that you spend the majority of time together (family beach on CC, pool time all together, etc...)

We do treat these times as our family time, so we do CC at the family beach. But now that we have TWO stops at CC and teens to watch the kiddos, we might try to do Serenity Bay for a while. We do plan on doing the shows at Rockin' Bar D (anyone else want to join us for a group party????), but I'm not one really to do the Cove. I did do the adult pool a bit last cruise but still felt funny without the rest of my family! Not to mention embarrassed by the Thong Girl (no joke!!!) there.

Since we have the opportunity, I think we will try to branch out a bit more but we do love our together time!!!

One day I might grow up into a full fledged DISer but for now, I remain a lowly lurker. However, I have read through alot of the cruise meet stuff and I must say you guys are amazing! The group T-shirt is awesome! What planning and organizing you all have done! I am always amazed when people spend the money that they do and then don't do any research as to how to maximize their vacation! My hubby's co-worker just got back and said that his first Disney cruise was "just alright." He even said that he was "a little bored!" Unbelievable! How could anyone be bored when there is really so much to see and do? In contrast, one of my co-workers just got back and of course, I filled her head with all kinds of DIS board tips and she was so appreciative. She had a great time! People are interesting aren't they?
Well, thanks again for the welcome. I don't think too many people are interested in the Rays, Reef, and Rum Point tour ~ I probably waited too long to ask as it seems like most people have their plans in place by now. Oh well.

Hope you all have a great week!

Kathy

:scared1: OMG have I fallen off into lurkdom? I haven't posted in what seems like ages. Work will slow down in about 3 days and then hopefully go smoother.

I am so far behind in questions of the day. Lets see if I can catch up....

Favorite movie~~ non animated would be original parent trap or enchanted animated would be Mulan or Cinderella

Drink of the day~~ I have tried some in the past and I am sure I will again but I like the fruity drinks

Castaway Cay~~I am really looking forward to parasailing but mostly just relaxing.

Cruise mode~~ I must say I have been productive in the last couple of days
T-shirts check
magnets check
passports and documents check
costumes/formal wear check
FE gifts partly done
packing haven't started
FE need to make
Notify school need to officially do
Hold mail need to do
nametags/lanyards need to laminate

Foods~~I like to try different foods. DH and DD not so much. DS is now starting to try new foods. Which makes DH wonder if he belongs to someone else :lmao:

Looking forward to ~~ a relaxing time away from work with my family No Stress

Adult areas~~ DH and I do spend some time in adult areasbut didnt at castaway cay maybe this time. I say that this vacation is 3 vacations in one- 1 adults 1 kids and 1 family.

Am I caught up yet?

Dana
