Steve--and anyone else who is in the medical profession......Does it sound right to you that Emily's doc would prescribe a glucometer intead of doing a glucose blood test? She will have to check her blood sugar with the meter for I think 1-2 weeks instead of just testing the blood. I think that is a little backwards. I asked the nurse about it on the phone today and she explained it away. Please explain and ease my mind about this. Today was a rough one. I raised my voice at people in the medical clinic and I never do that in public......and it wasn't even these two ladies' fault. It was a moron in the pharmacy. I sent an apology to them later.:upsidedow

Paige,

I'm not in the medical field, nor am an expert in blood testing, but having my dad being a diabetic most of his life (before I was born), I know he had to check his levels a few times a day.

Are they having her take it at certain times during the day? I bet they are trying to get a reading of what times her blood sugar is high and what times are low to see if there is a pattern.

Are they saying anything about possible diabetes?

One test at one time will only give them her levels at the time of the test. I'm sure that rather than having her keep coming back, they will have you/her take the readings and log them. Then send the logs to them to review the numbers.

I'm with Becky, Paige. Can't offer any advice but I can offer these:

 :grouphug:  :grouphug:

Good evening everyone.

Congrats to everyone getting their docs!!! Isn't it soooooo exciting?

Paige, I don't really know anything about that subject but here's a  for your family.

Mike, I can't wait to see you FO hat. That is flippin funny!:lmao: :lmao:

Robin, glad your dad is back with your mom. I'm sure that is a comfort to them to know the other one is near.

A big welcome to all the newbies. I haven't been here much this week. VERY busy at work and at home. Not packing yet just lots to do.

We are definitely dressing up on Pirate night. We can't wait. We will also be dressed as pirates at MNSSHP.pirate: If you're there on the 18th look for the group of excited Pirates running from ride to ride.:cool1:  :cheer2:

Richmond Mike, we also live in VA. It's me DH, DD11 and DD4. We live just north of Charlottesville. I work in Fredericksburg. We are traveling with my coworker and her family and her neighbors family.
Missy (my coworker) and I are fondly referred to on her as the VD (Virginia Duo). I believe Paige and now you and your family has come to our rescue since we are not the only ones from VA now.:thumbsup2

Evening everyone!

I tried on my pirate's outfit this evening. My oldest DD immediately said ARRGH! My youngest, who contradicts anything the oldest says, said "no, mommy not pirate." Too much fun!

Question to eveyone who had received their docs - what color are your luggage tags? Ours are green. I'm just curious if everyone has the same color, or maybe they're color coded someway.

Mike - Your FO hat is just too perfect! Of course, if someone says "fresh one" everytime they see you, could lead to some sort of trouble! :rotfl:

Carrie and minnieandmickey (sorry, I can't recall your name) - hope you both feel better soon! :flower3:

Hi Tina. I'll go check our luggage tags right now. Be right back.

Tina, they are green also. So I don't know if they are all the same or what.

Well, I'm going to bed. Gotta get up early for work. Talk to you all later.

Hi Lori! Thanks for checking. I was just curious. You think it would be easier for the porters if it was color coded by deck or category.

How are you this evening? We've been pretty busy around here too, it's so hard to even pop in for a few minutes anymore. Can you believe our crazy weather? Summer just doesn't want to let go!

As early as this morning Lori? You were up and posting at the "Butt Crack of Stupid"!

(Thanks Karen...I still crack up at that one!):rotfl2:

That is what they did to me first also. Here is how the explain it to me. If they are to take a blood test there is no telling how the result will come out because she could have just eaten something surgary, or within the past few hours had something with protein. Or it could be down because they request her to fast, or she has not eaten recently. Also the amount of exercise she does can effect it. If she has just been physical before the test then that could cause a low reading.

With her testing it, they will have a more accurate result as to what time of day or before or after eating she if effect. If they see something in her results over the week or two then they might order the blood test.
