**October 2016 Check-in!**

Are either of you staying with a good neighbor hotel? We are 16 days out and have yet to receive our tickets... I was told from Disney we should get them around the 3 week mark. Just getting a little nervous, lol. TKS

Hi Minerva -
FWIW we are staying at the Courtyard Anaheim Theme Park Entrance, which isn't a good neighbor hotel. It looks like you have already received some good feedback - hang in there!
Dylan

I agree. Not only are the hours extended and hotels booked up, but even if you look at our check-in list, almost half are just within that week!

I think a lot of schools have all or some of that week off due to Columbus Day on Monday 10/10. We looked at it, but the hotels were already really full and parties sold out. So we are going to try for next year, but not Columbus Day week.

15 days to go and I am stumped on costume ideas- mainly for the 2 year old. His opinion is strong so I think I'm just going to pick something out with little input :) we also bought tickets to the Brick or Treat party at Legoland mainly to just experience it for the four hours not exactly for the trick or treating. None of our time in San Diego allows us to take advantage of a full day there so the 35.00 for the night time event was perfect.

Toiletrie bag is packed and now that it's raining and getting much cooler here in Oregon, it'll be easier to pack some of the summer ish clothes for our visit. I need to start making my lists before I feel like I've run out of time to buy everything we need. I suggested to my husband we just bring enough diapers with us for the airport/flight and buy a pack of diapers for the week we're there down there- instead of lugging a weeks worth of diapers and wipes.

I can't believe this trip is finally happening!

If anyone who is going that second week in October was feeling discouraged about an unusually busy week (like I was!), here's some words of hope....

1. All the on-site hotels are NOT booked. I just did some investigating and there are actually approximately the same amount of rooms available as any other week in October (depending on your date range). If you try to book the whole week, everything shows sold out, but many two night combination rooms are still available.

2. While this weeks parties did seem to sell out more quickly...they are all pretty much sold out now. That weeks parties should be no busier than any other night.

3. There seemed to be speculation that this weeks hours were extended because Disney likely expected high volume visitors. The hours are the same as the week before. While the hours do seem to lessen into the third week, I heard from one CM that that is likely due to disneys attempt to redirect some crowds into the earlier part of October, lure them in with the extended hours, since so many people would tend to go closer to Halloween. Crowd control, basically.

Anyways...I wanted to share because I was feeling discouraged with some of the info out there, as I've spent months and months planning a first ever big family vacation with 10 people.

Enjoy your time at the most magical place and don't stress about potential crowds! :-)

Oops...I was looking at the Sept calendar for Halloween parties! Haha, my bad...definitely not all sold out! Oh well, let's still have a great time!!

I like your attitude! This is how I'm feeling, and I'm not at all concerned about the crowds like previous trips where it may have been busy. There are just too many factors to consider in deciding if a week is going to be busy or not, and I don't feel the week that we're going is going to be the mega-super-crazy level crowds that a lot of people are predicting. I'm predicting the same crowds as any other time during October. Even if it were mega-super-crazy, it's not as if all is lost. We're still at Disneyland! :)

I'm not sure that anyone is really stressing about the crowds...I think its more the fact that we all love talking about Disneyland. As we all wait in anticipation of our time to go, estimating crowd levels is just one more thing we can think/talk about! lol us crazy DISers!

True! I think it was more ME that was stressing! Haha!!

Good point about not stressing! I've mentioned it before, my family is in the minority and we all really dislike the halloween parties. We needed to head to SoCal in Oct, and we've been it is now impossible to avoid halloween parties entirely. CHICAGO CUBS PLAY FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7!!! GO CUBS!!! And, seeing that the party is sold out on the 7th, makes it easy to skip that day, and only go Thursday, Oct 6. Hubby would seriously otherwise be holed up at a bar in Dtw Disney, or at the hotel, or on his phone watching the game, so it works out. We are VERY fortunate that we have the luxury of knowing well be back twice a year for hopefully many more years to visit my FIL & his wife. SoCal is our designated vaca spot so kids can see the grandparents.

I'm very disappointed that the park hours seem so short on Wednesday 10/6, really making me think we'll only go to the parks 1 day this trip. We got 2016 & 2017 passes to Six Flags Great America - maybe we'll head to Magic Mountain that Friday instead, as entrance will be free with our passes. I would much rather be at DL, but even kids 7 & 9 are begging not to be there on a party night. Maybe this is the year to mix it up!

Greetings to others staying at Grand Legacy Oct 5-8-ish, I saw a few ... we'll be the crazy Chicagoans down at the pool super late at night - regardless how chilly the air temp is!!! We go in less than 2 weeks, and we've got so much going on that we won't even pack until the night before. Good thing about having traveled so much with the kiddos, I can get them packed in no time flat & we get to do laundry at FIL on Tuesday of our trip, so that makes it easier to underpack a bit too :-)

So I went ahead and made us an ADR at CC...my son has to experience the joy of a mickey waffle!

I also found a coupon code for the Medieval Times that took the tickets from $69 to $34. I was happy with that, so I purchased tickets for that on our non disney day. It is equal to the cost of a character breakfast...but I think we get more out of this dinner/show than we would at a breakfast, and we don't miss any park time. Add that to CC and BB ADR's, and I think we are set!

I spent this morning printing out coupons that we may possibly use for restaurants on harbor. BOGO & 10% off for Mcdonalds, 10% off pizza press, & 20% off Dennys. When October hits I will probably receive emails for a free entree from Mimi's or maybe some free muffins, and most likely a free grand slam from dennys. We really want to eat in-park only, just for the bubble, but if it starts to get too steep these coupons will come in handy. I used a ton of them in 2012.

ITS GETTING REAL!!! :cool1:
