If anyone who is going that second week in October was feeling discouraged about an unusually busy week (like I was!), here's some words of hope....
1. All the on-site hotels are NOT booked. I just did some investigating and there are actually approximately the same amount of rooms available as any other week in October (depending on your date range). If you try to book the whole week, everything shows sold out, but many two night combination rooms are still available.
2. While this weeks parties did seem to sell out more quickly...they are all pretty much sold out now. That weeks parties should be no busier than any other night.
3. There seemed to be speculation that this weeks hours were extended because Disney likely expected high volume visitors. The hours are the same as the week before. While the hours do seem to lessen into the third week, I heard from one CM that that is likely due to disneys attempt to redirect some crowds into the earlier part of October, lure them in with the extended hours, since so many people would tend to go closer to Halloween. Crowd control, basically.
Anyways...I wanted to share because I was feeling discouraged with some of the info out there, as I've spent months and months planning a first ever big family vacation with 10 people.
Enjoy your time at the most magical place and don't stress about potential crowds!
