***October 2012 Thread*** MNSSHP + Food & Wine - Does It Get Any Better?

I was thinking of trying MNSSHP. Though I was thinking my daughter may be a bit small as she just turned 3. I hear it get super crowded. :grouphug: Any thoughts?

I heard only the character meet and greets are crowded. I heard the lines for rides are non-exsistent.
Is this information correct?
I don't want to pay all that money if it is super packed!:maleficen

That's pretty accurate. The line for HM and Space M can get a small line going, but everything else is pretty much a walk on. The later you can last, the less crowded it is.

So my data to make ADRs is fasting approaching. :cool1: I thought I would post my plan here. Let me know what you think.

Oct 26: Arrival -No Plans

OCt 27: MK: Lunch Coral Reef (Hopefully a dessert party will be offered this day)

Oct. 28: AK: Breakfast Tusker House Dinner: Boma

Oct 29: Epcot: Lunch: Food and Wine Event Dinner: CRT or BoG (if open)

Oct 30: Off Day, MSSNHP in evneing: Lunch: Raglan Road

Oct 31: Epcot: Dinner Bistro de Paris

Nov 1: DHS: Lunch Hollywood Brown Derby (Fantasmic! Package)

Nov 2: Park Undecided: Dinner: California Grill

Nov 3: Leaving - No plans

I am so excited for this trip and to make my dining reservations!

What do you all think of my plan! (Also its only myself and my husband, so the park hopping shouldn't be an issue.)

I can't plan my ADR's until I figure out when the MNSSHP will be.
Oh....I just thought of something. Are all the restaurants open during MNSSHP?

Look at the park hours in Sept and Oct., the days that MK closes at 7pm is usually a party night.

as for the restaurants, my DH and I eat at LTT for dinner on party nights; but I dont think they take reservations past a certain time because of the party.

I wanted some advice from my fellow Oct dissers. We are planning on going to Epcot on Oct 1st, which I know is the 30th anniversary, but I haven't heard much about it. What do you all think? Should I change my plan?

Well, my credit card just started a new cycle so I decided to start paying off expenses. Gonna pay the remainder (after the initial $200 deposit) in thirds.

Resort and ADRs now made! We'll be in parks for 4 days/5 nights before heading out on a 4 night Dream cruise. There are 4 adults and 2 kids, age 8 and 5.5 on their first trip. Adults haven't been since the early 90's!

What do you think of our plans? Any recommendations for CS meals in the parks?

Oct 23: Arrival day. Dinner in DTD....WPE or EoS

Oct 24: MK. CRT lunch @ 1pm. Rest/swim in afternoon at BLT. CS Dinner. Stay for MSEP and Wishes.

Oct 25: EP. Les Chef lunch @ 1pm. Rest/swim in afternoon at BLT. CS Dinner. Stay for Illuminations.

Oct 26: MK. CS lunch. Stay in park...late rest. CG Dinner at 7:30. Hoping to watch Hallowishes from balcony.

Oct 27: HS. CS lunch...either Fairfax Faire or Starring Rolls? No rest today.
Dinner @ 'Ohana at 7:30. Watch Wishes from beach?

Oct 28: Not sure about breakfast. Head to boat!

Plans look great! As for CS places, my favorite in MK is Columbia Harbor House. Cosmic Ray's is pretty good, too. At Epcot, I believe F&W will still be going on; we plan to do the booths for lunch on our Epcot day! Or I've heard good things about Sunshine Seasons. Still looking for a good CS at DHS :confused3...we always do 50's PTC there, it's a can't-miss for us! Have you thought about doing Chef Mickey's for a character breakfast since you'll be right there at BLT? Maybe on that last day before the cruise.

Oh, and smooreo: Any particular reason you're skipping AK? Just curious. It's my favorite park. :thumbsup2

I also think your plans look good!

As for CS, I've had Pecos Bill's, Columbia Harbour House, and Cosmic Ray's at MK. All were very good... I'd go with whichever you're closest to in the park when everyone gets hungry.

Sunshine Seasons at Epcot is also very good. And I've had the CS at Japan and Mexico, again they were great.

As for DHS, the I've had Catalina Eddie's and Pizza Planet. Ate pizza at both places, and while nothing fancy, it was yummy!

Boo! Be Our Guest not opening until the holidays :(
Guess I don't have to worry about that ADR any longer...might "force" me and DH to make a quick weekend trip late this year.

Subbing...
DH, DD and I will be at BLT Oct 23 - 28.
Food and Wine and MNSSHP are both on the agenda!

Dining at 'Ohana and Tokyo Dining on the days that we're not feasting on Food and Wine goodies - I made the reservations yesterday!

I am coming late to the party, but super excited to be here.

We'll be at CR 10/18-10/23.

We are a family of 5, taking our DS, 3, to WDW for the first time. It is everybody's first time at Halloween, though, so we are stoked about the party.

Can't wait!!

Finally have worked out most of our plans, would love some feedback. Have not decided if we will fly or drive. We have always flew before but prices are looking a little steep, we will see if they come down this summer.

Oct 18- arrival day drive to Spring Hill suites and check in (flying will need to do some grocery shopping)

Oct 19- Free breakfast at hotel then seaworld day

Oct 20- free breakfast at hotel, Blizzard beach, Mickey's backyard BBQ at 6:30

Oct 21- free breakfast at hotel, check out, check in at POR boat to DT for shopping and lunch, Epcot and F&W for dinner or explore hotel for the rest of the day

Oct 22- Akershus 8:20 park opens at 9, F&W lunch, break if we need it, either F&W for dinner or Via Napoli at 6 illuminations and park close at 9

Oct 23- 1900 Park Fare 8:00, animal Kingdom opens at 9, counter service lunch, back to room to change after parade or leave clothes in car and change for MNSSHP, counter service dinner

Oct 24- CRT 8:20, park opens 9, counter service lunch, nap if needed, Ohana 5:20, park open until 9

Oct 25- CP 8:20, park opens 9, counter service lunch, Tony's 6( really hoping for BOG though), park closes 7

Oct 26- H&V 8, park opens 9, Brown Derby Fantasmic package 1:30, dinner counter service, Fantasmic 7:30, park closes 8

Oct27- Chef Mickey 8:05, whatever park the family chooses usually MK or Epcot. Departure to be determined.

My kids are 3&8. The 3 year old naps very well in her stroller for days I didn't schedule a break. We did that a couple times in December to catch afternoon parades. Thanks for your opinions we are so excited to go at a lower crowd time. Christmas wee and mid August were our previous trips.

After a year long deployment for my husband comes to an end this summer, we are planning a Disney trip for 9/28 to 10/7. We are looking at POR in a royal room. I can't pass up queen beds. We have not been to Disney since 2007 and we miss it. I would love to try a MNSSHP and hop over to see Harry Potter.

I am SO up in the air about making ADR's it's driving me CRAZY!!!!
We have two "down" days - those are our designanted "no-park, do something else" days. So I booked Mickey's Back Yard BBQ for one, and 1900 Park Fare for the other (which is the night before we leave).

Other than that I'm in planning limbo because I'm waiting to finalize my park attack plan until I know which nights are MNSSHP. We usually do Crystal Palace for lunch in MK but figured we'd just go to the park a bit later in the day, do CP for dinner, and then hang out for MNSSHP. BUT if BOG is open I'm going to try and get ADR's for that. Anyone know when / how we will find out if / when they are opening BOG??

Also not sure about ADR in Epcot since it's the food and wine festival. Checking out menu photos from last year, I'm not sure there's much the kids will eat in the kiosks, but there are enough quick service places around that I'm not worried about finding them something. This is our first time for Food & Wine - any suggestions??

It's going to be a while before we hear anything about when BOG will officially be open. The info that was released yesterday is that it will be open to "celebrate the holidays", but what holidays that entails, nobody is saying yet, so we have no idea if it will be open in time for the fall holidays (Halloween & Thanksgiving) or if it won't be open until after. There are plenty of rumors and plenty of ways to interpret yesterday's news. There are some that report talking to Disney CM's who say it will be opening in October with the first ADR's being made in August (for those Oct. dates). There are others that have said the CM's told them it will be open in December.

I think we're still a few months away from hearing anything official on an actual date.

As for MNSSHP nights, you can pretty much figure those out by checking park hours and on the nights that MK closes at 7pm, you can safely guess that will be a party night.

Been making ADR's for the last couple of days. We haven't booked our room yet, but probably (hoping to) going to book a standard room at AoA. There's only me, DSis, and DNiece. So we don't need alot of room, even though I would love a queen bed at POFQ... maybe. I'm all about saving money.

We've got our fingers crossed for free dining. It's really why we chose this week. We went the same week in 2010. And all I remember was the HEAT and HUMIDITY!!!! It felt like we were walking around in an attic! So, were praying for great weather.
