Do we know what the busy times are going to be this year?? I know Gay Days is usually the first weekend, but when's Fall break??

Fall break is of minor importance. Despite the posters who say my child has off a fall break they are not in the majority of school children.

If you are going for a Halloween party which were on Tuesdays and Fridays, those will be busy day particularily Friday. If you want slow days just avoid those days or avoid DL and DCA at night on those days.

Yeah I'm used to the parties, those don't bother me. What I meant by the fall break question is that I know there is a week of October that's busiest due to Fall break, or maybe I got that wrong but I usually am always there on the week of October 18th (start date) into the 20's. So this time I am going on the 10th through the 17th so it's a little different for me...

I think the busies day beyond the seasonal happeninds in the parks is Veteran's day. Is that what you were thinking of? It's going to fall on Monday the 10th next year. So that 3 day weekend will have some extra guests. It shouldn't make a difference for the rest of the week.

Oh okay, well luckily I don't arrive until the 10th lol so that won't affect me

Um ~ I'll disagree, I would never visit DLR during UEA *Utah's fall break* the dates for 2011 are 10/20 & 10/21

Columbus Day weekend this past year was kinda busy ... at least the onsite hotels were sold out and we had to wait in a few lines (I think the longest one was still just shy of 30 min), but it was still nothing compared to summer/holiday crowds, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. And the weekdays on either side of it were still blissfully empty. :lovestruc
I think that's what Skiingfast was referring to, because Veteran's Day is in November (both my son's b-day and my grandparent's anniversary..., so I know that one!)

To put this in perspective. Remember that California has 15 times more people than Utah. Roughly 15%, a small minority of California schools have a year round calendar that use fall breaks. So while 15% of the schools in California cause this problem at DLR. A state with 7% of the California population is only able to cause half as much of a problem.

This is why fall breaks aren't a big deal. But Summer break is.

You are correct I meant Columbus day. Thank you.

But compared to the very low crowds of the week I've been going for years, having a bunch of annoying college kids running around isn't exciting so I'm just glad I'm missing it lol

I have to say that whatever events were going on DID impact crowds. I am not sure which states were on leave. I know I talked to a few from Utah and I think AZ was also on leave but I was there from Oct 14-Oct 18 and October 14, 16, 17 were VERY crowded. October 15 was crowded but we only went into the parks for the Halloween Party so I cannot say how they were during the day.

October 18 was wonderful. Very low crowds and waits for what I did ride were minimal. It was also raining on and off so that may have also caused a decrease in crowds.

My AP expires on October 14th and I want to go to the Halloween Party again in 2011 but I am definitely thinking the week previous to the one I went this time! It will depend on which dates the party falls on though as well...

ya that's why I'm going the second week of October instead of my usual third week because my AP expires the 18th

We'll be there October 22 - 29. It looks like we may have some crowds on the weekends but are hopeful that the weekdays will be quieter.
