October 17, 2009 Western

I am very bummed that Disney lost one of our bags the last night. We set it out with the rest of our luggage, but it never made it to our baggage station. It's a black rolling Disneyland duffle, looks like all the other Disney rolling duffles, so I'm thinking/hoping someone else picked it up. Not sure if we'll ever get it back, though, don't know how they'd get it out to California... I was in such a daze packing the last night that I'm still trying to remember what is in it. I know my favorite pair of jeans and all my shoes! Oh well, hopefully it will turn up or I'll get something from the Insurance for it, then I can go shopping!

Kim - Did you contact DCL to see what they said? Wondering if it could have been misplaced between ship and the luggage hall.

Hi Laura
I did file a claim that morning before we left the terminal. DCL was closed before I was able to call and follow up today, I'll try tomorrow and hope they found it!

What color/character baggage tags did you have, Kim?

Our luggage was scattered and not grouped like it had been on past cruises. We had 6 bags down there and while we were looking for our last two, one being our Disney Cruise Line Duffle, I noticed an almost identical Disneyland Duffle! It was toward the back right side of the Red/Mickey section. This was about 9 a.m. I think over 95% of the bags where gone by this point. We ended up finding our DCL duffle, but then it took another 10-15 minutes with 2 CMs helping to find our last suitcase. Apparently, the Red/Mickey tag had been pulled off and it was placed in the Gray section since that would have been our section if we hadn't upgraded at the port.

I'm so sad to be home... I've got that post-cruise depression plus I'm sick with a horrendous cold I picked up on ship or at one of the ports. I started feeling bad on Wednesday evening and every day since then has been worse. We did have a fantastic cruise though and it was really nice getting to meet some of you! :)

I am home too with a sick child. He has a virus that he picked up on the ship. I also have a cold...this only adds to my post ship depression...not to mention the mound of clothes that I have to deal with. Perhaps I should just go back on the ship :goodvibes

Add me to the list of cruisers with sick kids. DS8 came home today with a fever. Took him to the doc since he has asthma and he tested positive for influenza A.

We LOVED our cruise. We had done a three night on 2006 but this was so much more relaxing. We did the Dolphin Push, Pull, Swim which the kids loved and we did snorkling in Key West. Even with the rain it was okay.

We only met a couple of Diser's but saw lots of door magnetss. Interesting that two of the fish extender's we saw had our same last name. I am sorry we did not participate in that - next time we will.

Hiya everyone!

It's been a busy few days. Our cruise was wonderful with a few minor issues along the way. We LOVED the FE gifts! My parents hope you enjoy my mom's hand made dish rags. And hopefully our foam picture frames, door hangers, and toys for the kiddos went over well.

On the second night, we noticed our stateroom just didn't seem to cool down. Called maintenance and they left a card saying the issue had been fixed. We saw no difference. That night we brought it to our host's attention. He agreed it wasn't right and reported it. Room finally started cooling down on day 6 at sea.

Our day at castaway cay was beautiful. Unfortunately my dads and wife's 1130am parasailing was canceled due to wind. They were rescheduled for 230pm - right with the rain. We were told it was canceled at 215. My dad went to turnEd in the tickets at marges barges. Then just after 230 he heardthe lady at the dock signing people up to take their places and then saw them pull awayfrom the dock a little after 230. Very disappointing because they had been looking forward to parasailing since day 1.

Then on debarkation we arrived in the terminal and found only 2 of my parents 4 bags. 1 of them was hidden behind thr lost and found and the other was MIA. We filled out a missing bag form and left contact info. They lady at the desk seemed surprisingly indifferent as if it's one of thosethings that just happens all the time.

Luckily we had a long wait at the airport and the bag finally showed up after 4 hours. We were nervous because that bag included almost all of our souveniers!

I'll be starting a full trip report later this week with all the fun details and hopefully some pictures. Lots of great things happened last week! It was nice meeting some of you!
Cheers,
Josh

Josh... Never did get to meet you and was looking for you since I had seen your picture. I went past your parents room all the time, but never saw them there.

We had a great cruise too. Even with our Boatswain issue. We welcomed the cool , rain since we had not seen rain in a while out here.

Really tempted to switch our 2011 cruise to a 2010 cruise.

Add us to the list of Sick... DD7 get sick at the tail end of the cruise. Just a bad cold, no fever. DH came home with a sore throat and has been running a low fever. I have just had a stuffy nose. We have a halloween party on Friday and our house is a mess. :scared1:

Laura

Angie - I saw you booked a 2011 cruise... We actually booked one too, but picked November to be close to DH birthday. But now thinking October might be warmer in the pacific.

We actually considered 11/13/11 so that DH could celebrate his birthday (11/15) onboard, but my friend in LA said we probably wouldn't want to visit Disneyland during the Winter as it's pretty chilly. Since it will be our first and possibly only trip, I'm hoping for more ideal weather... not too hot and not too cold. ;) I thought traveling in mid-October worked out pretty nicely this year. It's far enough into the school year that I didn't feel guilty pulling the kids out of school and far enough from the holidays that they weren't affected. Last year, we came home from our cruise the weekend before Thanksgiving and that just seemed strange. I didn't put any thought into Thanksgiving & Christmas shopping until we got home and then I suddenly had soooo much to do! Sooooo - mid-October it is! LOL

Oh Angie, I think that's my bag! :sad1: We had the Red Mickey tags. I know we searched that area (plus others) multiple times. Either my eyes were playing tricks or someone picked it up then put it back later, or maybe picked it up after you saw it. I left two messages with DCL today and haven't heard back. Hope to get ahold of them tomorrow... I'm not leaving much hope that we'll get it back, but it would be nice.

Interesting that two of the fish extender's we saw had our same last name. I am sorry we did not participate in that - next time we will.

Would that last name be Sullivan? Our rooms were on deck six and saw the two Sullivan FE's on opposite corridors. Those were very nice FE's.

I feel like crap today but no cold symptoms or fever - just tired and achy. That's no surprise since dh was sick on the cruise and Leah came home with a fever and fatigue. I guess it's my turn. I still haven't finished unpacking my stuff.

This morning I got an email about the "School at Sea" cruise program for homeschoolers. It was easy to ignore because all the sailings would involve driving to Florida or flying somewhere. We can't afford that. BUT, one more email arrived since then announcing a Baltimore embarkment and it's on Carnival so you know it's going to be cheap. Hmmm. Maybe.

I better go use the little energy I have to continue unpacking. Isn't coming home just the pits?

Yep - we are Sullivan and my parents were on Deck six so I passed those rooms alot.

Unpacked my last bag but still have laundry piles!!

How's everyone doing? It was a great vacation!

What was the highlight of your cruise..?

Ours was our Dolphin Swim at Dolphinaris.. would like to do the Dolphin Trainer one next time.. and Dolphinaris was so very cool as a location.. loved it!

Well this 2 week vacation is just about over. Heading back to my room from Extra Magic hours at EPCOT. Catching DME at 8:30 in the morning to start the stand by adventure home, but I did find a sure way so it won't be to bad just have to go north to Pitsburgh first, change planes to Vegas then change again to a flight to LAX. All three flights are wide open. You know what they say, beggars can't be choosers.

Well we arrived home safely the drive always feels longer on the way home, I also finally finish the wash now I just have to iron everything and put it all away -- as well as finish cleaning the spare room it looks like a bomb went off in there -- Roland where are you now ---. Angie see you next year --on the Oct 24th crusie, Krisann would love to read your book-- let me know when it comes out, Doberlady were you on mid ship 2nd deck- Penny it was great talking to you and you really made me rethink the surgery. We went on the 2:30 parasailing but they also did a 3:30 it was a wonderful experience the only thing you couldn't go solo everyone had to go tandem.
Back to work but still part time until at least January but hopefully full time will happen sooner.
