October 17, 2009 Western

Hey, Penny. I know you are a Residence Inn fan, and so am I, but since the in-laws are not going to stay with us the night before the cruise, we decided to cheap out and stay at La Quinta instead. 68.00 total. Residence would have been twice that.

Monica, you are right about the residence in thing... I'm sure La Quinta will be great, and I might try to stay there next year, but just today I had an offer in my inbox from Marriott for discounts and I was able to knock off a chunk of the room rate and did that today. I just love the RI sooo much! But I will for sure put them on my list for next year! Thanks for the tip! That IS a great rate!

Penny, what type of discount did you get? I got an offer for 20% off, but it was for weekend, so wasn't sure if it would work for us.

Thanks for the input :)

I think most of the unhappy deck one people are in cat 9, not cat 10. The cat 9 rooms on deck one just have two tiny portholes instead of the one giant window they get on deck two. The only other complaint I've heard is that you can only access deck 1 via two of the elevators. The third elevator only goes to deck 2.

Thanks Laura,.. So you said that you have stayed on Deck 1 and you had a positive experience?

, when I checked CAT 10, all the available ones were on Deck 2, the most they can say is no because the lifeboats are full for that area. That is the last place I stayed and had a postive experience. I have read some good things about staying on Deck 1. If I can find them I will post.

We stayed on Deck 1 (Cabin 1030, Wonder) for our very first Disney cruise and it, too, was a positive experience for us. Yes, the room only had two small portholes to look out and just one bathroom as I recall but was very quiet. I'm sure it would be the same for the Magic.

The cabin was the very last room down the hallway and the only noise was when the gangway was lowered and raised on port days.

One thing I remember was the doorway across the hall from the room that led to a short hallway to the forward elevator lobby. It was so convenient not only to get to the rest of the ship but for port days when the exit was from the forward gangway off the lobby.

Relax and enjoy your room and the cruise. :goodvibes

Best wishes.

That was the same code I got. I went to the website and plugged it in and it does works for one night (Friday night). The rate I had on the screen was alot less than what the lady on the phone could give me. She thought I was getting the last room at that rate. I'm not sure. I had her cancel the other reservation after I booked the cheaper one online. The room has to be booked by tomorrow. That's when the deal expires! I can't believe I let that offer sit in my inbox so long without reading it! Shame on me!

Oooh.. like that a few of us are staying at the Residence Inn. We're renting our car with Hertz and the Hertz return is just seconds away from the Residence Inn.. we're taking the Hertz shuttle in to port. Did that the last time we cruised as well and it worked out super!

I'm so so so so so looking forward to seeing you guys in a few weeks! In fact, in a few hours or so in 3 weeks I'm on a beach in Miami..YAY!! :)

Hi Penny, you were right, you did get the last room. I tried and it said room unavailable...oh well, just happy to be staying there. Thanks for the info. Marci

Hey Sue, Isn't the Hertz rental the place that's supposed to be next door to the Residence Inn? Wonder if it's a short walk or a long one? Thinking of the future and I can't remember seeing it, but know it's there...

Marci, I just tried and can get a room but it is higher than what I paid yesterday, but still a savings... want to try it again?

YES!!! It IS! I actually have a pic of me and my daughter and all our luggage waiting at the Hertz with the Residence Inn in the background.. I google mapped it and the map said 'seconds' to drive between the Residence inn and the Hertz.. so I clued in :) LOL:cool1::cool1:

I just saw Palo reservation is available for dinner-Keywest 6pm. If I booked that and it turn out that day 2 is AP rotation, Can I cancel or change that onboard. Is there any fees to change reservation one day before?
Thanks

Thanks Otimon, I'm glad to hear positive experiences :)

Thanks, Pete. This was on my list to check, so you saved me a call!

It shouldn't be a problem to switch. Just go to Rockin' Bar D on Deck 3 when you board on Saturday and they should be able to change it for you. I think the desk to do this opens at noon. I'm almost positive there isn't a fee to switch even though it's only one day before, but maybe someone else knows for sure.
