October 17, 2009 Western

Welcome, Anjanette and momsully. Would you like to join me in my current round of singing.......98 bottles of beer on the wall...98 bottles of beer...

Hi,

I just want to let everyone know that my sonnDH and I will participate in the FE!!! I also offered to help in organizing...

I haven't started packing yet (just the 2 of us) but I am making notes of all the great ideas of things to bring that I would never think of!

So I went to the 2 fabric stores to see if they had any Disney fabric and the only thing we found was pooh material for babies. :confused3

I know it doesn't have to be Disney exactly, but DD has made some specific requests to have it be Disney. Any one want to share their pictures of past or present FE?

So.. for those of you that have traveled in Oct, Will we need sweaters or something to cover shoulders on the Ship or in the evening?

Laura

I take a very light windbreaker, but almost never use it. I enjoy sitting out on deck 10 at night talking and enjoying the night. It is breezy, and if you sit still long enough, you might chill just a bit from the wind, but the nights are warm and the days are HOT. It is mostly whether or not you feel you are cold natured at all... ;)

Same here, Penny. I bring something in case of cool weather but it's never the outdoor temperature that provokes me to put on a sweater. The theatre is where I need an extra layer.

Angie, we're no where near ready to pack.

OMGosh! I totally forgot how cold I get in the theater! You are so right! Thanks for the reminder! :3dglasses

I picked up the 2009 DCL passporter on Thursday and I read it completely and now am more than ready to book. Still getting mixed up on what day to book Palo's dinner. I am hoping to do the brunch on Monday (Day 3).

Monday is Formal night, but we don't want to miss Golden Mickey's, so was thinking of Doing Palo's dinner on Day 4 Which is our day at GC, but we will also have spend all day at Boatswain. Any suggestions?

The Fatfish waverunner excursion in Grand Cayman is looking like a lot of fun. It's probably too expensive for the five of us, but we'll see what happens. I emailed the company to ask about the minimum age for passengers. I haven't heard back yet.

Okay we will be joining you all on the 17th, have been booked since last November, will be going with two dear old neighbors this year. DH and I have been counting the days until we are on the Magic and have our favorite vacation-- Also booked for the Oct 24, 2010 cruise to the Eastern, but love the Western -- We will be celebrating our 25th anniversary this year, can't wait to step on the Magic and get my dose of "pixe dust". We will be just 4 adults no children with us this. Last year we enjoyed our cruise so much that we had to do it again and it onl took me years to convince DH that this was the vacation for him. Can't to see everyone there. We live VA and always drive down DH loves the ride.

Thanks for the info! Wow, four ships in Cozumel. This also confirms what someone posted earlier about only 2 ships docked in Grand Cayman the day we are there. Did you find this at cruisecal? A very useful site but now that it's by subscription, I don't go there anymore. I haven't found a free site that includes the passenger count. If you know of one, please tell.

Welcome, Carole! We live north of DC and will be driving down also. We're not unaccustomed to the drive either but we prefer taking the Autotrain because of the kids-ride free-with-paying-adult. Unfortunately, that special ends in September and shuttling a family of five with a van on the Autotrain is way too expensive.

Are you driving straight through or making a sleep stop? I wanted to drive straight through but Dh doesn't. Since he does most of the driving (I fall asleep at the wheel rather quickly), it's his call. To be fair, neither of us recovers from those straight through drives the way we used to, and it's no fun starting a vacation already tired. In a year and a half, when our oldest son is 16 we'll have help.

:welcome: Carole :yay:

The more the merrier, right? Congratulations on celebrating your 25th anniversary.

This excursion looks awesome!!! TripAdvisor gives the company great reviews too!

Tripadvisor is where I first read about it. In case we pass on Fatfish, there are other less expensive waverunner tours that received great reviews, too. I can't think of the names off the top of my head but they're easy to find on Traveladvisor.

Wow! Awesome!!! I see your boys are 12 & 8... mine are 13, 11, & 9 - very similar ages! (I also have girls - 11 & 4). What are your plans on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday morning? It would be great to meet pre-cruise and say "hi"!

Our stay at BLT will be a quick one before the cruise. We plan to arrive in the early afternoon on Thursday, and just relax and hang out around the hotel pool. At night, we may try to do the campfire at the CR beach and then maybe watch Hallowishes at 9:30 from the observation deck. Friday will be our commando parks day, with the Studios in the morning, a short break, and the Magic Kingdom in the afternoon and evening. Saturday morning will be a quick breakfast and an excited drive to the port!

We'd be happy to say hi if you're going to be at the hotel on Thursday afternoon or in the terminal on Saturday morning. What are your plans for those days?

Love seeing so many new faces!! Can't wait to get to know all of you :).

Hey Angie -- My little girl will be 5 in August and it'll be cool to find another girl in her age range :)..

So are you ready for a QOTD?:

Do you support any sports teams? Hockey? Soccer? Football..? Let's out all you fans!!! :)
