October 15, 2005 anyone?

I didn't check the boards until now, because when we took our first cruise in Oct 2003 I didn't find anyone on board until Aug/Sept. We actually booked This Oct 15th cruise, while on board in 2003. Fell in love with it! I will be sailing with my husband, and two daughters ages 9 & 12. A little older than all of yours. Hopefully I will be able to find this site again...I'm not to computer literate...especially when it comes to dis. boards. By the way we just got bumped up from a cat 8 to a cat 5 room 7020. :cheer2: yeah!!!! That's what you get for booking early!!!

DiMitch, welcome aboard! There are many active participants in this thread, and some not so active (me!).

Congrats on the bump! I'm secretly hoping that my cat. 6 reservation gets bumped - I haven't been given a stateroom number, but a "guarantee" of at least a cat. 6.

Actually, there are a few of us with older children. I have two sons, ages 9 (at the time of the cruise) and 12, and a daughter who will turn 6 during the cruise. If you join our Yahoo group at DCL-October-15-Cruisers , you can find a database with a list of cruisers...I think you will see several with children in that same age range.

Welcome to the Molar Express! :teeth:

DiMitch,
Welcome to another Coloradan!! Our two kids are ages 15 (DD) and 13 (DS). This is our second Disney cruise and we have 6 other families going too. We chose this cruise since the kids are out on Fall Break. Congrats on your bump. We reserved a catagory 5 and I doubt if we will get bumped. However, we placed our deposit back in September 2004. Apparently this sail date is filling up quickly. By the way - what part of Colorado are you from? :wave2:

Well, I spent Memorial Day driving to Pittsburgh and then flying from Pittsburgh to Denver for work. Just got back last night. I woulda flown out of Buffalo, but the boss wanted a Nonstop (chicken flyer). Denver is pretty nice... stayed at the Wyndham Tech Center... Vendor took us out a lot... Did Dave and Busters (it rawks!!).... I missed flying SW... instead got the US Air 50% on-time gaurantee.

Well later folks.

All of you people from Colorado are making me nutty. Weare hoping to move out there (my husband is from Colorado Springs) sometime in the next 3-5 years. I can't wait. I'dgo now if thejob market there was better so that my husband could actually find a job! *laugh*

We have quite a group going with lots of kids all ages....Go check out the Yahoo group. We have pictures and everything. :cool1: Not to mention great tips and links.

Well guys I have revised my vacation plans a bit. I decided not too do 2 days at WDW before the cruise. :sad2: First I just got back from AKL and second I am planning a 7 night trip with my Neice and Nephew for next May. :goodvibes So this will save me quite a bit of money to not go in October.

So we are just flying down on Friday morning and I booked a suite for $99 at the Quality Suites Cocoa beach Ocean-front hotel. Looks very nice and I got a 1 bedroom suite w/King bed and living room with Queen sofa sleeper. Not too bad. ;) I will try and post the link if any of you want to check it out. Only 3 miles from the Port and they offer free parking and shuttle. We will have a rental that we are turning in the morning we sail. They also have a Taco Bell and Waffle house on site. :rotfl:

We are planning on going into Downtown Disney atleast for a bit when we get to Orlando. I can wait for Magic Kingdom a few more months...

Things are kind of up in the air now wether Gary is going or not.....Complicated! :confused3
Anyway if he does not then my best friend and her daughter said they would go and I called DCL and they said that I have till 30 days out to make a name change for no charge. Then we would have to add Reese and she won't be 3 till the Sat after we sail. So only $199 for her.

All I know is I don't want to go alone with DD for this long of a trip. :sad2: I am not cancelling though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have booked this trip since March last year and so much planning.... :sad1:  :sad1:
I have to go!!!!!
Wish we had some other single Mom's going, but it seems like all families. Makes me sad sometimes that my family can't be fixed. :sad2: I have tried.. Nothing more I can do??? thanks for listening guys... :grouphug:

Ok...Someone said that there is cake in the conference room...Gotta go!

Michelle :wave2:

Ok...1st Timers here. I guess we don't understand all the excitement about dining rotations. Does it really only matter if you are traveling with kids and want to go to character breakfasts? Don't we just eat where Disney tells us to eat? If someone could explain it, please do. Since it's just DH and myself, I'm thinking that it probably won't really matter to us right?

Ok...now for a 2nd question. DH and I really want to go to a character breakfast. Will we look stupid if it's just two "40 something" people without kids? Maybe we could borrow a few of yours. LOL!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: Just kidding! :teeth:

Later friends,
Nancy :flower:

I guess we don't understand all the excitement about dining rotations.
I think that many folks (including me) would prefer a rotation that would put them in Lumiere's (the most formal of the three rotational dining rooms) on formal night, and in Parrot Cay (the "tropical" dining room) on Pirate night (formerly tropical night). However, for many what is more important than getting a particular rotation is knowing which rotation they have to assist in Palo reservation planning, both for dinner and brunch. As has been discussed in this thread, it is certainly advantageous to choose a brunch day that is not the same as the character breakfast day.
Will we look stupid if it's just two "40 something" people without kids?
Of course not! That's the beauty of Disney...We're all kids once the pixie dust hits us! :earsboy:

We were in the middle of the second page so I felt a stupid need to post something in order to bump us up a bit!

Just think...we're only a little more than 4 months away from our cruise!! :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc

Anyone thinking of taking the mangrove / kayak tour in St. Thomas? DH and I decided to change our excursion plans for this port and this sounded pretty cool. Anyone heard anything about this excursion...like bring lots of bugspray?

Hope you all had a good weekend. Our patio furniture finally arrived and we spent Saturday putting it together. We're having a Potter Party next month when the new Harry Potter book is released... a whole bunch of adults sitting around talking about a childrens series. And people wonder why DH and I like sailing with the mouse so much. :teeth:

Hi all
Welcome to newbies.
DW was 40 last weekend so we went to Amsterdam for a long weekend away. Only 7 weeks to our summer vacation, 2 weeks in Majorca, Spain all paid for and ready to go.
Don't know how we are going to fit everything in to our Florida trip. The list to do is getting longer. Discovery Cove, Kennedy Space Centre, MNSSHP, Disney Quest and lots more. 3 weeks will not be enough.

Thought I would post a couple of pics of Mathew as Pottermania is starting again, (from Halloween 2003)

We are also going to a special book party for the new Harry Potter....but i have already told my kids that i get to read it first!!!

I cannot believe cruise time is sneaking up on us....i tried to see the wonder in port yeaterday but it rained and i missed her....i am so ready for the cruise! :sunny:

Ya know what I did on my lunch hour yesterday? I went back and read the first few pages of our thread. It was was so funny to read us talking about how crazy  We are too book this far out. A year and a half and now look??? Final pmt is due for me next month in order to make my Palo. I just can not believe that. Time does fly.

What do you guys think about this?? If it is just DD(7) on this cruise would you think it would be safe for us too still do the Horseback ride in St.Maarten?
I know one of you mentioned maybe doing the ride also? :confused3 I really want too. I am planning on renting a Jeep wrangler that day so if anyone wants to go I am willing to drive us there and then drop you off where ever you would want afterwards. Just a thought??? :confused3

My best friend is calling Colleen (she took over Annette at MouseEarsVacations) and seeing if she can book an Oceanview room. I really hope she does this. She was booked and then cancelled. The only problem now is she lost early dining. I told her to asked to be put on the waiting list and then have them link her ressie to mine and that might help. We can also try and get it changed on board. She won't be able to the horseback ride cause her little on is not quite 3. So I am going to go pick them up after the ride and we are going to explore the Island and beaches for the day. :sunny:
Ok, it all sounds good if it works out.

I am sure everyone is very busy with Summer activities. Super sales at the malls!! Great time to pick up some clothes for the trip! :goodvibes

Hey Michelle-

What happened to Annette @ MouseEars? Did she leave the company??

Im now with Coleen too and she is just great!!

Let me know :sunny:

I think it was Paul who said she was taking some time off??? :confused3 Then I got an E-mail from Colleen saying the same thing and that she is taking over my reservation. She has been great also. :flower:

I just hope my friend can get something booked soon! I still can't believe she cancelled!! UGH! I told her!

as a family of six i just cannot afford these excursions....they sound like fun but for us would be around $300....on St. Maarten i think my hubby and i will taxi to orient bay and look at the "sights" :rotfl: but not participate! My hubby used to be in the navy and visited the real french riviera and wants to see how this matches up! (yeah, sure....) anyway, then we will do a little shopping on the way back...i am just looking for touristy stuff like shirts, a straw bag and a tropical wrap around skirt...anyone know if it is better to purchase these in St. Maarten or St. Thomas???

As for St. Thomas, we will all taxi to Megans Bay for the day....i had read on some boards that people order sandwiches from room service and take them to the beaches but someone posted last night that it is illegal to bring food on the islands...can someone tell me what the real truth is??? :confused3

i just got my new passporter last night and i am getting so excited! Does anyone want to do a DISmeet at the Radisson the night before the cruise???
I am all geared up for the long drive!!

I tried to send you another PM,but it said your box was full....

Anyway I felt so stupid after my last PM...."Chocolat" Not Charlie and the Chocolate factory....LOL :rotfl: I have not seen "Chocolat",but have heard about it. I may have to rent it this weekend.

I am a huge fan of Johnny. I was just thinking chocolate..... :rotfl:

He was good in " Finding Neverland" too. Made me cry...

Ok...Hopefully you read this so you don't think I am just out there... :cloud9:
