:wizard: My husband and I will be going to Disneyland October 15-19 with three other couples for a very dear friends 60th birthday she loves Mickey Mouse and has never been to any Disney park so this is her dream vacation it seems all the resort hotels are booked I always thought October was a great time to go for fewer crowds but, it's not looking that way I would appreciate any insight or suggestions as to why things look busy and must do's. Thank you Ladykatherine

Wow the resort hotels are all booked! Im going in october 22-27. I was too hoping it wont be busy. Well i guess the next thing you can try is booking a room at the Howard Johnson, its across the street from the entrance. There is also alot other good neibor hotels. I too wonder why its soo busy.

Did you try calling the DLR Hotel Reservations directly for a room?

October has become very busy the last few years, partly because many schools in AZ and UT are on fall break, and partly because of the Mickey's Trick Or Treat parties in DCA.

DL is not like WDW in that it's very easy and economical to stay in an offsite hotel. The ones on Harbor are mostly just as close as Disneyland Hotel or Paradise Pier, anyway. Here's a map with clickable links to some of the nearby hotels: http://www.geocities.com/ashpsyche/DisneylandLinkMap.html

You also might want to read Hydroguy's Tips Compilation, a sticky thread at the top of this forum. It has tons of helpful tips about how to do DL during a busy time. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1520483

Hope that helps! :)

Hi,

Did you check hotel room only reservations? I just found the DLH for those nights, one room I think. Maybe call the reservations too, you never know, try 714-956-mickey

Good Luck

Traditionally, the DL Hotels are always booked on weekends. A few times there might be suite rooms but you have to call the hotel directly. As much as it is more convenient to stay on property you have a lot more choices nearby and they are within walking distance. Many also offer shuttle services.

That's doesn't surprise me, it's going to be PACKED during that time. I'd keep calling them though, you never know if a room will open up if someone cancels.

Yes, I called the hotel directly. Why do you say it's going to be packed at that time just because of AZ and Utah brea:confused: k or is there a convention. When you say packed do you mean like summer and spring breaks?

Utah and AZ fall breaks bring enormous crowds to DLR in October. Yes, it will be like summer and spring break. Especially on the weekends.

We'll be there from October 16 - 22 but we don't plan on going on the weekend. We're planning on seeing DH's family then.

I think what we should do is Disneyland on Thurs. - Friday and go first thing in the morning go back to our hotel in the afternoon relax and go back to the park in the evening. Then go mostly to Californian adventure on Sat-Sun.:yay: Does that sound like a good plan? I've been many of times but the others have never been. Has any one done the Sagway tour?

It is also Minnesota schools fall break. Although, most here go to WDW instead of DL - due to airfare.

The Segway tour is a lot of fun. 3 hours in DCA before the park opens (7:30am tour start time). You get a commemorative pin and a photograph as a tour keepsake, too.

If you have AAA or an AP, make sure you ask about the tour discount.

The resort hotels filled up right after the pin code mailer and the AP7 rates were released. Unlikely it was the AZ and Utah schools that were the cause of the sell out. They didn't come this summer why would they come now. The economy is still in the crapper!

A good reason why they may not have come over the summer is b/c their Deluxe AP's are blocked out for a majority of it. Many, many residents of bordering states have found it most economical to purchase Deluxe AP's so that they can take affordable vacations during the school year.

I really appreciate all the input I feel like I have a lot of pressure to make this a perfect birthday. We've gone in October many times because its slow the last was 4 years ago and we were there on Halloween and they had nothing special now it seem with all they do October is not the best time to go. I went last march and had no lines it was great!!:cool1:

Also I just noticed that October 16th Disneyland is open until 11:00pm all the other Thursdays they close at 8:00pm.
