Actually, He has been sick! I have been the only healthy one...until now! I keep saying, it's the new carpet, it's allergies, the trees are in bloom....I'll just keep telling myself that!

Connor stayed home again today. I went in before school and got his work. I am now POSITIVE that I can NOT homeschool my kids! GGgggrrrrrr!!! It's just too frusterating...for both of us! He will be back to school tomorrow..with his Jack-O-Lantern grin.

Making chicken fried steaks, mashed taters, biscuits, corn and gravy. YUM-O!! (can you say carb-loading?)

Michele,

I want that recipe...>!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOunds delicious. I may have to pay you a visit one of these days just to eat some of your yummy dinners...LOL!!!!!!!!!

I wonder if it is allergies.. I went to the dr. today for feeling the same way and that is what he told me it is due to the construction dust, etc....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Took Hanna and Hope today to the dr. they both have sinus infections!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats good old southern comfort food. If that don't cure you, nothing will!!!;)

I have my trip report complete, but it is almost 3 pages long. Should I post it in small parts here, or should I get Kristin to put it on the website??? After the first edit, I have the pictures whittled down to around 750 keepers.:rolleyes1 Not bad from almost 2000, huh!! I'll probably put about 50 or 75 up on picture trail for everyone to look at. I'll try to get back on tonight before everyone goes to bed!
Allen

I have to admit, my southern home cooking, mostly comes from a box! LOL the gravy is a mix, the biscuits were from a Pillsbury can, and the country/chicken fried steaks were from Tyson! I did make the taters from scratch! LOL Just because I had to use them up, otherwise, I probably would have made them from a box too! LOL There, I've confessed! I never said my name was Betty Crocker!

Allen, can't wait to hear your report and see photos!

Kristin, I hope the girls get better soon! I am sorry you aren't feeling well either. My friend lives in a new neighborhood and last summer she and her son suffered something aweful for all the construction dust. As they say, this too shall pass and we'll be better!

Keep on telling yourself its the carpet, the trees, etc... are you taking anything FOR your allergies? :)

Tell me what is going on with the "homesickschooling" at your house? I might have a few tricks up my sleeve (after 3 boys doing this I have learned just a thing or two! LOL!)

Enjoy the comfort food! Mac and cheese, the homemade kind with LOTS of extra cheese is my special food, that or chocolate that is!

Off to my homeschool moms meeting tonight! Last night was the hospital's family advisory council. SO nice to be able to help our home away from home to be even better!

Have a good night everyone!

Heidi, I have been taking Allegra. I am starting to wonder if I should switch to something else as my system might be used to this.

As for the "homesickschooling" (I like that term!) He was trying to answer his science questions and was having trouble with one. I told him to go back and re-read to find the answer. He said he already did, so when I went to look, he told me I was in the wrong section, it's over here, you don't GET it! I told him, he ASKED for my help and if he is going to be a pain about it then I won't help! we just bump heads about everything. It doesn't help that he's in pain AND that he has ADD...although in a mild case, he still does so that doesn't help much either.

I LOVE mac and cheese! Steve, on the other hand, does not like mac and cheese and won't eat it! That's something I usually make for lunch when he's at work, or I'll make it as a side that the kids like when there is something they don't.

Do you solely homeschool your boys or are you in a group that shares the duties? (For example, you might teach science and a friend might teach English/Reading?)

I totally love Mac and Cheese, yummy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had kinda comfort food tonight too, Scrambled Eggs, Hashbrowns and cinnamon biscuits. It's something my whole family actually likes LOL.

I hope everyone feels better soon.

Did you all see the story on the Evening News about these new energy efficient bulbs? Yanno, the ones that are pigtail shaped and save you energy and are suppose to be so good for the enviroment as a whole? Well, guess What!! Don't break one! They have MERCURY in them! They said you can't dispose of them in your regular trash, you need to take them to a, oh, what was the term used, toxic dump? Oh gosh! I am such a flippin' klutz I am likely to drop one and give the whole house Mercury Poisoning! One lady interviewed said she called Poison Control who told her to call this Haz-Mat Co to come out and clean up the mess....it was going to cost her $2,000!!!! For a busted light bulb?

but if you want to see the story yourself, you can go here....

Leaving in 10 minutes, but had to look one last time before I hit the road! LOL!

Yes, I solely homeschool, though there is a co-op that I might check out next fall. They meet 2x a month for special classes. I do have Kaj signed up for a writing class via email with the Christian Writers Guild, he even has a published author for his mentor! I also sign the kids up for various other activities during the year, next week they are both going to be in Robin Hood (they get casted on monday, and perform Friday and Saturday!).

When doing homesickschooling like that, you might try doing something like having him read a paragraph out loud then you read one, it sometimes helps with retention to hear something as well as seeing it, you know? I wouldnt be surprised if Sean had some ADD, but since he is at home I havn't felt the need to go for an actual diagnosis. I make it work for him by doing things in shorter stints, frequently changing the way we do things to make it more interesting for him (which for him works, but might not for others!). thankfully reading is a BIG love of his, so I have a slew of books that I assign him to read. I would guess both my boys read books (not text book reading) at least 2 hours a day?

Anyway... hopefully he will feel better and can back to school soon. Holler if I can help in some way! I have a friend in Indiana who does art via the computer with my boys... :)
