Well guys, Dad came over and looked at the windshield. He thins the break is small enough that it will be alright for me to drive the car and then get it fixed when I get back. Just to make sure, we are going to trade out vehicles on Sunday and while I am at work Monday, he is taking my car to the dealership to get an opinion and to order a new windshield. He said if they did not think I should drive it that I could keep the minivan and drive it. That is great, except I will have to get the van serviced and I already have had my car serviced. Oh well, my car needed anyway and I can't complain if they are nice enough to loan me their van.

I was thinking about this whole situation while I was making dinner. I have had SEVERAL windshields replaced due to stones and debris flying at me. I have always been able to get the windshield replaced within 24 hours. Do you not have a shop near by that specializes in this? Why would you have to go through a dealership? heck, the one day I took a stone from a semi on the way to the mall. I stopped at the glass place first and they were slow and able to replace it while I waited! I have also known them to come to your place of business and fix it in the parking lot...if it's not raining. This is who we have used... http://www.safelite.com/ I can't imagine that you wouldn't be able to get it fixed tomorrow or Monday. Heck, they are right by the mall, just drive on up tomorrow and we'll meet you for lunch while it's being fixed!

For this, the insurance company for the truck where the stuff fell will pay for the windshield, but it happened after the insurance company was closed today. If I fix it on my own before the agent inspects the vehicle, they will deny the claim. I have no idea how much a windshield will cost. Would it be better to just pay myself and forget it?

I never really thought about going to anyone other than the dealership where I bought the car. Because of the warranty on the car, that's where I get everything done. For this, the insurance company for the truck where the stuff fell will pay for the windshield, but it happened after the insurance company was closed today. If I fix it on my own before the agent inspects the vehicle, they will deny the claim. I have no idea how much a windshield will cost. Would it be better to just pay myself and forget it?

If you have a Safelite near you, call them and ask!! Thier website says they are open 24/365. I know for us, that our insurance pays 100% on windshields. All I had to do was call State Farm from the parking lot, tell them what happened and that I was at Safelite. They faxed Safelite an okay to do the work. I would have never been able to process the claim with the trucking co. He threw a rock, it crack my shield, my insurance co footed the bill. You could call the national number for you car insurer and then talk to Safelite. If they can't do it over the weekend, maybe they could come to your office and do it in the lot for you! To me, having my own car to drive is more important. On the Safelite site, you can also get a quote, just enter your make and model!! HTH

We are SO lazy tonight! I told the boys we were going to clean tonight. NONE of us have any desire! I told them we would forgo cleaning tonight, but that means that right after the game tomorrow, we HAVE to clean and we HAVE to start packing!! They agreed....we'll just see how much we actually get done!

It must be a day for crazy stuff to happen to good people. While we were out looking at my car, I saw the neighbors putting out chairs, etc in the yard. I thought maybe they were having a party or something over there this weekend. I just went out to get my mail and spoke to Lillian and she said that they decorating for a wedding. She said that her daughter (32, second marriage) has been planning a wedding for months now and she had reserved a church. The wedding is tomorrow and someone called this afternoon from the church and cancelled her wedding. It seems that the paster's mother died and the funeral will be at the church. Can you believe that. Lillian said that they called a few places around town and every place big enough for the number of guest that they invited is booked for tomorrow. They gave up and are having the wedding in Lillian's backyard. Poor thing. The main highway through here, runs right by that backyard. We live right in town. The traffic and noise will be aweful tomorrow evening at 6:00. Thank God that they don't live in my house, I have absolutely no yard. It takes about 10-15 minutes to mow and trim it.

What else is going to happen? I can't wait to go to bed and hope that when I wake up tomorrow things have changed around here.

I hope everyone is well. I am trying to get everyone packed. Which I guess I am a little behind. I am getting very excited. This will be our first cruise. Not only do we board next Saturday but it also will be my birthday. I think this will be one of my favorites. We are taking dd's girl scout troup to see the play of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" tomorrow. I think it will be a nice one. I love all the pictures everyone is sharing. Fall is a very pretty time of year with all the leaves changing color but I also feel it is a sad time of year. Spring is my favorite. Well, I better go and try to get more packed. I don't know where a Safelite is here, or where the closest would be, but I did call the national number for the insurance company, and they told me to go in to the local office on Monday, file the claim and let the adjuster take photos. My insurance won't pay, they will make the trucking company. The truck did stop, we called the police and have an accident report. I'm sure what will happen is that my insurance will fix the window and then get reimbursed from his insurance. That's how it usually happens.
