October '07, when to book?

I have finally decided that we will be going sometime in early to mid October. We could even push it up to a couple of the last days of September if there are any deals.

When should I book my hotel?

I'm still on the fence about the dining plan. We will be traveling with an 18 month old, so we aren't sure how many sit-downs we are going to do.

Just because I am paranoid about not getting a room in the resort that I want, or that all the airlines will suddenly book up and I'd have to fly at odd hours, I usually book as soon as I can. For example, I booked my Sept '07 trip in Sept '06. I guess I tend to live by the old adage "there's no better time than the present".

Your post sounds strangely familiar! :rotfl:

I am paranoid as well. Is it true that if you book through a travel agent, you can take advantage of codes that come up after you book? Also, if you book a package, can you also take advantage of codes that come up later?

"Book now" is my philosophy as well. If it's room-only, you can always cancel and rebook if new codes come out.

Thanks everyone. DH wants us to wait, but I'll start working on him. Our budget allows us to stay at one of the moderate priced resorts. I'm thinking POR, but not sure.

If you book online for room, tickets and DDP, do they charge you credit card immediately or when you check in? I am in the same boat about booking now or later. But if I can book the reservation for all of the above and not have to pay until we go in December, that would be great. I was hoping to save up the money before booking(around June) so that everything would be paid in full but if I can book now and pay later:yay: :yay: :yay:

Someone may correct me but I read that if you book a package (room, ticket & dining or not) its a 200 deposit and the balance can be paid at check in. We are also getting ready to book a trip in october. Have a great trip.

If you're doing a package (which is the only way to get DDP), then you have to pay a $200 deposit up front, and then the remainder is due 45 days prior to your arrival.

That's not true for room only reservations, only packages.

Thank You! I wasn't sure, thought I had read something like that. That's good to know since we are planning on doing a package. Thanks again.

I just booked sept. 26 - oct. 4 and had to put $200 down and pay the rest by sept. 1st

I booked it!! :goodvibes

We didn't get the DDP though. I couldn't talk DH into that...I'll take what I can get at this point. My TA said I could add it on, so I plan to "map out" our meals with estimated prices and then see what DH says.

I wanted to go ahead and get the room because I'm paranoid and a worrier. We decided on the POFQ because of its size and theme.

I try booking as soon as I can. My family and I are planning to go to the MNSSHP and the food and wine festival... SO I will be booking our rooms as soon as I can.. Just have to fugure out what date I want... GL

We will be there Oct. 3-9, so we'll miss you. I wonder if any other Dissers will be there.

There are several "Going in October" threads around the boards. Check out the "Doing the Happy Dance" :dance3: sub-topic under Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies.

We are going in mid Ocotber also. I'm all new to this too. Is it better to book through a TA or on your own. And if on your own, where is the best place to look and anything I must watch out for? Thanks!
:cool1:

This is a wonderful resort. YOu won't be disappointed. There's a launch that
takes you right to DTD and the Food Court is so cool. It looks like an abandoned
Mardi Gras Warehouse. Enjoy! :thumbsup2
