Oct visit: an extra day - weekend or weekday?

Going to Disneyland for 4 days in Oct. Trying to decide how to arrange those 4 days. I know we're going on a Thurs, Friday (hoping for a MHW party on this day), and Sat. The question is whether to add a Sunday at the end of the trip, or a Wed at the beginning of the trip.

Seems to me the pros and cons break down as follows...

Sunday means more total hours in the Disneyland experience.
Sunday means more night-time hours (which is a plus).
Sunday means more sets of F! And fireworks as backup (in case of cancellation).

But...

Wed means less crowds (my DGF has never been and has never really dealt with large crowds and is likely to be overwhelmed.)
Wed means less lines (my knees are shot, and she has a sciatic issue – so standing times could be more of an issue than we would like.)
Wed means a build up, which each day getting “bigger and bigger”...which could add to a sense of drama for somebody whose never been to DL before.

Or, in short...less crowded versus more night-time Disneyland. Which would you pick?

Your reason for Sunday are correct.

However, for someone's first time, Wednesday might be the better option. With shot knees and sciatic issues, less people in the parks would help get through the lines as well as walking anywhere.

We did a full weekend once. Due to the shear number of people that pack in there for Sat and Sun, never again. The evenings on both days were shoulder to shoulder as you walked about the park. Lines were beyond max'ed.

When I book a 4 or 5 day trip it will begin on a Sunday or end on a Saturday. That give us all the evening entertainment that isn't scheduled through the week.

Was the shoulder to shoulder weekends in October? We're doing the week before Halloween to avoid some of actual halloween crowds. We're doing MHP, so I figure that kind of acts like an extra weekend night anyway.
