We will be going to WDW this fall. This will be our first trip and our boys will be 15, 12, and 9. When is the better time to go, the last week of Oct, or the first week of Dec? We will only have 5 full days at the parks.
TIA

Oct will be a bit more crowded than the first week of Dec. Both are good times to go though. You can hit MNSSHP in Oct and MVMCP in Dec. I was there last Dec 4-9 and there were not really any lines. Weather can be unpredicable--while I was there it was, hot, then cold and rainy.

I've never been the first part of Dec., but would love to go. I have been twice in Oct. The first time was in '95 and it was GREAT!! The last time was last Oct and it was hotter than I thought it would be (also our first trip with kids, which made a difference, I'm sure.) I think Dec. would be great because of the decorations. I don't know about the weather, though. We were there in Jan. and were surprised at how COLD it was. We needed jackets everyday, even during the hottest part of the day, except our last day. Hope this helps.

We didn't know which week we should go either so I did some checking into which would be cheaper the last week of October or the first week in Dec. this is what I have found, with the disney club I can stay Nov 28- Dec 5 with park hoppers for $150 less than I could have stayed for 7 nights with the fairy tale package. For us it will be better because we will be off for Thanksgiving and the day after so it will just add to our days to finally be able to go to universal studios. The rates are cheaper than plus we will get to see all the christmas stuff. The one thing that really made us decied to go with park hoppers instead of the package is that we won't be albe to go to TL water park because it will be closed at that time for rehab. I know its long but I hope it helps

We've gone right after Thanksgiving for many years but last year we decided to go the last week of Oct. We had a blast - it was warmer than Dec. so we hit both waterparks which was really fun. The other fun thing is the food and wine festival. We also did MNSSHP which was really fun. Dec. is fun too though not as warm - the decorations are beautiful, the candlelight proc. is so wonderful, and MVMCP is a blast. I think either time you can't go wrong but if you are looking for warmer weather and water parks I would go in Oct.

DECEMBER!!! The parks are decoratd for christmas and it is gorgeous!

I have been both times of year and even though last year's weather in December was far from perfect my vote would still be December. Crowds are a little lighter in December and it's a little cheaper since it's value season but October is very nice too. I don't think you can really go wrong whichever week you choose.

We have visited at both times - Halloween week and first week of December. While the weather is a bit more predictable in October, I totally agree with beansmom - seeing the parks decorated for the holidays is a tremendous treat, plus the crowds are lighter as an added bonus. Go for December and be sure and spend some time visiting the various Disney hotels to see the decorations.

What is more important to you - swimming, or holiday atmosphere? That should determine when you go.

Two years ago we were there both the last week of Oct and the first week of December. October has slightly more dependable weather. We were able to enjoy the pool more than we have during our December trips. Beware though, it can still get cold in the evening in October. We did both MNSSHP and MVMCP on those trips. IMHO, MVMCP is the better of the two. We also prefer the holiday atmosphere, so my choice would be December. Both will have relatively low crowds, with October being slightly more crowded.

Good luck deciding, and you really can't go wrong either way.

We decided to go during December because of the xmas decorations. I'm really looking forward to seeing every all the resorts with their decorcations up and the parks too. I know that we'll be giving up the waterparks unless it's going to be warm when we're there--which I hope it will be one day, but the decorations was deciding factor. I figure this will not be our last visit so it'll give us another reason to go during October next year.
