How will crowds be during this time? We will go into DLR on Sun. Oct. 7 thru Thurs. Oct. 11. The 11-15th is Utah's Fall Break - we will miss most of that.

What will Park Hours be like? Any idea what days the Halloween party will be? Crowds? Attractions?

Thanks for the response - we have been to DLR numerous times - but not in October in about 6 years.

Utah Education Association (Union) - they usually have their convention in October. A lot of schools put their UEA/Fall Break around that time. I just assumed that since Alpine School District's Break was that weekend that the UEA convention was also that weekend. (Didn't actually check)

Those are the dates we will be there! Phoenix area schools are on break too.

There is also a thread about Gay Days and Columbus Day that had some info about crowd levels. Sounds like it will be busy, but not New Year's or Summer busy, just busy for October. I've also deducted that we will be there after the Halloween decorations have been put up, so we shouldn't have a problem with many ride refurbs.

"What is UEA?"

The joke is that it's an acronym for Utah Enters Anaheim. Luckily, Disneyland is just a day's drive for most people living here, and lots of those people have family in California. It's a long enough break to drive down to spend a few days at Disney or wherever else.

It's frustrating that the Alpine District is different from everyone else's break. My sister lives in Davis County, and we finally decided that this would be the year that we would do a big family trip to Disneyland for the Halloween party. Well, our breaks don't match up, so we are going to go the week in between the two districts' breaks.

If I remember correctly and someone will correct me if I'm wrong, the Halloween parties have been on Tuesdays and Fridays (end of September ? through Halloween). If that's the case this year, we are going to shoot for the party on the 16th. (Is it too soon to start my annual cries for the Headless Horseman and some semblance of the "Boo to You" Parade to make their way down Disneyland's Main Street?!)

Disneyland in October is so much fun! The Halloween Party, decorations, special treats, Halloween merchandise, decent crowds (the definition of "busy" varies from person to person), and pleasant weather depending on where you're from. I'm sure you'll have a great time!

Utah's official Fall Break/UEA is October 18-19. For whatever reason, our district -- Alpine and I'm not sure what others -- have the 11, 12, and 15th off, so most of Utah will be out of school the 18th and 19th.

As far as whether or not it's "busy" really depends on what that is to you. (Just deleted a long explanation to get to my point). I've learned over the years on this board and the WDW forum that people have different thresholds. For some, the thought of waiting longer than 20 minutes is close enough to torture that they'll plan their trip to the nano-second to avoid such long waits. (That's where wise use of the FastPass system comes into play.) For me, I'm okay with waiting 30-minutes for Big Thunder or 45-minutes for Toy Story Mania. I do use FastPasses and rider switch when possible, but my objective is just to be there and roll with it.

Based on that, I would say that October isn't really busy. There may be some bottlenecks going from Land to Land or you may have to wait a bit for a ride if you haven't utilized FastPass, but it will definitely be manageable. And I think that's key, being able to go and not feel like you're being swallowed whole into a vortex of strollers, tourists, and locals. In October, I've never had that experience, and I've been to Disney on New Year's and 4th of July. October is pretty pleasant.

Also and based only on Utah's Fall Break, it's just one district that is out for the days you plan on being there. I didn't see any major conventions going on at the Convention Center which helps. And with the economy being what it is and October being just before Christmas, I imagine some people will forego their Disney trip.

In the end, you should be fine and just remember that any day at Disney beats a day at home. And if it helps, we'll be there, but we do try to be polite and friendly to the other guests too.

@all american - where do your kids go to school? I've seen the quote in your siggie on a car at my kid's school.

My sister lives in Davis County, also and their break is different.

We've been over Fall Break/UEA before (our first family trip) and it was a pretty rushed, hectic trip. Plus we had our DS then 17 (who hates DLR ) so he wasn't the most excited for the trip. We did know how to use FP (mostly) but didn't know the order for Fantasyland. We did use the computer program (totally lost the name ) that lists ride order for you and that made a BIG difference for us.

We're looking forward to our trip since we had to cancel our trip for THIS WEEK! I'm super bummed that we have to wait 7 more months to go.

I think we'll plan on going in on Sunday evening - since we'll get into town around 8 ish and then enjoy full days Monday through Friday. I think we'll also hit the Halloween Party - not sure which day.

Has there been a price difference on Halloween Party Tickets for Tues. vs. Friday?

We will be there the 4th through the 11th. We went during this time 2 years ago and had so much fun(only did 3 and a half days that time). The weather was great and the crowds were not bad at all. On Monday it rained and NO ONE was in the park. It was wet but pretty much everything was a walkon. We had a great time. I hear last year was pretty hot and crowds were a lot worse. Hoping that won't be the case this year. We didn't do the Halloween party last time but will be doing it for sure this year. I can't wait and maybe we will see each other in the park.

Brady's Mom: We're in Cedar Hills. I don't have it on my car, but I did stencil it on some wood and hung it in my bathroom. (I don't remember where I first saw that quote although The Quilted Bear is a good guess because I love that store! ) It's such a positive message. (I should probably keep it handy for those times I do go to Disney and the day doesn't go as well as I'd like because my toddler is throwing a tantrum so someone takes her out of her stroller which tips over because it has too much stuff on it thus spilling drinks and souvenirs everywhere.)

That's too bad you had to cancel your trip. We are trying to find a time to go this summer, but between family activities, swim lessons, birthdays, and my parents flying in at some point, I just don't know when we could make it. Even a quick trip to my in-laws doesn't seem feasible right now, and they just live in Corona. So, we're looking at October too. It seems like forever away, but I do love the anticipation of a Disney trip more than anything. Luckily, we'll have lots of other Disers who will start counting down the days with us once the dates for the Halloween party are released.

For our October trip, I do want to spend a few days at the Disneyland Hotel. Like I said, we usually stay with my in-laws (who I love!) but want that Disney vacation feel. Our 7-year-old is dying to try the monorail slide, and my younger sister is living with us right now. She's a fantastic help and has always wanted to ride "Haunted Mansion Holiday," so we thought we'd treat her as a "thank you" for all of her help. And since my older siblings will probably go in October too, it makes the most sense to be centrally located near the park.

In my experience the weekdays in October are great, even with the Fall breakers. I don't remember what the pricing for the Halloween party was because my MIL bought the tickets. She's a pass holder, so she was able to get the pass holder discount. However, I think there are only some days where that can be applied. Since my family will be there this year, though, we'll buy the tickets this year. I guess the bright side of having 7 months to wait is that it gives us PLENTY of time to start saving.
