Hopefully I will report more soon. Overall we had a great trip. The kids had more fun than we did and they loved the kids clubs.
Having never been on a Disney Cruise before I have to say a few things right off the bat. I was HUGELY disappointed with the food. The customer service was NO different than any other cruise I have been on. I NEVER once saw our cruise director around the ship (only saw him on stage each night for the show). And Castway Cay is just like any other beach (only got to the family one though)

Don't get me wrong, we had a great time and booked again. But my first impression is the DCL is really not much different from any other line.

The BEST part of the whole cruise was having other Dis'ers on board. I couldn't do anything or go anywhere without seeing people I knew. It was great. Felt like I had a ton of friends on board with me (and I did!). That alone made the whole trip worth it.

Who was your CD? We had Clayton on Oct 17th and we saw him lots of places... he was always out and about.

We had Clayton too. We were everywhere on the ship. We spent time at all 3 pools and went to at least 2 activities a day (even at port days). And I never saw the man.

Now, some of the cruise staff, like David and Melanie, we saw all the time.

I thought Clayton was pretty visible too. DS got his picture taken with him at Till We Meet Again.

I will say that the food this time around was not as good as our last DCL cruise. I was blown away last time, but this time it was just ok.

It's interesting how perspectives differ. We were on the same cruise, and I was very pleased with the food. I particularly enjoed the 5 spiced fish (Dover sole) and the tuna. The lamb chops and the scallops were also very good. The only food I was disappointed in was the breakfast buffet at Topsiders, but once I stuck to the oatmeal and yogurt all was good. The kids loved the pizza and chicken strips on deck nine. And oh the fruity cocktails...(literally half of my stateroom charges were fruity cocktails).

We didn't particluarly seek out the CD, but I did have a nice chat with him one afternoon when I saw he was from Minneapolis. Idon't really know what is expected of him, but he seemed a very charming affable guy.

As for Castaway Cay, we walked to the far end of the family beach a it was very sparsely populated. It was wonderful there. According to my husband worth the cruise fare in and of itself.

I guess we don't have any other cruises to compare it to, but we loved our cruise and rebooked onboard for 10/15/2011 and we are looking forward to it.

I think Disney CD's are totally different than on other ships. I know when I went on RCCL I was surprised the CD ran the activites. On Disney the cruise staff does that. The only time you really see the CD is during the shows and at dinner and of course your morning announcements...oh how I dream of Brent waking me up every morning:cloud9:

I didn't like Clayton at all. I felt like he was always trying to sell us on Disney!

Umm...we ARE on Disney buddy, you can relax a bit :rolleyes1

Jeff, hopefully you got the little care package we left you :thumbsup2
The lady at guest services almost didn't allow me to leave it for you!

Thank you for your honest opinion. I'd love to hear more about your trip. Sounds like you had a nice time overall.

We had a great time! I thought the food was great(i am a picky eater) and our servers were the best! Clayton played basketball with my husband and sons and they had a lot of fun. We rebooked for 10/29/11 and even have some friends joining us.:yay::yay::yay:

We were on this cruise as well, our 4th DCL cruise. overall loved the cuirse. Clayton is my least favorite of the CD's we've had - Brent is our fave, then Christian. The ACD - Mark, I think - didn't even bother to introduce himself when he did a few pre-show announcements, which I thought was odd and I don't think I ever saw him aside from the theater. Clayton is ok - but after the vacation dance - he doesn't seem that comfy in the CD role. I loved him as DJ Hollywood - I think that was the name he went by.

We found the food to be just fine. The only menu I really didn't like at all was the "show" menu in Animator's Palate. Also- I wish they'd go a little lighter on the mushrooms and olives in general - not my favorite tastes and they're all over all the menus.

That said, we had a fabulous cruise and I'm looking forward to the next one mid-January with my sisters!

We were on this cruise as well. We didn't care much for Clayton either. We loved Christian and Andy on our previous cruises. We were really disappointed in Clayton. Food was wonderful as always. We really had a great time and are booked for the 02/21/2010 4 night Wonder along with the 09/18/2010 TA. :cool1:

Just got back from the 11/7 - 11/14 Eastern sailing on the Magic, and I have to say, I couldn't agree more. I read all over the boards how great the food was, and I was *hugely* disappointed in the food. It was average at best. Even Palo's did not live up to the hype. It was good but I've definitely had better. As for customer service, our regular servers were good but not fantastic. Our Palo server (we had the same one for brunch and dinner) was amazing, though. And the cute Australian fitness center guy who taught the spin classes was great too. ;)

Overall it was a good trip, but I do have to agree that my kids enjoyed it more than my husband and I. We will cruise with another line next time. It was just a little too wholesome (and even cheesey at times) for us. The Pirates deck party for example--we were so looking forward to it, but it was cheesey with extra cheese on top. My 7-year-old wanted to leave after 10 minutes of it--she said it was "boring". She didn't even want to stay for the fireworks.

Hey All! When Brent will be back on the Magic? and who is Wonder CD right now that Christiaan is on vacation?
