I want to go back to hershey park and be a kid again.

Ride the SOOPER DOOPER LOOPER..........My first BIG roller coaster.......

Living Hershey does have advantages. Neighbor (works for Hershey) sent her little boy over to our house day before yesterday with a 5lb premium milk chocolate bar. YUM!! What to do with all of that? I made fudge and delivered it around the neighborhood today as a thank you to those who do the blowing for the entire block when it snows. She said she has lots more where that came from. Guess she liked the fudge.

I know some people are planning to go directly to the Cape and stay at a hotel over there, but I m curious if anyone is staying on the Dis Properties? We are going to get in on Friday morning and planning on having a chill day around Downtown Disney and may be going to Poly for fireworks after? Anyone else going to be around the area?

Its killing me not to rent a car, but I drive for a living and since I grew up there, it would be hard not to drive around and see old friends.(Espesically, since is was a family tradition to get food from Friendlies on I-drive when I was a kid after a day at Wet-n-Wild.Idk may be I m nuts, but this is the first time I just don't want to worry about anything and let Disney do that for me?!

We just booked a room at SSR but are hoping to be able to change to either BLT or VWL. We plan to fly in on Friday and attend MNSSHP. We rented a car to be able to drive to the port on Saturday morning.

I have a pre-day and a post day being spent at Port Orleans Riverside (love those beignets!). But...I am riding the fence on either MNSSHP or Epcot for the Wine & Food get together but...... WWYD & why??

1) Crowds levels during 2 days prior to Halloween (my DCL pre-day) and 6 days past halloween (my DCL post day); what has been your experience on each?? Opinions?

2) I have not been to Epcot's Food & Wine Festival- so what goes on during this event??

Also -

3). Anyone been to Chef Mickeys or Park Faire?? Opinions??


Any responses would be greatly appreciated



P.S. If you had to pick just one place to eat, where would you go and why?? I am tempted with Narcooses but am still looking.

No, We don't have Coffee Crisps in the US. I don't know what they are. The boys loved the Smarties you gave us in the FE exchange.

Well, then I will just have to switch out the Kit Kat (Canadian version) for the Coffee Crisps! Not many kids (at least that I know of ), go for the coffee crisps, but my 6 year old LOVES them!

Anyway, here is my .02

Do both!!! The Food and Wine during the day, MNSSHP, at night. The Food event has 20 plus food venues to choose from. You can munch your way around the lagoon and it will not cost you a fortune. HTe average price for a sample dish is $3-6. Some of them are large enough to share. It give you a chance to try something new.

The crowds the MNSSHP can be a bit much. We did it last year on Halloween, and it was a mess. But the crowd control was great so it was not so bad until you had to catch the bus back to your resort. Disney transportation has gotten better but they sill can not get it right.

Hands down we like chef Mickey. It is more open and the flow is great. Park, is too tight and can be loud. Both have the monorail so getting there is not a issue.

For dinner, we love O'Hana. If you want to catch a great viewing of the fireworks, Narcooses back area by the boat launch is great. You still get the music and a great view.

And by the way bring on the COLTS, we want to face Farve. it's payback for what we did to us

Ya got me curious

Huckleberries (I think) are only found in the mountains of the pacific northwest. They look kinda like blueberries, They are smaller and a little sweeter. They usually are a little more expensive cause there are fewer of them not to mention a pain to pick! You have to hike to them, someone usually gets stung ( I got stung 4 times one time) and there's lots of wild life... deer,elk,bears We have never ran into a bear but a few deer and 1 elk.

3). Anyone been to Chef Mickeys or Park Faire?? Opinions??

1900 Park Fare is nice, we did a character breakfast with Cinderella and Prince Charming. The tables were a little close and it was very busy, but fun just the same.

Chef Mickeys (IMHO) is one of the better Character dining experiences although it is probably the most expensive too. The buffet had a nice selection and there is a soft serve ice cream machine with assorted toppings. We had dinner, my guess is the ice cream isn't available during breakfast, but then in Disney anything is possible.

Part of the dining experience is to have your family photo taken with Chef Mickey, this photo is around $30. We were traveling with another DVC family and Catherine's classmate so there are a lot of folks in our photos.

I too will vouch for Chef Mickey's. We had brunch there early one morning. Expensive, but the food was Good and the Character Greetings Perfect!!

I would love to try MNSSHP again, but never on Halloween and I'm not too sure about the few days before either. Hopefully in 2011 when we cruise in Sept., we can go, but time will tell.

Here are my thoughts:

We are doing MNSSHP. I know it is going to be crowded but it is less expensive to buy these tickets than a 1 day park ticket and you can get into MK at 4pm so we will make the most of the time we have there. We went to MNSSHP when my children were 18 months & 3 yrs so they don't remember it so it will be really fun for them now that they are a little older and really understand Halloween (and maybe even remember it). I am sure it will be very crowded but we will have fun regardless.

As per Chef Mickeys vs. Park Faire, Chef Mickey wins!!!! The food is good and the character interaction is fantastic!!!!! Since all the characters at Park Faire are 'face' characters we found it took a LONG time to see them all. In fact we had seen everyone but Cinderella by the time we finished our meal (and seconds). My DD really wanted to see Cindy so we had to wait about a half an hour just sitting around at the table for her to finally make it to us.

As per just one place to eat....outside the parks....for us it is Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge. The kids love the fun atmosphere and we love the food. For a more refined dining experience, we have only eaten at California Grille. The food there was excellent and we did enjoy seeing the MK fireworks from the observation deck between our dinner & dessert.

I just got off the phone with DCL air deviation department with making a request to deviate my air; thus allowing me to arrive earlier in the day on my pre-day (Oct 29th).

I also just got off the phone with the DCL call center and upped my 1 day park w/hopper to a 2 day park ticket.

So this means now I can make a run at MNSSHP on (crossing my fingers) the 29th but if not available, then Epcot's Food & Wine Festival here I come!
And then on my post day (Nov 6th) & Epcot's Food & Wine festival / AK (I HAVE NEVER RIDDEN EXPEDITION EVEREST!) and then on the day I depart, boogy on down to Hollywood studios......vowing THIS TIME TO N-O-T be holding onto my seat (on TOT) when it drops you.

So......all of this has me to a thinking.....who all here IS heading out to MNSSHP??

Anywho - looks like my vacation is a beginning to take shape.

And yes - CHEF MICKEY it is on either any day that's avail while I am down in WDW. What's interesting here is I may just get a little "Goofy" here & add it on the am part of the day I depart to go to the port terminal. What can I say - DR. Pepper is my equivalent of everyone else's coffee.

Allright - gotta go for now - I am watching today the Jim Henson movie, "Labrynth" for the very first time. ONLY 62 MORE DAYS 2 GO until my Adventures by Disney vacation.

Great to finally be home...

OK I have a question for you all. Which Hotel is the closet to the magic kingdom, And by that I mean Easiest to get there (walking????) We have only stayed at BCV and I love it there but I'm assuming (since we've never gone) that the only way to get to the MK is take a bus of some sort.

OK I have a question for you all. Which Hotel is the closet to the magic kingdom, And by that I mean Easiest to get there (walking????) We have only stayed at BCV and I love it there but I'm assuming (since we've never gone) that the only way to get to the MK is take a bus of some sort.

Bay Lake Tower is the closest, but hard to get in even if you are a DVC member so the Contemporary is the next closest (walking distance) but the Polynesian and Grand Floridian are a short monorail ride way.

Both the Contemporary and Grand Floridian are one stop away on either side of the Magic Kingdom and the Polynesian is past GF as the monorail goes so all are very convenient to MK.

Our favorite resort is the Wilderness Lodge, since there is a boat that goes from WL to MK it is also another good choice.


BTW...from BCV you can take a bus or you can take one of the Friendship boats to the International Gateway at the World Showcase in EPCOT, walk to the front entrance and take a monorail to the Ticket & Transportation Center, then another monorail from the TTC to MK. A bus is easier, but not your only option.
