We are now on the Halloween Magic Sailing and all I can say is WOW! We sure picked a super group to sail with! We are Me, DH, DD (15) and DD (12) and are introducing my parents to DCL as they have cruised many many times but this will be their first Disney cruise. Are there many teen girls in this group? Thanks for letting us join the group.

Nice to see you here and

WELCOME!!!!

My DD will be 14 when we sail my DS will be 17.

WELCOME!!

WELCOME I have a DD12 DS15 and DS6 my older kids will be thrilled, They keep asking me "so how many kids my age?"

I know we wll be dressing up for pirate night and I will definitely have the kids dress up for Halloween. I had not thought about me and DH yet, but Halloween is his favorite holiday, so if it's up to him, I'm sure there will be a costume of some sort in my future.

I had a brief moment of craziness yesterday because I received a pin code for 20/30/40 percent off a resort stay. We cannot do Disney World and a cruise is the same year. Oh, how I wish we could take a marathon two week vacation with one week at Disney and one week on the boat. Perhaps if I win the lotto?

Hi! I'm back on page 50 of this thread, desperately trying to catch up. Anyway, I noticed that several of you are staying at the Beach Club or BCV before the cruise. My wife Joan(ie), and I, are booked to stay at BCV from Oct. 24th until the 29th. On the 29th, we'll drive to the port and spend the night at the Radisson nearby. We've done this twice before. They have a package that allows you to park at the hotel for free during the cruise, and they transport passengers and luggage to the terminal.
We greatly enjoyed our first Food and Wine festival at Epcot this past Fall, and are anxiously looking forward to experiencing it again - not to mention our first Western Caribbean cruise! Looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible - maybe before the trip at WDW.

Sam (and Joanie)

We are staying at the Country Inn and Suites, got a good rate on a kids suite through priceline, and for just $20.00 more we can park there and use their shuttle to and from the port.
Anyone else planning on staying here? We've decided, barring any fabulous airline deals, we are driving down from home (a 24 hour drive). I'm just trying to figure out when we should leave. I'd like to check into our Hotel by 4pm, no later on the Friday, So probably leave Wednesday afternoon? (I hate driving at night through the middle states, too many dead deer and a near miss with one and another near miss with two dogs, in the middle of the highway). DH is ALL for the driving!

OK just MAP QUESTED what it would be for us to drive from Idaho........... Total Travel Estimate: 41 hours 49 minutes / 2789.16 miles
I think we'll fly... I can't take my kids out of another week of school,I'm already pushing it with 6 missed days. My youngest not really the prob. but it's my high schooler and my daughter who goes to a charter school...THEY REALLY don't like you missing days. I haven't told them yet...I"m scared they might yell:eek: Ill wait tell next school year to say something.
If anyone see any great airfare PLEASE let me know! It's almost as much for us to fly to the cruise as it is to take the cruise.

I know we have not posted in a while but with the the holidays and work it has been a little nuts. We are flying down on the 28th and staying @ BLT. We are planning to do MNSSHP. Any one else? I like the lanyard idea and Palo. We are going to try to get in on Pirate night. We have taken the cruise before and do not prefer the menu. Now that I am working from home, I should be on the post's more often.

We are definitely flying down. There is absolutely no way we can be in a car for that long with DD and DS.

I'm not sure where we are staying the night before yet. It really depends upon the airline schedule (JetBlue and Southwest are not up for November yet). I was hoping to have DD go to school on Friday and get a later afternoon flight. If that works out, we might just stay at the Hyatt at MCO since I would not want to then get a car and drive to the Port. If we end up flying in earlier on Friday, possible we may then rent a car, cancel our DCL transfers and stay at the Port. DH is voting for the Hyatt right now and keeping the DCL transfers (probably because he knows I would make him do all the driving to and from the port! :) )

I have stayed at the hyatt many times and love it. We also fly Jet Blue out of EWR. If you stay at the Hyatt, book it on your own. Pay for the transfers with DCL but tell them you need them from the Hyatt. If you are going to rent a car, it all depends on how many you are. Weight your options. As a added benefit, the hyatt will send a porter to the luggage carousel to get your bags. :thumbsup2 The way we look at it, is after a long day of working and the hassle of the flight, it is very nice to have the hotel once you get off the mini-monorail into the terminal.

Yeah we are also thinking of staying at the HYATT we got a day room there after our last cruise. The rooms are really nice, comfy beds, clean, and they have a great pool. There's also several restaurant options right there in the airport not to mention the mini mall. We usually stay at BCV the night before but I think it'll be a lot easier just to hang out at the airport. Last year we also tried getting our own car service instead of the disney shuttle. we used happy limo and were really happy. depending on your group size and what kind of car you chose (van, car, limo) it might be cheaper...it was for us until my DH got crazy and up graded to a limo:rolleyes: they will make one stop for you at a grocery store so you can pick up what ever. We grabbed a case of water for $4.99 instead of paying an arm and a leg on the ship. You are aloud to carry drinks on they just need to be in a bag, so I packed a gym style bag in one of our other suite cases. we also grabbed some gum (since you cant get it on the ship) and some candy for the kids to take to the movie theater (again to save money) work out FABULOUSLY we will probably do that again this time.

You know if several of us stay at the same place we could look at going in on a larger shuttle. might save some $$$ and we could chate on the way to the port...Only warning I like to be at the port EARLY:cool1::cool1::cool1: (We got there around 9:30 last time)....Just throwing it out there:rotfl:

Real quick has any one sailed in oct and this might be a dumb question but do we need to worry about the weather and the cruise being cancelled????

MAYBE I"M CRAZY BUT... has any one flown thru an airport that has one of those new body scanners? They are getting ready to put one in here and i'm sure they will have one at MCO by the time we go if not all ready. But my DH and I are a little concerned about them:confused3 Not thrilled about it for me or DH but what ever, but it kind of concerns me to have my kids go threw, it pretty much gives them a naked picture of my kids and there been some recent problems with some of the workers. That's all I know right now but I'll try to to get more info from DH. He a private contractor and dose work with the government. I just don't want those kinds of pics of my kids out there to get any ones hands.

OK one more question I'm sorry but how might we add our photo to the group album?

We cruised in October 2009 and the weather was gorgeous every day. I think the weather can be a concern in any month really. I think they hardly ever cancel a cruise altogether, although cruises have been directed to other ports due to weather. October 30th is really late in hurricane season, practically at the end of it, so it's certainly not as risky as going in the prime months.

I've also been to Aruba in the month of October and to the Bahamas in the month of October. October is the month DH and I got married and is our usual time of the year to go away on vacation. We've been lucky wth great weather each time. Overcast one day in the Bahamas, but that was about it.

We have cruised 7 times in the September/ October time frame and never an issue. In the past 7 years I am aware of one cruise that got cut short due to a storm but none that have been cancled. I alway get the travel insurance just in case. The ship can move around the storms so like someone said where you begin and end the cruise may change as well as any of the port in the cruise. Not to worry DCL will take care of us.

For those of you looking at who is planning to be where the night before the cruise. I am sorry we will not be able to join you as we will be on the Magic traveling back from my favoite stop Castaway!! Lois

Its cool ask all the questions you want...now is the time to ask em..
And we love questions gives us a reason to post.

As far as pictures you have to load them to a photosite...We use photobucket i think others use snapfish, maybe kodak but not sure.

Then when they are loaded then you take a link from there and put the link
here

OCTOBER..
WellOur first cruise was in October and we did miss CC because of huricane Noel...It wasnt bad the whole time, BUT many times we heard the crew say it was the worst they had experienced...The waves were soooo sooo high, Many people got sick, one of our disladies threw up in the stairwell, and one of the diskids at our table threw up in a wine glass at the table cuz he couldnt get to the bathroom in time. He did a good job not getting it everywhere.

But i doubt they would cancel it unless it was that they were like "blocked" in and it was close and it blew up the ship or something...oh lord that was a bit out there........

Wow, i dont know anything about these but seems, a bit creepy.

Janet and I are fed up with the airlines and them feeling like they have the right to sell me one flight and change it to whatever they want; so we are driving from Kansas City MO. It will take two days but I won't have months of checking to assure they don't make a change that will not work!!

I know that not everyone can do that but I am pleased that I can chose not to fly! Getting down off my soap box now.
