Not cruise related but my friend just sent me this video link. She had seen the ad for auditions, so she took her son Jared to the audition. A few weeks later, they were called back, Jared had been chosen for this segment! His segment is now completed and published! What a great little Actor! He plays BEN in the following "Hinterland's Who's Who" video about BIODIVERSITY! I thought it SO Great, I'm sharing it here!

He is super!!! We just finished a long weekend of our DD playing Miss Hannigan in Annie at a Chicago theatre (where Burns and Allen played, remember them?) and love to see other kids involved in theatre. Our DD's current dream is to intern at either Dis or onboard as she works for her BFA. Your friend's son looks like he is on the same path. Good blessings sent his way.

I have been reading but not posting for a long time on our thread! Iam so excited for this cruise! Does anyone think that the main dining will open up? Iam on the waiting list.

We've booked Captain Marvins!! EyesforMickey and I are in. If you wish to join us, just visit www.captainmarvins.com

We are booked for Tuesday November 2nd, on the 1/2 Day excursion from 10am to 1pm. This will be 3 stops (Coral Gardens, Barrier Reef and Sting Ray City)
You need to give a credit card number to hold the reservation, but once there can either have them charge your card OR pay in cash (Your card is not charged prior to arriving for the excrusion. There is a comment section at the bottom of the registration page, in there just ask them to link your reservation with the one made by Judy Baggott.

Check out Captian Marvin's video's on their site, you can see from there how deep the water is. In Stingray City, you are in pretty shallow water, standing on the bottom of the ocean. We're going to have a BLAST!!

Just sent in our request for reservations. Can't want to do this as part of a DIS group. It is a great excursion but being with my DIS friends can only make it BETTER!!!!

For those who are on the early dining wait list keep the hope. However if you need to have late dining there are tricks that can make it work. For example you can get something on deck 9 to hold the little ones over. Send the kids to the club as soon as they are done eating. Or pull two chairs together and put the little ones to bed in the diningroom. I have seen many a napkin used to cover sleeping kids.

One advantage of late dining is I think fewer kids sleep though the shows if you eat later. I can tell you that there are advantages and disadvantages to all the dining times. Do not worry it can all be worked out.

Hey is anyone keeping a list of those of us trying to do Capt Marvins together? Lois

So far I see the following DISER Listed:
tjbaggott
Knewton64
nenner1
eyes4mickey
Grandma4ever

If I missed anyone let me know. Uless this is al;readyu being done I will keep the list. Lois

I have just joined the disboard. I am threeiscrazy's mom and my DH and I are very excited to be going on this cruise with all the grandkids.

Welcome to the thread. Going with Grandkids is almost as good as going without any kids.

With our family only being 3, I thought the DCL transfers would be a decent option. The idea of getting a limo is out of the question cause not enough people. So today I looked at rentals. I m doing my best to NOT to drive (I do this for a reason). We are staying at the ASMv. So there isn't a way to get to DCL any earlier that 1/2pm? I was hoping may be there would have been a bus leave a lot earlier like 9/10am. So am I really up a creek with out a paddle? If I get there that late, is there no food? i have heard stories of little to no food. My kid will kill me. I m sure I m going to have some more nOOb questions soon.

I'm keeping track. IsJones is also going. So if you are a family of two?, that makes 19 people so far booked! Awesome!

Hmmmm I'm always jumping on the bandwaggon to help others (my nature), and in this case, I LOVE to spread the Pixie Dust. We are staying at a hotel near the port the night before. If I offered to get up early, drive to Orlando to fetch you all, would you take me up on it? Perhaps going back to our hote, would you be allowed to take our hotel's shuttle bus with us? I could check into it. Orlando is what, only an hour drive?
I know if you did take the DCL transfer, you'd be able to walk right onto the ship after check in, no waiting around. As for food, although it's been almost 4 years since the trip where we used DCL transfers from WDW to port, and I remember we arrived early afternoon, there was still plenty of food.
I WANT to be at the terminal when it opens. This will only be my second time being able to hang out in the terminal vs going in and right onto the boat. I LOVE hanging out in the terminal ( I know that will wear off after a few more cruises), but I also love being amongst the first people onto the ship!

Grab an early Magical Express back to the airport and catch the transport to the port from there. They begin to leave around 9 or 9:30 AM. That will get you to the port fairly early. Hope this helps.

Wow, I never thought of what night to book our Palo dinner on. I don't want to miss any of the great shows, but can you recommend a few nights to choose from? We've never been on the Magic before, and have thus never done a 7 nighter. Do we know yet what shows are on what nights? That would help me choose what I can miss. LOL.

This is one of the things I like the spreadsheet for (guess it's time to get that started!) I admit I haven't paid too much attention to DCL since I have been focised on my RCCL cruise. Now I can turn my focus back to DCL....but I'm not sure if anything has changed in the interim as far as rotations, shows, etc. One thing I do know is that soon the Golden Mickeys show (and menu I assume) will retire to be replaced by the new villians show. Don't know if they will chnage up the whole rotation/schedule for that or just slot it into Monday where GM is now, we'll have to wait and see. Other than that AFAIK the dinner show schedule is still something like this:

Saturday: Welcome Aboard Show/Rotational Menu/Casual
Sunday: Variety Act/Rotational Menu/Casual
Monday (subject to change): Golden Mickey's/Golden Mickey's menu/Formal
Tuesday: Twice Charmed/Rotational/Casual
Wednesday: Pirates Deck Party/Pirates ITC menu/Pirate or casual
Thursday: Disney Dreams/Captain's Gala/Semi Formal
Friday: Remember the Magic/Til We Meet Again menu/ Casual

HTH!

We're going to do the group brunch, so do I still need to make a brunch reservation if the only one we're doing is the brunch? Or do we all make our own brunch reservations and they get linked later?

I'm not sure on that. I think on other cruises I've been on there is a number to fax the request to, but I'm not sure if everyone needs their own reservations, sorry!

The "event" nights are Formal (Monday), Pirate (Wednesday) and Semi-Formal (Thursday) so regardless of rotation Tuesday is a good choice for Palo since you normally don't want to go on the first or last night, but that is just me.

Agreed! :thumbsup2 We also like Sunday on the Western. BUT.....We had our Palo dinner on Sunday night and brunch on Monday on our last cruise and that was a bit much....we were still not really hungry the next morning when it came time for brunch. Plus we love Palo and it seemed kind of a bummer to have all of our Palo over so early in the cruise. But sometimes with the reservations being so limited that is unavoidable.

Just sent in our request for reservations. Can't want to do this as part of a DIS group. It is a great excursion but being with my DIS friends can only make it BETTER!!!!

Wow too cool!

Just got our Capt Marvin's Confirmation e-mail. We are in!!! Also would be interested in doing a Video Share. I think we should however consider tipping the photographer for their time if we split the Video. They work hard to get good shots of everyone and it is their job to sell the video. I want to be fair.

Does anyone know if we can do this for sure. Sometimes they can make it so you can not copy the video. That is just a thought.

Can't wait to kiss a ray again. Lois

So excited! We just registered for Disney's Give a Day Get a Day! Yeah! We're making fleece tie blankets for Hati through Project Linus! This works out great for us. We're staying offsite at a condo for a week before the cruise and planning on doing a day at WDW, MNSSHP, Universal (can't wait to see the Harry Potter stuff!!) and Sea World.

Is it October yet?????

First off, I m completely blown away at your generosity. It amazes me that there are folks with a such a kind heart. However, I jumped the gun. I thought for sure that I was going to get a lower tax return :surfweb:... well it ended up being several hundred higher!:worship: So after talking with my wife about all the options, we are probably going to rent a car and stay near the port in one of the hotels there. I used to live about 25 mins north of there in Titusville. It will probably work out a little better over all this way.

As a child, when my family would take us to O-town for Wet-n-Wild, Disney, Sea World, etc.. we ALWAYS stopped in at Friendlies (mostly for the ice cream) on I-Drive. Since this is my kid's first trip to FL, I can continue that tradition. Then there is my wife's request to get us to Ron Jon. She loved going there when we went a couple years ago.. lol.. I can still remember that her first time on the beach seeing the Atlantic was at night, after Ron Jon, looking at... a cruise boat out at sea. How Fitting.

Now its just figuring out where to stay I'm thinking a few place

http://www.ronjonresort.com/ ,http://www.royalmansions.com/ , the Raddison or Country Suites.

On a side note: Include us in the MNSSHP, and we have late dinning. I swear this trip was supposed to be a cruise and 1 day at Disney... now its a cruise and 3 days/MnSsHp... Thank God our next vacation is going to be about 2 years after this!

Glad to hear it's all working out for you!
Use priceline for country Inn and Suites. I did and got a room for $49.00 (with taxes and fees it comes to $62.10) and that sure beats the $139.00 I would have otherwise paid! (If you select 2 1/2 star rating in Cape Canaveral at priceline, Country Inn and Suites is the ONLY Hotel that pops up, so you'd be certain to get that one!)

Hi ~ I've never used Priceline. Are you able to to book a room that holds 6 people?

I tried Priceline but got the cheapest rate at something like 80. So I did Hotwire, and got a place for about 49 (60 something with tax) for place similar to the Country Suites. Ended up at a hotel about 3 miles away, but its in walking distance to Ron Jon. Since we have a Car Rental its not that big of a deal pretty close to Dollar. Either way 60+60 (Hotel+Car) is better than 100+120 (ASmv+DCL).

Awesome! I found with priceline, I didn't get the room on my first try. I kept trying over a period of 3 or 4 days and finally got it.

As for a booking a room for 6 people, I don't know. Maybe call the Hotel first and ask if their Kids suite will sleep 6 people, then use priceline.

From what I know, all priceline rooms at Country Inn and Suites will be the KIDS SUITES, but once you get there, if it's a busy time of year, the hotel can actually move you to a regular room if they need to, but you are never charged for that. The kids suite has one Queen bed and a cove area for the kids that has a bunk bed and maybe also a single bed. If thats the case, then I'd think they can put 6 in there. :)
