Here to really just talk it out. We are planning a bucket list trip for my Mom to go to DW May 2018. Her health is not the best and we live out of the country and do not travel back to the states due to being in the process of adoption and not all of kids can currently travel with us. My mom's health prevents her from making out of country travel. My mom is still working, she is only 61. She gets two weeks off for vacation a year one to visit my sister and one to visit us. But had not been able to in 2 years. So we are planning a US trip to DW as her request for May 2018. Her other week off is the week of Oct 21st. The past few weeks her health has take a turn for the worse and she is wondering if by May she will not be able to handle Disney. We are talking about swapping weeks with my sister and planning for Oct. Financially it is much more challenging as we are process to move first of next month and do not really have the funds freed up for a trip right after but time with my mom/Grandma is more important we could make it work and would not need to use credit just makes things really tight for a few months which in the end, not having the trip and losing my mom before we can go has no price. My hubby is so into moving details he can not really think about it and it falls on me to make the contingency plans. I am thinking offsite due to needing 8 night of lodging and our plans for May is 2 rooms at Pop since they will have queen beds by then. We are a group of 7, 4 kids able to travel 13,11, 9 and 7.

Just want to add a couple options to your places to stay for this Oct, which would be my choice. Having lived out of the country with aging parents back in the states, I just think you do what you have to in order to spend whatever time you have.

At this point, there may be some DVC places available through renting their points. Here's one site to check: http://www.dvcrequest.com/ If you scroll down, you'll see "Deals" on the left-side menu. That will take you to a place to sign up for his newsletter. I've seen some really good last minute deals. It may not be as good as offsite, but it would put you in the Disney bubble.

There was also this promo a couple weeks ago: https://www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com/bvsuites/bvsuites1.cfm
I don't know if it's ongoing. When I priced out for out late October trip, it was also VERY affordable, and lots of room.
