No, that can't be since in 08 we were busy planning our first ever WDW vacation and hadn't yet considered (or even really heard of) DCL

Maybe I have a doppelganger here somewhere?
(Just using this word since I have only learnt the other day that it is supposedly used in English, is that true? It's always so funny to find a German word in the English language, we have loads and loads of English in our language but it's quite rare to see the other way round)

Hey,

Here is also a thought on face recognition, getting to know one another. Does anyone have facebook? I do & that is how I have connected with some Disers. On my Aug cruise that was how Happy100 & I connected at the Terminal just by knowing our faces ahead of time. We hung the whole time on the cruise, dined together, hubbies snorkeled. It was so much fun & NOW she is also on this cruise!!

yes, it is one of the older shows from 2003, but I still watch it everytime. It is a great show especially if this will be your first time on the magic. We even have it saved on our DVR just in case I need a fix

If its the one Im thinking of, its been updated a few times since it was originally aired. It basically walks you thru from the time that DCL was first conceived, to the announcement of the Dream and Fantasy, and the reasons behind certain things, like why the Magic was built in 2 different yards, but the Wonder in 1 yard, and how CC was bought, rebuilt etc.

It also walks you thru both ships, the restuarants, art styles etc.AND gives you an insight on how one of the rest. has a hidden surprise in it.(Im trying not to spoil it for someone whos never been before and never seen what happenes during dinner, at this 1 rest.)


Im going to tape it since my fiance has to work tonight and wont get a chance to see it.

I try to watch it. I probably already have this one taped somewhere.

The first few times at least I picked up a few things that I wouldnt have noticed otherwise, and went looking for deliberately.Alot of the times, theyll show it or Sam Browns Disney Cruise or any of her crusies(they had a marathon of those not long ago)when Im at work and try and watch those also, but someone inevitably does something stupid that will be a waste of my time and usually miss most if not all of it.Dont get me wrong I love my job,I can do with out the pepole who think an ambulance is a private taxi that get them seen in an er sooner, for a stomach ache theyve had for the last 4 days.There never around when Im bored and looking for something to dnly when I have something to do is when they come out.Go figure.

Regarding the DIS meeting time: I will go along with anything because I'm really looking forward to meeting you guys , but I also think that it might be a tiny bit difficult for us on the first day.
DH and I don't know our way around the ship, we want to get oriented first and isn't there the security drill also, so I'm a bit afraid that we might not make it.
If most of you prefer first day, we shall of course do our best to make it! But yes, another day might be better for us newbies

This past Oct on the Eastern we all met at the Adult Pool right after the Life Boat Drill. It worked out just fine.

Hmm, yes, I think that straight after the lifeboat drill would work for us also because then we wouldn't be in danger of missing the drill anymore, plus we will hopefully (!) have been on the ship for several hours already, so we will have had a chance to get oriented already. (We will be allowed to bring back our life vests to our room first though, won't we? ).

I found out that our lifeboat drill will be in Animators Palate due to our stateroom no., do any of you have their drill there, as well?

Wow, we don't have any of these shows! We can't even watch the free cruise-planning DVD as they only ship that to the US and Canada

It's really a pity that DCL don't gear their marketing a bit more towards European prospective customers as well, but then I guess there must be so few of us that it doesn't make any sense economically for DCL to target us especially

That sounds like a really good plan, so that's most probably what we will do!
(Unless we should take a cab to the terminal even earlier than 10:00? I have read so many different opinions on this, but lots of people say that it is good to arrive even as early as 9:00 or 9:30 and since we will still be jetlagged, we will be up at 6:00 anyway . What do you all think about arriving before 10:00?)
