Their web site says age groups are 3-4 and 5-7 and that they will let a kid jump up in age group if they are 1 month from their birthday.

One of my daughters will turn 6 four days before the cruise and my other daughter won't turn five until 2 months after the cruise. They are both mature and routinely play with children 7 and 8 years old.

I want them to be together in the club. Will Disney make an exception?

Welcome to the DIS!

That is one of the things you won't really find out until you board and ask. Typically they will not make exceptions to go UP in age, but will let older children move down a group. I'm sure the 6-year-old will not want to be with the 3-4s, though, so you can ask that your nearly 5-year-old go with the older kids. They may let you try it on a trial basis.

Enjoy your cruise! :)

Triple JJJ...They let my friend bump up her DD to the 5-7 group. She was 3 months shy of being 5, but she was with my DD who was 6.

But like Michelle said, you won't know till you board.

Hi, just a note,

My family and I just got back from western cruise last week. (May 10th-17th) My nephew is 4 turning 5 in July, my sister in law was able to bump him up to the 5-7 age group because his sister & cousin were in that group. It was on a trial basis of course but everything went great. Just ask, and they should be able to accomodate you... Have a blast!!!! Lisa

Just got off the Wonder and for Tea with Wendy (which was for 3-4YO) a lady brought her 5 kids, 3 of which were over 4. They actually made us wait while they issued all new wrist bands for them. After the tea, i got behind this same lady who made them re-issue new arm bands to put them in their proper age group. I didn't think this was right but other than waiting for 15 minutes each time, it didn't bother me.

I will be on the New Years 2003/2004 cruise. My son will be 15 at the time but my daughter will not be 13 until April. That's 4 months after we cruise. She will want to be in the Teen club with her brother. Sure hope they let her!

nosey: Don't get your hopes up on that one. Last year my dd was 1 month 15 days from her 13th birthday, she looks a lot older too (people would mistake her for a 15 yr. old). They would not even consider it. They said the younger kids were a different situation. The teen program is specifically set aside for actual teens including all the excursions, common grounds and activities. They were real sticklers on that. This year she is just SOOOO excited to finally be a "teen" on the cruise.

edited: Do try, though. I tried really hard last year, to no avail. I'm not trying to discourage you, but just wanted to let you know what our experience was.

Thanks for the info. I will let her know now so she can be over it by December. Do they check their age? I think Common Grounds should start at age 12. 12yr olds are more interested in the stuff that is offered there. Nowadays 12yr olds not only look older by act older also. (girls anyway)

Hearing this info almost makes me want to cancel the trip. Very disappointed. I know my son won't hang in there by himself. He is very shy. Now they will be bothering me all the time.

Do they check their age?
I think so. You need to provide a birth certificate to initially get them on board, so Disney will have their ages and DOB on file. I think when you sign them up for any of the clubs, they check for age. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
