I watched a YouTube video recently where the couple talked about being charged a $60 per child gratuity for the use of the Oceaneer's Club and Lab. They called it a "hidden fee" and claimed that even their TA hadn't heard of such a thing. I have never seen this mentioned in any forum or group. Anyone know any details? Is this a real thing?

There is no gratuity or fee involved with using Oceaneer's Club/Lab.

The Youth Activities CMs cannot accept gratuities.

There is a charge for the wristband for each child (I believe it's around $12.00). That's charged to your onboard account, but the charge is removed if you return the wristband at the end of the cruise.

On the other hand, each person, regardless of age, is charged the $12.00 per day gratuity for the room host/dining team.

Maybe they got a little mixed up? Did they say how many kids they had?

Thanks! I knew about the "deposit" for the wristbands, but the claim about a gratuity showing up on the couple's final bill was something I had not heard of.

Nope. I'm a mom who recently sailed & that statement is false. No gratuities for any kids clubs.

Not a real thing. If it was a 5 day cruise 60 makes since for everyone's gratuity charges but it was not because they used the clubs they would have been charged if they went to the club or not.

I have seen this untruth spread across several other DCL-related social media sources, and it is because people incorrectly identify the $12/night/guest gratuity listed under their child's name on the final bill as being a kids club charge instead of the standard gratuity. People just need to start using common sense, but we know that won't happen.

I know which video you are talking about. Like @scgustafson said they confused the standard gratuity with a kids club charge. Also, it kind of seemed to me like they just weren't happy with the cruise in general.
