We booked an ocean veiw inn room, but MS say they can't guarantee an ocean veiw. I used more points for the ocean veiw, ishouldn't that be guarantee enough ? And if I don't get my veiw, will they credit back my points ?

If you're on a first floor, forget an ocean view. The sea wall is way too high. I'm not even sure about a second floor view in buildings other than the main Inn.

That was one of my real complaints about VB...when walking along the paths, you can hear the ocean, but you can't see it...the flora hides the view.

If the weather is good, have lunch or early dinner on the balcony outside the bar on the second floor. It has a great ocean view and you can do some people watching.

We've stayed in an Ocean View Inn Room about 5 times, now, and we've never not gotten a room that didn't have an excellent view of the ocean.

I'm not sure, but I've never noticed any rooms on the East side of the Inn that were low enough to not have a good view...

Either way - if you haven't already, call MS and ask them to add the preference "upper floor."

Enjoy your trip to Vero - it's a wonderful resort!

We did ask for "upper floor" but we got the " not guaranteed" comment. I would just be very upset if after using the extra points I couldn't see the ocean- and by "see" I don't mean hanging out the balcony,on tip-toes,looking to the left behind the flag pole.

I wonder if they meant the upper floor request was not guaranteed? The Ocean View is the definition of the room and the reason you pay are the extra points. I've always had very nice views when I take one of the Inn rooms. I don't think it'll be a problem.

Seems to me they could get into some sort of legal trouble for calling a room "ocean view", charging a premium for this designation (points or cash) and then not providing what they have charged you extra for!

As for upper floor, of course they will always say that requests can't be guaranteed. Our luck so far with requests has been good...out of 7 requests we've had 6 of our requests filled. This is at a variety of Disney resorts. The only place we didn't get our request was at FW... the tent camping loop we requested was full so they gave us a site on the other loop that was very close to the comfort station and bus stop instead. How could we argue? I think they do try to give you the best they can give you if they can't meet a specific request.

I think you mis-understood MS. Ocean view Inn rooms, by definition have a view of the ocean. I've never seen a report on these boards from anyone that stayed in an ocean view inn room that didn't have an ocean view.

Now, ocean-side is different, and that's what you'll get when booking a studio, 1BR or 2BR unit.

On our first visit to VB we reserved an "Ocean View" Inn room. Unfortunately our room was on the side of the building and had only a partial ocean view from a portion of the balcony. What was most interesting though is that the CMs seemed to be expecting our call after reaching the room, they actually anticipated our complaint. Apparently, the situation was almost a daily problem for the staff as all of the "end" or side rooms on the building are booked as ocean view, but are at best only a partial ocean view. We were able to change rooms to a "direct" ocean view after the first night; which was great! The staff was very helpful and said a solution for this issue was needed. Be sure and ask for a "direct" ocean view.

I did read somewhere in an earlier post, that someone had booked a "garden view" room and got one of the partial view end rooms - if so, then it seems VB has solved the issue. But I'm not sure how the point requirements were rebalanced to address such a change.

regardless we loved VB and will return many times in the future:cool:

It would almost seem that they need three seperate room classifications with point totals accordingly. Whenever I stay at WDW I always take standard view because 1) I want the lower point totals and 2) with so much to do I don't spend enough time in my room to enjoy a special view.

But this Vero trip is an entirely different type of vacation. I go to the ocean to see the ocean. I don't mind paying extra for the view but I do expect to have a great view. I'm probably worrying too much about nothing. I'll probably have a great view but it still bothers me that my confirmation won't guarantee me an ocean view but they sure charged me the extra points.

If you didn't have that seawall and vegitation you would not have a path to walk on at all. I think a lot of people think because it is Florida you are going to be on a Daytona type Beach. This is a very natural and thin beach area.Protected species live in the vegitation. How many people have seen "the rats" running around while taking a stroll.LOL It can freak some folks out.We own all our points there so we are a bit biased.LOL

KNWVIKING I hope you get the view you are looking for. I don't know if they are still doing it this year but take advantage of the meet and greet in the Beach Cottage. Meet some great CMs and people. Grab a cookie and drink.Sit out on the balcony and get spoiled.:) have fun on your trip; We hope it goes well.:)

""If you didn't have that seawall and vegitation you would not have a path to walk on at all. ""

No kidding? I'm sure glad you pointed that out to me!

Despite it's purpose, I still think it's a shame you can't see the sea, SEE!!

I realize this thread is a couple of days old -- but we were at VB in February. When I booked (about 1 month before our arrival) I asked for a 1 bedroom. None of those. So then I asked for an Ocean View Inn Room. All they had was a Garden view. So, because I knew time was wasting, I said okay, but asked for top floor. Noted.

We got there about 1:00 p.m. and the very nice young lady CM said they had a room that was ready, but it was handicap accessible room. Meaning low doorknobs, wider doors, hand grips in shower, and it was on 2nd floor, not top. But it was ready. She said -- it's a really nice room. It's on the end.

So we said yes. Got our stuff and trooped to the end of the hall, opened the door and found the most spacious room with exposure on three sides. Windows galore and a view of the ocean from the balcony. Not full, of course, but none the less I could see the huge waves rushing in and hear them crashing. From the evacuation map on the door of the room I could see that there two of this type on that floor and probably two on the next floor, also.

I'm sorry this is so long, but the room was L-shaped. When you walked in you had a queen size couch/Sleeper and chair and lamp. The microwave/sink was in this area. Large area. You turned the corner and had a bank of windows and the closet and then the vanity and the bathroom and then came to the bed area. There were two queen-sized beds and the table and two chairs were in this area. We moved the table and two chairs into the front part with the couch. It was a fabulous room! For the point count of an inn room studio!

That's all. Ask for an studio inn room, garden view, preferably on an end of the building on the second floor. Wow!

We love VB even though OKW is our home resort. And on this trip we also stayed a few nights at BVW, just to see how it was and had a great time. A 1-bedroom there is just the right size for two, but more than that, especially with kids, would be tight. But it was truly a prime location and we would do it again. Still love OKW for other reasons.
