(Not too sure if this goes here, feel free to move where needed )

I was wanting to know the best beach to go to near Disney ( I know they are already over an hour out...as far as "near" gets). Just thinking of maybe going to the ocean next time we are at Disney. I guess another question would be what mode of transportation would you suggest. Just wanting to hear some planning thoughts for a day at the beach.

The gulf side is prettier than the Atlantic side, bur it's also a little bit further. Clearwater is nice.

Rent a car.

We went to Siesta Key last trip - on the gulf coast. If I recall correctly it took about 2 hours drive. It was a beautiful day and the beach was spectacular. We had a rental car so made the trip easy.

Agree with others. Go to the Gulf side. Much nicer than Atlantic beaches. I would not attempt to go to a beach from Orlando without my own car, so I would suggest renting a car, even if just for the day.

I'm with the others- go with the Gulf! We have visited Clearwater and Siesta Key- both very nice- pleasant day trips!

Since you specifically asked about the ocean, I would suggest renting a car and going to the Cocoa Beach area. Go to Ron Jons, take a surfing lesson, play in the waves, have fun!
