ok so is there a cure for this disease ??? I REALLY need to find something to do with my time besides planning this trip over a year in advance.
we just got back sunday and now that I know we already have a trip planned for Jan 06 I am going nuts..as you can see I already have the clock counting down for this.. :Pinkbounc
we are going on the Magic for the first time and I am preparing a list. Are there "formal" nights that we need extra clothes for? We normally wear nice but casual clothes. Does the Magic have exciting MUST DO things while we are at sea? Will my son (14) be bored?? They have the same Teen Room like the Wonder right?? The Aloft ??
please advise oh and any medical treatment for this will be highly appreciative
as well....

darn that hubby of mine and his reservations for 2006 :earseek:

You're funny! :flower1: Actually, you sound a LOT like me! So are you doing the 7-night cruise? Just asking because the DH and I are taking our first cruise next week, and were thinking of booking the 7-night while we are there, and I was thinking about trying to book it for Jan. 06!
Wish I knew more to tell you about the clothes and things, but like I said, I haven't even been on my first cruise yet!! Good luck and don't go too crazy trying to plan things!

Believe me, you are not alone. I think a majority of the people here are planning way ahead. I booked our cruise 370 in advance. Now, look at my countdown clock. I can't wait. I am here all the time. I am starting a box for the little things that I want to take and don't want to forget!

I am really looking forward to this one because I know it will be my last DC :( . My dh wants to try something different for 1/2 the cost. I know, you get what you pay for. We are taking a CC in October that will be FREE so maybe he will realize the DC are the best.

Keep planning!

I am planning January 2006 too and I am absolutely OCD about it. Just can't seem to help myself! :cool1:

I think once you have the cruising disease it never goes away. We haven't even been on our 2nd cruise & we already have a 3rd booked.
When are you cruising in January 2006? Over on the cruise meets thread you will find other DIS members booked for the same cruise. You will get to know the people who you will be cruising with.
Yes, there is a formal night.
You should buy the passporter guide. It has alot of useful information in it. Keep checking these boards daily for information.

i wake up to the disboards and go to sleep with the disboards- i just love to plan- but i guess i need to get a life :guilty: but i think half the fun is with the planning!!

i haven't been on DCL yet but have cruised before- i do know (due to all my obsessive planning) that there is a formal and semi formal evening- i imagine you won't want to miss all the shows

check out daves wonderful site for navigators http://www.dcltribute.com/

this is also a great site with up to date info http://www.cast awayclub.com/

have a great time planning.....i am :flower1:

I am the same way. I am on here several times a day. One would think I have no life. I have been planning my 2006 since 2004, oh my gosh. I could not wait that long so now I have a one for the end of this month. I am the only one who posts from that group. It is sad.

Now for the formal nights. We dressed up both nights. Next time I do not think the guys will wear tuxs. It was to hot. I think nice, complimentary suits or jacket and slacke will be in order. As for us females, we will dress up. We like it. We go to Hecht's and Dillards around September and cash in on the sales. $200 & $400 gown for pennies. My DGD's also love to dress up as well.

Maybe we should start a OCD planning thread so we can discuss what we found out that day and can commiserate with each other.

a cure??????? bite thy tongue!! :) no known cure, and I don't want it even if they discover one. I love planning too much (hence the reason I'm taking classes to become a travel consultant).

thanks all for your support.. hehe  I am so thankful I am NOT alone in this cruise madness....

yes, we are going on the Magic for a 7 Night Western Caribbean..

wow!!! I WISH my hubby would go on a cruise with another cruise line. HE is that ine that INSISTS that we ONLY cruise Disney... although for our honeymoon we did go on NCL to Tahetti and Hawaii for 2 weeks...

I too am at these boards day in and day out. I just started using the Cruise Boards right before our New Years trip. I am usually on the Cast member Boards and sometimes I visit the general discussion boards.. Usually It feels like we are one big family here, it's so nice, :grouphug:

Thanks Again All
and Have a wonderful day/night

We will leave NJ on the 27th, 06 that is, spend the day and half of the next in Disney (like always) and then the cruise leaves on the 28th (DH Bday) then we will celebrate my Bday 2-1 and arrive back on 2-3 and spend that day and most of the 4th in Disney again like always) :cool1:

OK another question, should I bring my own Bday decoration or pay the extra $$ to have the room decorated for Hubby before we get there?? Maybe I can send a "hint" to my TA and she'll pay for the decoration..Hehehe..see still planning ahead.. DH will be 35 this year and I have a surprise party planned for him. His Mom, Sister and Niece (2) will be flying in on the 27th from Colorado. He's going to kill me this year but I don't care I love surprising him because it isn't an easy thing to do. DH is sooo nosey...Hahaha..gotta love him.. Any excursions we NEED to do while on the Magic??? :badpc: darn this disease!!

We live in Ocean County NJ (at the shore)

oh yea by the way (biting my tongue) :earboy2: ok so it is the closest I can get to biting my tongue..

Tell me about it. I'm thinking I'm nuts. We just cruised for the first time Dec 2004 on the Wonder. Yesterday I booked my DVC (or land portion ;)) for Dec 2005 stay before our next Dec 2005 Wonder cruise bringing more family and now I've requested a quote for the 7 day Western for Dec 2006. DH said "I think the 7 day would be great if it had 2 castaway cay days" So...specialty itinerary here we come. If some one had told me that I would react this way to cruising I would have said No Way.

You are planning and I'm having Magic withdrawls....
I think on the 7-day (I was on the 10) there is one formal and one semi-formal night. My DSs (almost 14) wore a nice dress shirt and tie with black dockers for all 'formal' occasions and they looked as nice or nicer than most their age (not to say that there weren't some dapper fellas in tuxes). There were SOOOOoooo many things to do while at sea you'll never get to them all.

As for the teen club, it was the one disappointment for our boys. In the lab (8-12yo club) they had about 16 computers and a few play station games. In the Stack (the teen club) there were 2 computers and an occasional play station. Also, it's a tough age to mix 13 yo 8th graders with 17 yo high school kids. Both boys were very disappointed in the club and spent little to no time there. They did however blow big bucks in the arcade. I don't know how your son is, but mine are definately more into electronic games than girls so sitting around with loud music and no games to play was a real drag for them. To answer your question, my sons were bored out of their goards in the Stack and uncomfortable to boot.

With this aside, our trip was beyond all of our wildest dreams for wonderful. We had plenty of fun as a family and the boys enjoyed the movies and shows with their parents and room service and late night movies in the stateroom when DH and I were enjoying the adult entertainment in the Rockin' bar D!

If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

I just talked to my best man on the phone last night and he, again, called me a "freak".

Yup. :earboy2:

Our son spent most of his time in the Aloft on the Wonder. He came to the room 2 nights in a row at 2 am. Butttt I figured this was his vacation too and how much trouble could he get in with the counslers right there with him. They played a really cool game that I WISH I could of played, called Gotcha. It is just like Man Hunt, you go around and try to poison, stab or kill your enemey then once they are dead you take their victim and try to get that one and so on and so on. Too bad my son never found out the final results of the game. At one point he was the only one with points. :cheer2: But he wasn't feeling too well after dinner on our last night and fell asleep early. Maybe it was the 2 days prior coming in at 2 am...just my opinion..hahaha

sorry your boys were bummed..this was the first time our son had actually went and done something without us..my baby is growing up.. :guilty:

thanks again for the post and info

We are all in the same boat. (pun intended.) That's probably how the DISBoards got started!!!! Our cruise meet board has about 700 posts already... we are on it constantly, with over 500 days to go. And in terms of booking so far ahead- I booked in Nov 04 for May 06... Looked at the pricing yesterday, and it has gone up $1740 since I booked for the same Cat. ... thats more than 1/2 my cruise price for 4!!!! (Granted, we are in 'steerage' in a Cat 9.)

My DH thinks I am crazy- but he does love to cruise... he just can't get excited about it til a week or two before.

I currently have three cruises booked during the next 13 months, although one is, pardon the expression, not DCL. Pathological enough? Actually woke DW up last night to have her sign the cruise contract portion of her doc's for the 1/16 Wonder...as if today, 11 days in advance, would not be soon enough. I booked 4/2/05 Magic in 10/03. And I am trolling to find something I can book while on-board the Wonder because I don't want to "waste" my access to the $200 shipboard credit for booking on-board by not booking anything.

I think Pfishgirl that someone should arrange for the Disney in-room birthday celebration, either you or TA paying, but it is so nice o have that done for you. I went with the bon voyage champagne, strawberries and petit fours package when we cruised for DW's birthday. The cake is complimentary in the dining room, just speak with your server or the head server--it is nice to arrange it for formal night if you will be there so you can be dressed up for a table shot. And order something else for dessert--the cake was not as good as what we get at Publix, but it was fun and the decorated white chocolate topper was a treat.

My family and friends all think I am insane with planning but they are all glad when they benefit from my OCD approach to planning.

Last year we went on a 4 day wonder I knew just about everything a person could know before the the trip.

We head to disney on Feb. 8 2005 for a 5 day stay and of course I have been on the dis for that trip constantly. I thought the coming of that trip that would bring an end to my compulsion for awhile but this week my MOm called and said they plan to take the entire family next year on a cruise and start checking for prices and dates.

Well, to say the least I have already spent to much time on these boards but I got a great date and price for the trip. I think we will book it on Friday.

Does anyone know how to stop the compulsion to check the dis daily?

If only I could cut it down to a daily habit, as opposed to an hourly one!
