Observations from Trip 11/11 to 11/19

My kids are grown, but I think it's fine for a 7 year old to be in a stroller. WDW is huge, and that's a lot of walking for short little legs.

When we went to the world back when my kids were that age, we brought a stroller for DD3. DS6 enjoyed "sharing" for bits here and there, mostly for the seat when he just wanted to rest a bit. DS8 wanted to sit every now and then, but he was much too big. The only time he really could have used it was when we stayed out until midnight on NYE...That LONG trek home was a nightmare, and he wished he had a ride. I think if you slow your pace, rest when the kids need it, and don't push it too late at night, you will do fine without one. 4-6, maybe an umbrella stroller for breaks...they pretty much want to walk for much of the day.

Adding some comments/questions in the quote

Very magical for daughter (4) first trip to Disney World.

4) JTA training allowed before PPO breakfast. Free use fast pass also provided. Signing up for JTA meant we were not done with breakfast at rope drop.

So is this eligible for everyone who has a breakfast reservation? You can sign up before, and then get a free FP+? Great deal, but I'm curious why they give you the FP+?

5) Renting stroller very much recommended. Daughter has not used stroller in over a year, but could not have survived walking. Rented stroller from outside vendor allowed the use all the way back to room + significantly more comfortable. Only time picked up daughter was to see something.

Who did you rent from? Do you mind me asking what the daily cost was?

12) 6:30AM was our conservative leave room in time for PPO breakfast. Most busses started rolling 6:45 to 7:00. For Animal Kingdom we were 21st in line. For Magic Kingdom we were around 30th in line. For Hollywood Studios, we were 5th in line and first in park. Could have probably left a few minutes later, but I like the 6:30 target to start walk. Boards at bus stop that told time of bus to arrival were awesome.

This makes me feel a bit better about staying off site (not that I minded it anyways). We normally ate breakfast in our jammies around 7:15, rolled out of the house at 7:45 and were in line for RD at 8:15. A couple days we didn't leave till 8:00 and were still in line for RD at 8:30. Certainly not #21 in line those days, but still had no complaints at all about crowds. I couldn't imagine having to be up and out the door at 6:30 for breakfast!

13) Not one alligator sighting. Daughter liked playing in sand on beach. Not very crowded and peaceful. Weather largely perfect last week. No rain, 70s in day. A little chilly in evening needed coat.

So any of the resorts with beaches, are still allowing you to play on them etc? Good to know. We were hoping to visit Ft. Wilderness next time to watch the water parade and Wishes from their beach. So this will still be allowed?

14) Did not get wet on Pirates. Minimal signs of water in boat.

Also good to know. Kids really want to do this one next time!

Great report! What time was your PPO breakfast that you were let in at 8:00? We have an 8:05 reservation at H&V, and I am wondering if we need to adjust that so that we can sign up for JTA and still make breakfast.

She is. :D My kiddos still needed a stroller at Disney when they were 7. Hadn't been in one in years, but at Disney it's different. It's Disney World, not the real world. :P

I'm so glad to see this - I've been debating a stroller for our Feb trip and we have 7/8 year olds. The 8 year old would be fine, but the 7 year old is just sooooo slow. And I anticipate that we'll be shedding layers throughout the say in Feb as well.

Our son used a stroller some when he was 8. It was just so much walking and he would get tired. In all honesty, I imagine we'll still get a double stroller for the kids at ages 7 & 10, as both kids have since been diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and suffer from joint pain/easy fatigue etc... Our 10 year old probably would be able to do it without as long as he's wearing his ankle braces and we stop lots for him to sit down, but having a double stroller would allow us to just keep trucking when he needs a rest.

NIce report!
I'm curious- what do you mean about JTA that you got a free fast pass? Is this new?

We also received a free Paper FP (good for 5 people, we were a party of four) after signing up for JTA on 11/11. It was good until the end of November. We used it on 11/14.
