Observation (maybe someone can fill me in)

If you have gone to the grocery store anytime in the last year, you know that the prices have skyrocketed. Along with that the sizes of products have gotten smaller. A tub of Country Crock butter is no longer 1lb. It's 14oz. Also there was a time, not so long ago, that gas prices were $4. We have to take into account that Disney must pass that cost along to us the consumers. There are any number of ways in which they must do this. One is to cut the quality of food, and 2 is to raise the cost of meals. Many of our local restaurants have had to make that choice as well. Our local Chinese food restaurant posted a note saying that due to their costs increasing they had to make a choice between lowering quality or raising their prices. They chose to raise prices and keep quality the same. Disney may have run into a situation where they HAD to do both. I find it very difficult to draw a direct line from the DDP to cost increases/quality issues. I find it much more feasible that this is an economy issue that we are all facing.

As for the DDP, I actually never gave it much thought. But then a couple of weeks ago sat down and compared the cost of the plan vs. what I was planning to spend OOP. Well low and behold it would actually save us money. Would anyone actually purchase the plan if they thought it would cost them more to be on it? Maybe there are a few that would, but most would not. I think it's a personal decision based on what works best for you and your family.

As for why people get angry over it???? I'm not really sure. I would say there are so many other things in life to be frustrated over, DDP would not rank high on my list. But to each his/her own.
