Hi,
Well this is crazy. I have a son who cried himself to sleep tonight over a silly game. He tried to win inferno with 3 characters and needless to say he did not win. He has been living on VMK since it is vacation week but now I think I did the wrong thing letting him play so much. He leaves the game just to eat or to come tell me something about the game.
This is just too sad. :sad2: :sad1: I felt bad for him and tried to remind him that it is ONLY a game. It might be time to limit his VMK time. I hate to as he loves it so much but it is not worth the heartbreak. Walt would not like having dissapointed kids-not just mine but a lot out there who play.
Please don't flame me I just had to vent.
Thanks,
Cheryl

 If it makes your DS feel any better, tell him that I don't have inferno either, and I've been on since Day 1 beta! :confused3

Tell him that bat magic is definitely cooler than inferno! Was he able to buy bat magic??

Yeah. Let him know that there are so many of us that do not have Inferno. And have never had it. I'd love to have it too. But it is just a game. Not life and death. And it would be prudent to get that point across to him. :)

But he is in a whole lot of good company. :thumbsup2

I know what you mean, I used to live and breathe off VMK the last of my summer vacation, winter break, and every moment of free time I had. I would snap at anyone who would try to talk or interupt my concentration. Almost like gollum from LOTR, LOL. My fiance recorded my actions on my video phone and when I looked it over I could not believe what I was seeing. VMK has something about it that is just litterally addicting. Limiting VMK time is a very good thing but you will also want to keep him busy so the feeling of being pulled to VMK wont be as strong. Wow it makes it sound and feel like a drug.

Walt would like our kids sitting in front of computers all day and putting that much emphasis on a silly game even LESS!

I don't have inferno. I could care less whether or not I ever get inferno. It's just not that important. It's been your son's vacation week? School should take care of a lot of that "formerly free" time when it gets back in session. But perhaps putting a leash on VMK for him isn't a bad thing. He's young. If he has the time, he needs to concentrate on school, and bettering himself (whether it be sports, or languages, or just exploring what a wonderful place our world is...something Walt would DEFINITELY love to see...).

Just my $0.0654 (2 cents with interest)

my 10 yr. old is the same
she has the same obseesion that i do, but i don't trade with anyone who is not a long time friend like"BoatGuy" or mrs. "Awesomekeelboat" or DIS member. Inferno was not her thing but, teleportation was. Thanks to other Member, that is over. I have used VMK as an incentive for grades and chores, which works out great, she seems to get a lot done when VMK is up on block. :confused3 :confused3 But it does the trick. She now knows that in order to get what she wants, she has to work, on and off VMK, for credits. Good luck. :) :)

to relate this quote with vmk, I had put together a game plan. I forced myself to save anything and everything that was rare and awesome. Things like cowboy hats, sorcerer hats, rocket couches, retired pins and magic pins. Eventually, the hard work and pack rat'n paid off as it scored the insane pin. I recomend this method way more than generator staff games as it's gambling to me, and I don't care for that. I believe in earning and working for what you want rather than depending on a lottery-like hand out and that, well, that can become obsessive. I'm now forcing myself to sit on 20+ everest costumes because a couple months from now, they'll score another.

Sorry if this comes off as flaming, I'm not. Plus I don't have kids so I couldn't imagine the feeling of listening to my child weap over a silly game.

I'm not a kid, but you should have seen me during the Halloween event
weekend! Let me tell you, a silly little game was making a grown woman
cry tears of frustration.

And that's when I realized that I shouldn't take the game that seriously.
Sure, I vent and rant when things are frustrating, but after I vent, (and
I tend to vent a lot LOL), I've gotten over it....usually.

I've been trying since day 1 (beta) to get inferno, and I didn't win it
until February 10. Many friends don't have it yet either, so now I try
to win it again the same way I won mine.

Didn't work tonight, but I'll keep trying. :)

I really, really believe that when something that's supposed to be purely for fun isn't fun anymore, you should at least take a break for a while.

Lol, maybe I'm a bit wiped out from the saving and then spending frenzy for the ride competition and Bat Magic and then that extra long weekend of doing nothing but sitting in base camp ... but when you're forced to play for hours (and not really having fun so much as playing with the mentality of "I must play to get credits!") and probably neglecting rl things, it's a good wake up call to spend less time and to invest less emotion in what, in the end, is just a game. After all ... how many of us will still be playing this a year or two from now? :)

me and vmk in one word before i got help(LOL!) ADDICTION and i'm only 13 lol

me and people after school rofl so funny(hope it cheers you up)
People: I'm bored, let's do something
Me: I'm gonna do some vmk after school u wanna come? :rotfl2:

I dont have inferno, or even most of the beta things people have! But, it is just a game! I mean, its ok to play the game 1 hr a day ( I'm only allowed 30 mins.) but dont over exceed that. If its a host thing then I understand.
Like one of the dis said, it really does sound like a drug; which is pretty sad. :guilty:

Am I the only one who really doesnt care about Inferno??

I also think Bat Magic is way cooler...

((((((Hugs))))))) To your son.... it is hard to not win something you really want.... over and over again, but at least you had 3 chances, which is more than a lot of people who get DC'd right before their turn... (that is me, more often than not)

Right now I am back in earning mode... taking advantage of the higher credits now, in case the take them away, and I have a feeling some other cool things will be buyable soon....

well I am a slow learner. Most of Dis had there rants over halloween. Well since I am not into halloween it took me until the Everset Competition to have my ranting time. Now I just take a step back and go oh well they live in a computer world that seems to run on a different realm all together. And no matter what I think I can not figure them out.

My friend Tink traded her everest chair she won to get me the white snowman I always wanted and she was so excited. She traded with her son which was not an easy thing.

I sadly told her to trade back because this rare chair as of Saturday will be the easiest thing to get. Fortunately it was her son and he could get it back. But if it was someone other kid they would be crying today.

So I recommend One good disappointment to get over any VMK addiction. Sure cleared mine.

I am so sorry he does not have an inferno neither do i but I heart bat magic.

I don't care about Inferno either, and I agree that Bat Magic rocks! I care more about the new friends that I have made and the fun we all have together sinking ships, vacuuming up ghosts, bursting fireworks, and hanging out in each other's rooms. That's what makes VMK great - the cool people. :)

Im 10 i have a big obsession i would play all the way from when it opens to when it closes almost i dont care for inferno that much i dont care for magic it just makes you lose dc

At the moment I have a stitch package obsession. I was GOING to get it, then they screwed up our vacation package. We originally booked online, but since we called so much to ask about the stitch package and add on concierge, they transfered our vacation files to phone so we no longer "qualify" for the stitch package. I was so crushed I actually cried over 3 paper cards. Which errupted to a HUGE fight with my .. boyfriend since we called off the wedding for a long time due to other things. VMK does very strange things to you..

I agree! This "virtual game" can actually bring grown women to tears over the frustration of trying to win inferno!

I feel for your son. My son tried twice to win inferno last night - once he disconnected when he was about to go into the next round, and the other time he made it in, but then our computer decided to act up and he couldn't click to make his character run to the chair. He didn't cry actual tears, but he went to bed very very close to tears. Made me wish I never told him about Fin's Make A Deal Game last night...

VMK is very addicting, but it is also a VERY frustrating game for both adults and kids...

This game is EXTREMELY addicting. At first I didn't get it so I didn't get on until around Thanksgiving a month later and now I'm on it every spare moment I have. I know exactly what your son is going through. I play all the staff games and get angry when I lose and then I get BACK in line and play again hoping to win which I never do. 7 times in one night on two different people I tried to win inferno, but no such luck. It's really a bummer, at least you can limit his play time, I however have no self control. I sometimes wish my laptop would just breakdown but then I wouldn't be able to get all my schoolwork done so this is really just a Catch 22. Major Bummer!

I Did that and VMK Has been more fun since!! But I think another break is coming up I have some time and am going to dig into Kingdom Hearts1! But it has less to do with how much the person plays it has more to do with how they percieve the game. If you are that nuts about getting Inferno, you don't get VMK!!!! I think he should definitely take a Loooooooong break, and then come back.
