Obesity at WDW

The only rides that were uncomfortable for my DH who is 6'4" and 280 was Splash Mountain. There just wasn't enough room for his long legs and wide chest. :earsboy: So next time, we will each have a row by ourselves insead of both him and I in one. That way he can stretch his legs out to the sides and not bang his knees.

All the other rides were very comfortable and seat belts fit just fine.

Go and have a great time. Don't worry about what people think. Life is too short and you will never see these people again. Remember you are at Disney. The happiest place on earth.

If you have any other questions. Please feel free to ask. :sunny:

how overweight?

I am very overweight and I can ride anything at WDW.

My brother, who is a lot bigger than I am - can't ride Big Thunder Mountain.

the seats are small and not alot of room.

Now I hadn't try the rides in Mickey's Toontown

I am 5'6" and around 250, DH is 5'11" and around 400, and we have had very few problems. Some things are a tight squeeze but doable. And the CM's are usually very understanding and will direct you to seats/rows that are more comfortable or have more leg room.

I am about 190 and have no problem with the rides I do however have a problem with all the walking and shorts...my thighs get a terrible rash. I am going to try the new creme that I purchased that is supposed to help chafing. I know this has nothing to do with the rides but it is a problem I have found because of my size. Anyone have any great suggestions???? I know, I know don't wear shorts is the suggestion I am going to hear....but I dont like the heat so pants are uncomfortable.

I think it depends on where your weight is. DH is not so much overweight as Shrek-like. His wedding ring was a size 16 :earseek: ! He is 6'3" and weighs 330lbs. He HATED Primeval Whirl in AK because he has very BIG ribs and he swore one was broken(it wasn't really he's just dramatic ;) ) this ride has a bar that comes down and for rides like that he'd scoot forward a little on the seat until the bar was secure then he could move back and still have a little space between him and the bar and for rides with belts he found that if you took the belt as soon as you sat down and pulled it to the maximum extension, they all fit him pretty well. I have a...lets say Poohsized bottom(You try dieting and being the caregiver to 1 child and 2 adults. The Oreo's speak to me from the cookie jar and it ain't pretty how they entice me. :earboy2: ) and Astro Orbiter nearly took off half of each of my hips . Most of the rest of the rides are pretty overweight friendly I think. Deb Wills site that was mentioned above is awesome and full of suggestions about the rides. Have a great time :flower:

Thank you to all... I have read Deb's site (AWESOME!) My mother and father in law are both extremely tall and overweight (6'0 and 6'3'' 350 lbs. +) so that's why I was asking. MIL saw some complaints on Deb's site and it worried her... someone on there said they had rides started without their restraints buckled. Anyway, my plan is to help them into any rides they need assistance with and not get on until they're ready to go. Hopefully the CMs will be understanding about this. DH and I are both shrimps and have never paid attention to issues like this on past Disney trips, and I want MIL and FIL to enjoy their very first trip outside of our home state!

I was concerned about my size (22/24) and not fitting on some of the rides, so before I booked our WDW trip I contacted Disney by e-mail and they sent me a breakdown of which rides are tight-fitting and might be a tight squeeze and which ones have more room. If you'd like I can dig out that info and either post it here or PM it to you. Just let me know. :wave2:

I fit OK into the rides, but have experienced the rubbing thigh problem walking at Disney. I found vaseline works OK in a pinch.

You already got some really good info. If you do a search for "Pooh-sized", you will find a lot of other threads.

Disney Tips board have used a product known as "Body Glide"...no idea what it is, or how it works...but they've positively raved about it for chafing and heat rash problems...worth a google, maybe:)

Can you post that please Thumper? I'd appreciate it.

Well, Colleen, I would love to be able to post this info for you, but it seems to have vanished from my e-mail inbox. :confused3 I've been searching for it, but I think maybe I had it sitting in there for so long that it was just automatically deleted. :confused3 I'm so sorry I told you I could post it for you and now I can't. I feel bad! :guilty: :guilty: :guilty:

I originally got the info by e-mailing Disney (from the WDW website) telling them what my problem was and asking them to tell me what rides I might not be able to go on because of my size because I don't want to be embarassed once I get to WDW (never been there before, so I don't know what to expect). They were very polite about it and sent me a list of the different rides and which were tight fitting and which had more room. I don't remember specifically too many of them, except a couple that I really want to ride that were shown as being tight-fitting: the Aerosmith roller coaster and Space Mountain. Other than that I don't remember thinking that any of the rides were going to be a problem for me, so I guess it depends on size and how comfortable someone is wedging themselves into a small space. Since I can't access that info any longer (stupid e-mail! :badpc: ) I'd suggest you do what I did and send an e-mail to Disney so they can send you the same info they sent me, assuming you have enough time before your trip for them to send it. They're receiving so many e-mails right now because of the anniversary celebration that it took more than a week for them to respond to my e-mail.

Again, sorry I couldn't help you out after all. I feel really bad!!!   Hope you're able to get the necessary info anyway! Good luck! :earsboy:

BodyGlide is great stuff! I tried it for the first time on a trip a few weeks ago to prevent blisters, but I've read postings where people have used it to prevent chafiing. I applied it to all of the surfaces of my toes to prevent blisters and wow! for the first time ever my toes still felt great at the end of the day. Here is their website: http://www.bodyglide.com/

It's popular with runners and hikers so you might find it in a store that sells running gear or hiking gear. I found it at Eastern Mountain Sports, for example. The website lists places where it is sold, but as the previous poster mentioned, just google "bodyglide" (all one word) and you'll probably find many places that sell it online.

Yes, Yes, Yes - ::yes::

Bodyglide is fantastic. I purchased 2 bottles of it before our trip to WDW last fall. It comes in a roll-on, and a small bottle. It feels like you are putting "nothing on" but it sure does work superbly. We both used it around our heels and across our toes. I also purchased their powder, which you put in your socks/shoes. It keeps your feet dry and puts a silicone like layer between the skin and shoe. Sure did make our feet feel great. :bounce:

The Bodyglide is being used currently by both my husband and myself in any areas you may have rubbing or irritation. DH uses it around his belt line. He is very active at work and wears numerous items on his belt. He would get these sores around his middle similar to a cyst. They were very painful and would open up and bleed. This product worked wonders. The sores are gone for good! It is also good during the summer if you have to wear pantyhose and they stick to certain areas. :scared1: You put the bodyglide on and no more uncomfortable places. I would not leave home with out it!

:wave2:

Angel16, I've never seen the Bodyglide roll-on or powder. The stuff I bought comes in a gray plastic container that looks like a solid stick deodorant, just like the picture on their web site: http://www.bodyglide.com. Blistershield comes in a roll-on and a powder, so I was wondering if that is what you got?
The BlisterShield web site is: http://www.2toms.com/products.html.

It's also nice to wear a dress to WDW and have bike shorts underneath (for many reasons) to prevent chafing.

DS9 sometimes get chafing if his swimshorts are long and chafe after a day at the water parks (and he is thin and narrow). It's the wetness that makes a rash or chafing effect. Try Lotrimin, it works on blisters, atheletes feet, jock, ******l, diaper and yeast rashes/infections. My son calls it "miracle cream." ;)

I have and NO problems at all....well with fitting. I HATE that darn Barnstormer coaster, freaky little thing!

Im a full size 22/24 and havent had any problems. I saw someone else my size mention Rock N Roller Coaster...I had no problems there. My only problem is shared seating, Im always afraid the belt wont be tight enough on DS when we share a seat. However, I did go on Goofy's Barnstormer with him and we were fine....of course the death grip I had on the kid might have had a little to do with that :rotfl: For other shared rides he usually shares with DH and I take a seat alone.
