Obama's Blackberry

Well the military has a ban on all portable usb type devices from being connected to the network currently because of their lack of security & not encrypted. I don't know if this is a government wide ban.

The Department of Defense just issued a ban on all thumbdrives and portable storage devices two weeks ago. Apparently, there was a security breach somewhere in the DoD and the suspicion is that some sort of Trojan viruses were introduced into the network and they are possibly compromising defense information.

We all went through a fairly major "stoppage" last week and had all our thumbdrives taken.

Can you imagine if he had something really important on there & lost it.

I wonder if that's true for all communication. A friend of mine is a Colonel at the Pentagon and he emails me almost daily from his blackberry. Maybe his is okay because it's marked unclassified? I can't imagine the army cares much about his problems with his truck or how there isn't any decent BBQ in Northern Virgina.:goodvibes

Sorry, not really relevant to the converation, just wondering.

With the current ban on thumbdrives, Blackberries were still allowed. They gave an explanation as to why those were safe but I can't remember it. I guess they don't "plug in" and can't insert anything into the DoD network.

There are plenty of industries that must archive and monitor e-mail and there is no shortage of software apps that do just that. I am sure they will find a way to allow his blackberry----that issue alone would keep me from being POTUS. I cannot live with out my crackberry.

DoE has never allowed thumbdrives and portable storage devices etc. You'd been gone quicker than you could blink! I am surprised DoD ever allowed them. I know one thing, they have to be on top of everything all the time!
