There is another thread concerning Obamacare that has a lot of negative.
It's hard to tell how much success people are having.

Anyone got anything positive to say about a successful enrollment and money saving?

Yes, because its been a whopping 60 hours since implementation -- we should be able to determine the success or failure of this legislation by now.

My friend, a breast cancer survivor, is thrilled to be able to enroll for healthcare with a pre-existing condition. She is getting her insurance through Medical Mutual. She talked with them the other day and they told her everything is still okay for her to be insured on January 1st.

I think OP was referring to previously uninsured people getting coverage. Or, people paying higher premiums saving money.

I think, based on her previous posts on another thread about the topic, she's getting ready to dance on the ACA's grave. I could be wrong... She may really be hoping to hear some success stories and that this was good legislation after all.

I've avoided the eleventy billion page thread so I don't know anyone's motives. I'm pro-Universal Healthcare so I'm really looking forward to hearing about families who have been helped. :)

<-- dirty hippie. ;)

I own my own business and I am paying $1,350 more after raising my deductible and my wife has worse insurance at $1,200 more a year through the state all because of the switch. Sorry, worse insurance and $2,550 more a year for my family.

I'm just thankful I am in great shape and never go to the doctor. I guess that's why mine cost more? The good news the insurance stock in my portfolio tripled!

Two of the clients at my church's work program were able to get insurance for their family.
They were previously uninsured. both are single mom's working full time (well full time hours but technically part time) in Retail with no benefits.

I did not ask what the price was. They were happy about it last night.

I volunteer again tomorrow so I'll report back. In Camden there are quite a few places where families and individuals are going to get one on one help with the process.

I'm a smart cookie, I know better than to try and log onto a brand new site 2 hours after it opens. I'm going to wait a few weeks and then compare it to what I have now.

I bet there will be alot of success stories like that. I'm glad your friend and millions more with pre-existing conditions will be able to get the coverage they need.

Thanks! My friend is getting a divorce and one sticking point was her ability to get health insurance on her own which was impossible before this new law. :thumbsup2

I don't think this is the place to ask that question simply because of DIS demographics, but anyway...

I'm not in such a rush that I'm going to fight the overloaded website to get a quote ASAP, but one friend and one relative have already posted on FB that they found plans that fit their needs. One was uninsured because of medical history, the other because of affordability.

In bold is true. Many on here will not qualify for the exchange. I know I don't get insurance as a household but, the exchange makes you use household income and I am not able to qualify. I have an HSA and it's still high.

Yes, you are correct

Nope, wrong chobie.
I would like to think that something good can come from all of this and wanted to hear success stories.

I know this is way off topic........ but what is the "DIS demographic"? :confused3

over the 400% of poverty level mostly.:thumbsup2

Even thou I have been nasty on the other thread I too would love to hear how ACA is helping people.

Op thank you for starting this thread hopefully we can keep it all positive :thumbsup2

Well off enough to afford Disney - not generally those living in poverty or the working poor, and a disproportionately small share of the lower middle class. As a whole, the DIS is populated by a higher-than-average number of people who are likely to have insurance through employers and/or earn too much to be helped by the ACA subsidies.

It wasn't a value judgement, just a statement of fact. Taken collectively, DIS posters are a more educated and higher income group than the American population on whole. And access to employer based care is closely related to both education and income.

+1

With all the doom and gloom on tv night after night over this, I'm happy to read folks who are being helped.

My husband and I both have pre-existing conditions and I'll be changing jobs soon, so I'm VERY grateful for that. Also, we have two kids, recent college grads, who are still covered on my plan, thank goodness! I think this is the best thing to happen to the American people in years! :thumbsup2
