Oatmeal at McD's

Are you talking about the kind with the fruit in it? I have not tried it yet, but it looks good.

Yeah! It does look good, but it shouldn't be, KWIM? I'm so curious - I might have to just get some this weekend to try.

Yes I've tried it; if you're used to having oatmeal with raisins, the apples are bizarre, but overall it wasn't bad.

I agree that it looked really good on TV and said so to DH.

However, just remember the Big Mac or quarter pounder you order never seems to look like the one you might see in an ad. The one we get usually looks like someone either sat on it or stepped on it before we got it :lmao:! So I'm not holding out too much hope for the oatmeal.

I haven't had it, but 2 of the girls here at work have and neither of them liked it.

The commercials around here show oatmeal with fruit sitting on top that you can either stir into the mixture or leave on top and scoop up what you want with each bite.

Both the girls I work with got theirs and the fruit was all mixed in. Neither liked that because they wanted to pick out the cranberries for the cranberryraisin mixture. They both like raisins and apples, but because the 3rd fruit was still in there, they didn't enjoy the oatmeal.

One of them had the cream on it, the other one didn't. Neither ordered it differently and neither were asked if they wanted it or not. The only way they knew of the difference was when they were campairing notes on their thoughts.

The other thing the one mentioned, for having brown sugar in it, it wasn't very sweet. Said it was very bland tasting.

I haven't tried it because I'm trying to watch my calories and I read that it was very sweeetened and was 280 calories for the small cup.

I also heard that it isn't as good as the Starbucks version, which I haven't tried either.

DH tried it and liked it. I plan to try it this weekend.

I haven't tried it because I figure if anyone is gonna screw up oatmeal, it'll be McD's!

I like Starbuck's, but you can choose what to add to it.

:lmao: I was wanting to try the oatmeal, it looks soo good on tv, but now that you mention that....well thats true!!! :scared1:

I just had it for breakfast this morning and it was ok. I asked the girl if the fruit was separate or in the oatmeal and she told me it was a little bowl on top of the big bowl of oatmeal that I add myself. I also said "no cream".

Get to work and pull it out and it is one small bowl with the fruit mixed in and cream in it also!:headache:

I was not happy, but too late to turn around. I had to pick out all the raisins (blah) and drain the extra "cream" off of it that was floating on the top. After that I had to add my own brown sugar and about 2 packets of Splenda.

Next time I will just make my own!

We really like it!!!! While we were traveling for the holidays, we would get it for breakfast. The kids really enjoyed it, too!

I have had it twice and enjoyed it both times. I had it in the afternoon as a snack. Both times mine came with the fruit sitting on top, but no cream.

I tried it yesterday and liked it. Mine had the apples and raisins on top, no craisins (a selling point for me) and no cream. Still, I liked it a lot and will get it again.

It wasn't very sweet, but that's okay, I preferred to get the sweetness from the fruit.

I don't understand why anyone would buy oatmeal an McD's when it is actually one of the easiest breakfasts to make at home. Even if you are pressed for time, I believe that it would be quicker to throw a bowl of quick oats in the microwave then go to McD's. Also at home you can add whatever you want to it.

I'm definitely going to try this tomorrow morning and report back. I've been trying to stay away from drive-thru breakfasts...but the temptation is too much. I love oatmeal...I guess I just need to try it to confirm that yes, I make it better (and cheaper) at home. ;)
