Oasis of the Seas?

RCCL is a class act IMHO. :thumbsup2

We are not booked on Oasis as we like to "see" more (ports) while cruising and the itineraries on these larger ships are more limited.
The goal for the "larger ships" is to keep you ON the ship.....gambling, shopping SPENDING so they provide more sea days and less port days....and being in "Central Park" does not do much for a NY'er :lmao:
Seriously though, we may "try" it down the road...:confused3
WE liked the "Mariner" which we thought was the perfect size with all the "fun" too (inline skating, ice skating, rock climbing, mini golf, theater, Johnny Rockets, Royal Promenade (LOVED the parade and shops and bars and bistro's) etc etc...its our in Ca having moved from Fla.....maybe jump back on that ?????

Central Park is only one of 5 "neighborhoods" on the ship. But it is also where the Rising Tide bar is – the first levitating bar at sea! Different decks have different neighborhoods.

Here is the website: http://www.oasisoftheseas.com/
If you click on e-brochures, there is fantastic info there.

"CENTRAL PARK
Introducing the first neighborhood concept – Central Park is a revolutionary public space combining nature with nautical. Elegant and lively, Central Park’s piazza is the ship’s town square, which evolves from a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere during the day to a gathering space for dining, entertainment, and street performances in the evening. Central Park features several alfresco dining options and more than 300 staterooms, which rise six decks to overlook the Park. Quiet reading corners, specimen gardens and other hidden surprises await guests among the winding paths. Bringing the outdoors in, Central Park offers guests a tranquil outdoor space open to the sky, like never seen before.

At the center of the ship, the innovative design of Central Park opens to the sky and features lush tropical grounds spanning more than the length of a football field.
• Neighborhood Features:
Themed garden spaces offering a wide variety of tropical foliage
• Dining/Entertainment Venues:
Chops Grille – our signature steak house
150 Central Park – exclusive dining
Giovanni’s Table – Italian trattoria
Park Café – indoor/outdoor gourmet market
Vintages – our ever popular wine bar
Trellis Bar – featuring the Crystal Canopy
Rising Tide bar – the first levitating bar at sea
• Boutique Shopping:
Specialty store
The Parkside Gallery – showcasing original artwork
Picture This – a unique portrait studio
• New Accommodations:
254 Central Park View balcony staterooms
70 Central Park View staterooms"

And, all this is just 1 deck on the ship!

I want to sooo bad. We may next year. We have been on two RCCL cruises (Mariner and Explorer) and they were GREAT!!! Loved them.

Liberty is not a sister ship to Oasis, the sister ships to Liberty are the Independence and the Freedom. The Allure will the sister to Oasis. This class of ship is much larger than the Liberty/Freedom/Independence.

We are going on Oasis next November. I'm looking forward to it. RCCL is our favorite cruiseline and RCCL handles large crowds very well with good design and great use of space.

Thx for reminder plutolovr, I indeed apologize for my wording :worship:! Having cruised four classes of RCCL you'd think I'd remember which ones are sisters! :rotfl2:

Good Morning America is broadcasting from the Oasis this morning!

Does anyone else wonder why something that big even floats? ;)

That is so cool! I hope that those of you sailing will post what it was like afterwards.

Nope - I was on ships bigger than that for 6 years, and they had airplanes :lmao:

There's live feed of it on a station here at work. Nothing exciting, but something to look at during my lunch.

I have a friend on it right now--the pictures that she's putting on her FB are amazing!

I'm not on FB, but I would love to hear all about it. Maybe you can post some of her thoughts/experiences? Thanks!

Go to the boards on cruisecritic.com. They have an Oasis board and there are some people posting pics from the ship.

I love RCCL and actually loved the Freedom of the Seas, but something about this ship seems wrong. I think its just too big and I also think it is sooo ugly. I know I know on paper it sounds outstanding and those inside Balcony cabins but the price range is truly insane especially in these times but hey its good if people are booking them.

I would love to at least see the ship as for sailing on it, that is a whole nother story.

Who knows, but I was really scared I would get sick, but I had no problem. My dd's room rocked, she had a stateroom that looked out towards the front of the ship. We barely felt any motion, except for early one morning, when we sailed through Tropical Depression Ana. The captain announced in the morning and asked how everyone faired sailing through the storm.:rotfl:

Does anyone know if they have the dock done in Haiti? It wasn't this past August, and someone said, they wanted it done for the Oasis.

Besides family, my husband has three great passions in life:
- food
- sleep
- swimming

So as you might imagine, cruising is his paradise. We are big travelers but cruising was a tough sell with him at first. I practically had to shove him up the boarding gangplank the first time we went, back when we first started dating. Seven days later, I had to shove him back down the disembarkation. If he had his way, we'd live on RCCL. I don't know how my 6'1", 170 lb husband manages to eat 10 meals a day on board and still manage to sleep 10 hours per day, get bronzed, and entertain me, but somehow he manages. :)

We're going on the Oasis on November 6, as part of a dazzlingly fun tour group we cruise with about once a year. It's going to be a big year of cruising for us: I'm also kidnapping him for our honeymoon onto the Navigator this January (he doesn't know yet - my friends are helping to decoy him with a fake plan), and in May, for my 30th, we're going to Barcelona and getting on the Adventure to go first west (Marseille, Ibiza) and then east (Monte Carlo, Florence). SUPER EXCITED!!!

Super! I had no idea how I could get her FB pictures posted here.

There is also a young man doing a live broadcast from the 2 day sailing going on right now. And another that posted lots of great pictures. Both on the Oasis of the seas board.

Wow! You're not kidding! Pics, videos, loads of discussion and everything else. I've already learned a bunch about the Oasis that will help so much when we cruise on her in March. Thanks so much.
