OK after years of using a tin can on a bit of string I finally have a tri-band phone so can use it to text back home to say we landed safely etc. I have a Pay & Go phone from O2 and was told when I purchased it that i would need to let them know before I went abroad.
Is this really the case? DH never notified them before when we went to WDW.

Also does anyone know how the blinking blunking heck you notify them? The website takes you round in circles if you try to find out on there and I'm loathe to contact them or I'll have them on the phone every 2 minutes trying to flog me a sand-proof phone case or ice-cream resistant screen protector or some other such junk!

I'm with Virgin and had to just notify them I think online to turn roaming on so I would imagine that is what 02 will have to do, more so if you are Pay as you go

I'm with Virgin too (have had the same PAYG sim for around 15 years, just transfer it when I get a new phone!) and had to phone them initially to ask for the roaming to be turned on but see now that there's a facility on my account to do it online. If you do have to phone O2 don't worry too much about the hard sell, I've had to contact them a few times about my mum's phone and they've always been fine.
