I have been wearing contacts for at least 20 years. I usually have had no problem with them. I often get the long wearing type. Last month I went to see a new doc and he prescribed me the O2 Optix, which are supposed to be better for your eyes and allows them to breath better. I am also supposed to be able to wear these for a 2 week period.

I hate them. They irritate my eyes; my eys are constantly foogy, dry and burn. I find myself wearing my glases for the most part. Has anyone else had problems with these lenses??? I can only wear them for about 6 hours before I have to take them out. I have been using the moisture drops also.

My bf tried them for a month and hated them as well. He went back to his old kind. He said he felt that they were too big for his eye and irritating. He went back to his ultra flex 2's and is so much happier. When he was on those O2's it was a month of male PMS!

I've been wearing them for over a year with no problems. Maybe your allergic to the moisture drops?

Thanks, I think I will be calling my doc and getting a new brand. I have had severe bacterial infections in my eye before, and its the same type of irritation and pain. I have tried changing my contacts out twice this week. My eyes are fine without the glasses and my conjunctiva is healthy looking. This is ocuring in both my eyes, so i am pretty positive its the contacts.

I was having the problem for a week before I bought the drops.
I have been using the drops now with my glasses and have had no problem. Its just this sandpapery feeling in my eyes when I wear them.

I've had them the last 10 months or so. I'm not a big fan. I bought the entire year and am trying to tough it out, but I'm definitely asking for something else when I go back. I've worn a lot of different brands and these are by far the most uncomfortable.

I wear Acuvue2 since I can't wear my gas perms anymore. I tried the o2 and had similar issues; the optometrist says that's fairly normal and not everyone can wear all lenses.

So I am back to my Acuvue2 and they work just fine - I did try a few of the other new ones and didn't like them much either.

You may want to switch back to whatever works best for you.

I have been wearing O2 Optix for about a year now and never have had any problems. I never have had to use any kind of moisture drops either. What kind of solution are you using?

I wear them and LOVE them. They are the only ones that don't dry out my eyes, and stay in properly (I have slight astigmatism in both eyes). Try Acuvue Oasys if the O2s aren't working for you as they are supposed to be slightly better.

I had them and hated for most of the reasons above!!!! My dr said alot of people have been having problems with them. I went back to acuvue and have been happy even since! :sunny:
