Hitting the States on Saturday with the girls for a little shopping. Does anyone know if Walden Galleria is worth it? Are there deals to be had? I was also thinking of going to Publix (hear so much about Publix on the podcast). Does anyone know what the Publix is like in Buffalo?

Thanks!

Publix is in the southern states. It is TOPS or Wegmans that you have for groceries.
I was at Walden last Saturday. Get there early it's really busy. I only bought something in Sears. Lots to look at though. Bath and Body is there.
I bought most of my clothes at Kohl's this time.

Have fun shopping!

We go every year down to buffalo to do some shopping the Walden Galleria is jus a mall just like in canada the prices are not the best sales ever you would be alot better of at the prime outlets or Fashion oultes it is the same place just after the lewiston bridge

Hi we are planning on doing a girls day this month and the only good thing at the mall is Hallister for our girls. We just love Target and Walmart and those are where we also pick up our groceries. Big Lots is great, its like our Liquidation World here.

I go over shopping every two weeks - love Walmart and Target (just up the street from the Galleria Mall). My daughter and I really enjoy the Galleria - Aeropostale, Hot Topic, Kirklands, Bath & Body Works, JC Penney and Old Navy always have great deals compared to shopping in Canada. She loves Wet Seal too. They have great new movie theaters, and we love to hit the Cheesecake Factory while there too! If you want to hit Target and Walmart, when you leave the Galleria from the JC penney side, turn right and it's on your right over the overpass (Target is). Walmart's further down two lights on your left.
Have fun! I'm spoiled, we leave 5 min. from the border, but I love it!!

Forgot to add, if you want a lot of choices for stores, restaurants, and groceries, shop on Transit Road, just a couple of exits past the Galleria exit (believe it's exit 49, you can mapquest it). There's a Walmart Supercenter where I usually get my groceries, Target, the Eastern Hills mall, and tons of other stores along that route. Lots of great restaurants too (we love Cracker Barrel, TGI Fridays and Quaker Steak & Lube).

Walden Galleria is way too packed and I do not find the deals to be that great. Usually we hit the Outlet Mall on Military Rd. And then we head to Boulevard Mall. Has a lot of the same stores as WG but smaller and much less busy.
Plus right near the Boulevard Mall is a Target, Babies R Us, and a lot of the other larger stores you might need.
Check it out, I'm telling you much nicer than WG.

I'm with many of the other posters ... we hit Target across from Walden Galleria, then we hit the main mall (with limited success, but I so love Macy's it doesn't matter if I don't buy anything). Then we'll do the Boulevard Mall, just because it is smaller and a bit more manageable, and on another day we'll do the outlet mall in Niagara Falls. Again, it's hit and miss .. but we always come away with something good for a member of the family.

I have to agree with the other posters WG is fine for shop looking but Transit Road and the Boulevard Mall area are the best for buying.
We shop for the DGC at Kohl's they seem to have the best and up to date clothing at huge discounts( the winter clothing should be 60-80% off about now) and their jumping beans clothing for the up to 8 years of age is usally 30-50% off to start.
They also carry some of the nicest women's clothing (according to my DW) for large women at a fraction of the price here in Canada.
The Boulevard area has a lot of stores but can get busy by 10:00 a.m. with traffic.
The one thing I have to give the U.S. is when they have a sale they really have a sale not like up here where $2.00 of is considered a huge discount.:rotfl:
Wal-Mart super centers are the best for everyday items at great prices, milk bread( when was the last time you saw an .84 cent loaf of bread?) cheese and dry goods are usally priced very cheap.
My vote for lunch Old Countery buffet to pig out or Red Lobster on Maple Ave. there is no comparision between the U.S. version and Canadian, U.S. wins hands down for service, taste and portion size.:scared1: there huge!!
Enjoy!!

-Ollies
-Target
-Marshalls
-Wegmans

You may want to rethink this Saturday as its March break and you'll probably be waiting 1-2 hours plus at the border to cross!!!!:scared1:
