O/T Keeping the kids big and small amused ipad?

I know this is off topic but am totally rubbish with technology and am sure somebody here will know. How do you put dvd's onto an ipad? What software do I need? Never bother taking things away with us but have never flown long haul before ... yes I know I have over a year to figure it out!

Any help much appreciated

Sorry, I'm not sure either but we tried for ages to 'rip' DVDs onto the laptop to transfer to iTunes before our last DLP trip, but just couldn't get it to work!

We tried a couple of programmes but don't like downloading unknown programmes too much due to viruses etc so gave up in the end.

Hopefully someone can come along with an idiots guide for us!

Most DVDs wont let you.

You will either have to have bought 'triple play' blu-ray films that include a digital copy of the film. Or you'll have to buy films from iTunes to put on there.

We must just be really daft as we couldn't even get the digital copy of 'Rio' that we had onto our iPad. It just kept vanishing!

I'm also very wary about downloading unknown software, that's why I thought I'd ask if anyone had any recommendations, I need to find a teenager to help me

If you google and include the word handbrake you will get lots of advice

Also if you have any films etc you've, erm, acquired, that are in an avi format, you can get players from iTunes that mean they need no conversion to an iPad friendly mp4

I use an app called playable pro. Works a treat....
