O/T Ipad Airport Security

Slightly off topic - has anyone taken an Ipad through UK airport security, specifically Heathrow? Did you have to take it out of your carry on bag and if so, did you have to take it out of its case? (I have a folio case.) I've been reading the TSA rules and it appears Ipads are not treated the same as laptops but I'm not sure about the UK. Thanks.

Took mine at gatwick, yes take out of vag same as laptop

We had 3 iPads go through security at Gatwick in May and they didn't ask for them out only DH's laptop.

Leave it in - they can always ask for you to take it out.

I had read TsA rules about iPad's not having to be removed from hand luggage . However at UK security and at USA security on an indirect trip this summer I was asked to remove iPad at every check.

Thanks, all. I think I'll leave it in my bag and see if they ask me to take it out. I've gone through security with my Kindle no problem but the Ipad is quite a bit bigger.
