I have 2 dogs that we always put in the kennel when we go away, and they stay together in a double crate.
We are going in March for 10 nights :lovestruc and they will have to stay 11-12 nights at the kennel :scared1: and my husband is slightly uncomfortable with the length of time they have to stay so I am contemplating having a lady come and stay with them instead as I think it will be the same cost....
How much do you guys pay per day for your dogs at the kennel....especially those who have more than 1 dog?
thanks....any info is good info....
:)

Hi MollySeven- Where do you fly out of?? If Syracuse then there is a lady (near the border) that we use and she is AMAZING!!! It costs $12.50 per day if you bring your own food and if not it's $16 a night.

We are flying out of Buffalo actually plus we need to be able to drop them off at home as we cannot fit them and the luggage in the car. I am really just wondering approx. what people pay for kennels or for having someone in to look after their dogs?
I think I usually pay 27.00 per day for both my dogs and of course we bring their own food for them...... this of course adds up after 12 nights PLUS by then they will be stinky and need to be bathed before pick up!!

For that amount I would hire somebody to stay in my house with them. Do you have a responsible niece or nephew or sister in law that wants to get away from her DH?? (the latter is what we use! :rotfl:) Best of luck!

I'm pretty sure my parents pay $15 a day each for their dogs to stay at the kennel. They love it there though, and the owners of the kennel treat the dogs like they are their own (they get to run and and play with the owners dogs). I'm sure it would be cheaper to have someone come in and look after the dogs at home, but the dogs have a great time at the kennel and my parents know they are well cared for so the extra cost is worth it to them.

well I guess 27 for both is probably a normal cost but it's the length of time that's hard. My one dog is a border collie/dalmation cross and she is a nervous nellie....she finds it stressful and it may be too long for her. My other is a newfie/flat coated cross and he is easy going and as long as he is with her he is fine.
I don't have any relatives or friends that I could ask....my parents do live a few doors away but it may be too much to ask them to be responsible for them every day for 12 days.....and I know they wouldn't take the money for it...I would feel too guilty.

I may ask a lady down the street who walks dogs but just don't know how comfortable I am having her live here ...mmmm.

We pay $18.00 to $20.00 per day to board one dog in Belleville, Ontario.

The $18.00 day kennel feeds the dog (they use the same food we do). The $20.00 per day is a cageless hotel for dogs, and we have to bring our own food.

We pay $26/day as the base rate and depending on the lenght of stay end up adding on a walk and playtime every day when we are gone longer then 5 days which makes it $31/day.

Our 'love of travelling' is the only reason we don't have a 2nd dog - I would love to get another one but we travel 2 to 3 times a year and that sure would add up. I'd love to have a family member that could take him but they've all grumbled about doing it enough that I won't ask again - and he's a very good dog too!!!:confused3

We also pay around $25/night for two dogs in the same kennel.

We pay $30 a day for 2 dogs in the same kennel and we bring our own food. The last time we went to Disney we put them in for 18 days and they were fine. But the kennels are full sized runs with an inside area to lay down and an outside area. Plus they are allowed to run around in a large open grassed area for an hour in the morning and an hour at night. I know the people who run it personally and they are great with animals so although we left them for a very long time we knew they were well looked after. Usually when we go for such a long time my Mom watches them but she came with us this time.

We have a black lab and a golden retreiver. For short weekend trips they go to a kennel which costs us $30 a night for both. For longer trips our golden stays with my parents and our lab stays with my uncle. It gets expensive quickly when you're paying on a per night basis. We're very thankful that our dogs get along with my parents cat and my uncles dog it makes things much easier on us.

We use Country Lane Pet Resort in Bowmanville, rates:
Large runs =Double occupancy 15/dog/day up to max 2 large dogs per run.

Small dog runs = Double occupancy 14/dog/day up to max 2 small dogs per run.

HTH!

We are in the same predicament. I found a nice kennel that will take both dogs. Problem is we have a 1 yr old golden retriever with tons of energy and a 14 yr old mix dog who would rather be at home. Probably be best to be together...wherever. We also have a cat to throw into the mix...so if we had someone come in to the house, they could all stay together.
