For any Indy DIS'ers... I need to find a meeting place on the north or south bypass around Indy (half way between Champaign, IL and Dayton, Ohio) to do a kid swap with friends. We were hoping for a Chuck E Cheese or a mall where we can hang out for a while and visit before swapping kids. Something not far off the route and easy to get to. Can anyone help me? You can PM me. (Our girls are 10, 11 and 12 so a mall might be our best option.) Thanks!

We are looking for a resort type place somewhere in that area as well -- someplace between Columbus, Oh and Wisconsin. If anyone knows of one, let me know.

We have done a child swap on 65, north of Indianapolis at a Cracker Barrell. I can't remember off the top of my head the exit number, the city begins with an L. I'll have to look on a map and let you know.

On the outerbelt of Indianapolis there is a Toys R Us and some other places, but I have found that it's WAY crowded with lots of traffic and is kinda hard to navigate if you are not familiar with the area, It's the Allisonville exit.

As far as a resort goes, there's a new hotel with an indoor water park on the NW side of Indy. See www.caribbeancovewaterpark.com Looks like fun.

You are right Allisonville Road is one major traffic jam.

As far as Chuck E Cheese goes, there is one (I think) in Greenwood. So if you are coming east on 74, I think that becomes 465 south if I remember right. Then on 465S, you would exit at highway 31S (east street). 31S takes you down into Greenwood. Chuck E Cheese's near the babies R us store. Maybe a 10 minute drive on 31.

If you go further south on 31 til you come to Whiteland, there's a pretty good miniature golf/gocart place. Then you could go to Franklin and take 44 east to get back on 74.

I'm out of ideas.

There is a Holiday Inn with an indoor water park near Michigan Rd. and 86th. It is lots of fun (been a while since we went) for families. The location is pretty close to 465 on the NW side of town.

Hmmm, I'm trying to remember what is around the belt. We stayed at the Holiday Inn/Caribbean Cove last year and it was great! But you have to stay one night at the HI to get access to the waterpark. I thought there was a CEC near the Castleton Square Mall (82nd street).

There is a Chuckie Cheese right across the street from the Caselton Square Mall, but I feel that area can be a zoo at times also (traffic, etc.).

Here is my suggestion:

It is located off of 465 on the Southside of Indianapolis. You take the Emerson Avenue exit (Beech Grove). They have tons to do at this park. There are several resteraunts in the area (the best BBQ place ever - GT South's, go south on Emerson Ave - http://gtsouths.com/aboutframe.htm).

There are also several hotels - A Holiday Inn, I believe. The traffic here is not so bad and is an easy on and off the express way. It also a pretty safe area.

Please PM me if you need more information. I'd be happy to help.

I just noticed the ages of your girls. There is mall in Greenwood (previous post mentioned this). All the major department stores, etc. There are also the big name resteraunts in this area such as Joe's Crab Shack, Outback, Chili's, Olive Garden, etc. It is not an easy on and off of 465. You would have to go on US31 (East Street exit) for atleast 10 miles to get to the mall.

Again, if you need more info, let me know. :)

On the northside, there is Castleton Mall, Fashion Mall, Chuck E Cheese, and lots of restaurants. All of those are pretty much right off of I 465. Downtown is the zoo and Children's Museum, but I'm not sure if you are wanting to stay that long. Like someone else said, Greenwood also has a mall and Chuck E Cheese but it's a little further off of 465. That's all I can think of right now. Let me know if you need anymore info :)
