Anyone been to Atlantis? Is it worth the money?

Anyone stayed at the Comfort Suites instead?

I have not been but two of my close friends have. One has been 3 times and loves it. The other went this summer as a quick family getaway and also loved it but said the food was astronomically expensive - one breakfast with a tip was in the range of 160 USD for the 4 of them. I have looked at the Comfort Suites before because of the continental breakfast and the lower $$$ to stay there with the Atlantis privledges. I think it is the way I would go if I were to vacation there. As t is I cannot convince my DH to go back to the Bahamas, he found it too hot, everything so expensive and would rather go to Hawaii or WDW, so that is what we do! I dont think you can go wrong at Comfort Suites so long as you are not expecting high end luxury.

We stopped there a couple of years ago as part of our 7 day Land/Sea package. The aquarium was interesting, but other than that ,we didn't find anything that would make us want to go back.

We spent a day there while on a cruise and it was amazing! We toured the hotel and were in awe. We went through the aquarium and then spent the day on the beach and have always vowed to go there one day. We didn't pay to use the waterpark because of our limited time, but it looked like a lot of fun.

Can you bring your own sandwiches into the Atlantis resort or do you have to eat their food?

Let me tell you, Atlantis is amazing!

We were there on our cruise a couple of years ago and we absolutely loved it, both the kids and us. We had kids 10, 6 and 3 and everyone had a great day. Think we had to pay a little extra for the 5th person but wasn't much if I remember right.

We actually booked the day seperate from the cruise as we had insight from a fellow Dis Meets member. We booked a room for the day and luckily got a great rate (don't know if that would happen everytime) but we got a room for about $140ish. With the room everyone has access to all the hotel amenities including wristbands to the waterpark, which is amazing, and then you have a place to leave your stuff, get changed, etc. You can get a taxi to there and we luckily jumped on a returning shuttle taking other guests back to the ships for nothing!

Food is good but extremely pricey and you can probably get away with bringing something in your bag to eat.

We are going back on a Disney Dream cruise in Feb. 2011 and doing a back to back 4 day/3day. Everyone wants to go back to do Atlantis both trips back to Nassau. They have a Lagoon and an aqarium with a variety of sea creatures including sharks. They also have a place to swim with the dolphins but when we were there the water in the lagoon with the Dolphins was so murky you wouldn't have seen the Dolphins until they were right next to you. If you were interested in doing this I would check out the conditions first before paying the $ to do it.

We did book a Comfort Suite room to begin with but we kept checking for deals at Alantis and when we found the final deal we went with and it turned out cheaper than Comfort Suites, which we then cancelled.

I highly recommend taking in Atlantis, you and your kids will have a great day, providing the weather cooperates, of course.

If you have any more ? I would be glad to answer them.

Gord

Does anyone know the cost of a taxi from the airport to Comfort Suites? Not sure it is worth to take the bus offered by Expedia for $200 there and back for the 4 of us??

Well I sure wouldn't pay $200 for any kind of transport to Paradise Island. It's only 15 or 20 min away. Maybe $20 or $30 taxi ride at the most. But will search the threads for info.

"In regard to the taxi's to Atlantis, you'll find any number of drivers at the end of the dock (before entering Festival Place) who will take you there. You might wait a moment or two there for other guests to fill the taxi and then follow the driver thru Festival Place to the waiting vehicle on the street outside. Cost is $4.00pp each way."

Found this quote on another thread.
