My DH is at his softball game and it's just my 19 mth old DD (who's sleeping)and myself in this big stupid house. I hate being home alone at night, it seems like every crack in the house has to act up when I'm alone. Anyone else feel the heeby jeebies kick in when they are alone at night?:scared1:

After DH working nights for more than half our marriage, I should be used to it, but sometimes it can be tough. I usually have no problem, but the windy stormy nights can be a bit spooky. I do have a HUGE German Shepherd though, and he makes me feel better. (Except for last night when the big baby slept on my bed during a thunderstorm! Yeah, I am SURE he was protecting me:rolleyes: )

birdiesunshine, you're not a baby! I hate it when the house creeks. I'm like What was that? Was that the door? Hate it when that happens! :scared:

Jeanne, LOLOL! :p

I do feel like that sometimes. I like having a guy around to be there. I lived by myself for 5 months and I HATED it. I missed companionship. You want to hear something funny. I was trying to be Miss Independant and I went to a movie all by myself. I was like, I can do this...well I saw "The Devils Advocte." I cried all night that someone wasn't there and I called my boyfriend (now DH) and I will never see another movie by myself!

So I am a baby too!LOL!\

I can't watch anything even remotely scary on television if I'm home alone at night! Having a big dog helps, though. :D

Sometimes DH would go on camping trips with my sons and their youth group. I would read a Patricia Cornwell book, scare myself silly and never get any sleep. I would get up several times with a can of hairspray in my hand and check all the closets and the bathrooms and the shower. I eventually cured myself of this disorder by only reading fun books when he was away. I would also only sleep on the couch when he wasn't home since the living room was near the door. I was really bad with this. Yep I'm a baby.

Once I read The Amityville Horror while DH was at work at night...DH was kind enough to buy it for me from a used book store. I got myself so freaked out by it that when DH came home, I made him go down the hall and throw the book down the trash chute. I convinced myself that the book might be haunted or possessed because of all the funny noises I heard when I was alone.

DH has NEVER let me live that one down. And he never got to read the book!

Ahhh, DH is on his way home. I can put the kitchen knife away and stop looking over my shoulder. :cheer2:
I'm glad to know I'm not the only scaredy cat out there.
Nighty night.

Me!!! I hate being home alone at night. Even worse, I hate staying overnight alone. :( I sleep with the phone when that happens.

Good thing you have the DIS! Hope he gets home soon!

Sometimes DF goes up home to visit his parents and I hear every single sound this house and the houses next to us make when he's not here. The unfortunate thing is that even if he was here, he's a big chicken too so I would be the one sent to check out the creaks and cracks.

Ohmigoodness, YES! I make sure every single lock and window are bolted as tight as possible and then "hole up" in one room for the night when I'm alone. I hate it!! :scared:

I'm all alone at home for the evening as we speak and quite content might I add :D I have the dog with me, he's a german shepard cross, I feel safe with him and all the doors are locked.

I live in an old house in the county...I hate it here at night alone...I mean I don't really get freaked out or anything, but sometimes I get the heeby jeebees. I think its mostly that I just enjoy interaction. I think one of the worst things in the world would be solitary confinement....theres just something about being around others that makes life mroe livable...

Jungle Josh :D

I used to have a 120 lb German Shepherd and when he was alive I wouldn't be afraid for me, but the fool that would try to break into my house, because my dog would have killed him. We even slept with the sliding glass door open (screen closed) when he was alive because I felt that safe.

After we had to very unexpectadly put him to sleep at the age of 5 (he had lymphnoma) I felt so alone and scared when my DH wasn't home. He was my alarm system!!! The days of keeping doors unlocked were immediately over.

When we move in a couple months we are getting an alarm system for that house because I feel to vulnerable without my beloved dog with me. So.....you are not a baby because I get scared too.
