Heatwave! It's already 91. Brenda, my SIL from Morgan Hill said her dad told her it was very hot there, too.

I took my neices for their first pedicures, and I have some pics to share. Also pics from the American Girl dinner last night.

Off to do some shopping with the girls.

Good day to all!

What a surprise seeing Jesse there with his AG doll :lmao:

JK! LY Jesse MI!

I found some pics from our cruise today that I'd never seen!

I'll have to post them since one is actually from the Banana Boat excursion!

Sort of: Jesse must have been hamming it up with the girls when I wasn't looking...you'll know what I mean when you see them...

Wow those pictures were a treat! Brittany looks so much younger. That ghostly one is pretty cool.

They all already look so much younger~

I thought you'd get a kick out of the photo of your boys!

Brittany was *really* happy to see them when I showed her~

Good morning!

I'm babysitting my baby nephew today!!! Chad took off work today to take my brother and family to the Times Square area just to walk around and see the sights. My brother rolled his eyes when his wife Kristin wanted to go, because this is all old and boring to him, having been born and raised here, but he did want his girls to see it all. I was thinking of later on putting the baby in the stroller and meeting them, but it's going to be in the mid-80s today, and still too hot to take the baby out. He gets prickly heat, so we'll just stay home and keep cool.

Ok, cruise talk!
I've decided to definitely do the cooking class with Josephina in Cozumel. I've posted some comments about it that I found. If anyone would like to join me, please do. If not, I'll either see if I can jump in with a group from CruiseCritic, or just do it solo. It really seems to be a unique experience that isn't touristy, and is in a real local neighborhood. I wanted to do the dolphin swim, but that can be done in other places at a later time on another vacation.

I'm going to email Josephina and get some details about the times it's offered for our day in Cozumel.

The cooking class involves a trip to the town Mercado, the traditional shopping and walking back to the waterfront will expose you to more of the real Mexico, the businesses that locals use, a real cultural experience that few get to see.

Taxis are everywhere and extremely regulated by the union. Clean cars, neatly groomed drivers are strictly required and a better chance of getting a taxi driver that speaks English than most parts on the U.S.

Well I went on the cooking class last week. I'd say between 2 1/2 to 3 hours total. It starts at the municipal Mercado for shopping. This is where the locals shop for the freshest produce and some exotic things not available in the supermarket. This part might take up to 30 minutes as there are lots of questions learning new foods and many vendors will have samples to try.

The group then walks the three short blocks to the kitchen. Sauces and guacamole come first to have snacks with lots of Jamaica punch to drink. The people participate in different parts of the preparation of the components, I confess I had never prepared cactus before, now I know. Depending on the meal, you finish with a nice lunch you have all assisted in preparing. When the class ends, you could continue the cultural experience and walk back the four blocks to the square and see the normal stores that cater to the needs of the locals. Taxis are all over, so it is an easy walk or jump into a cab and they'll take you where you want to go.

Josephina even fixed an authentic margarita.

I've taken the class as well. It's great! The trip to the market is very informative and fun. The class is well organized and the final product is excellent.

My only "constructive criticism" is that I wish Josephina would provide written recipes to accompany the class.

That said, it isn't hard to follow along and take notes so that you can re-create the recipe when you get home. Just bring a couple of pieces of paper and a pen with you.

CLASS FEES (cost of ingredients included)

Private Classes (your group only) 2-4 people: $79.00 per person, 5-6 people: $69.00 per person

Public Classes (5 people max) $69.00 per person

Individual Private Classes, one on one with Josephina: $125

I went to youtube.com, typed in Josephina Cooking Cozumal, and found many videos of this excursion! Here's a link to the market, it's a short video.

Hey folks - Artman - don't have restaurants picked out yet but working on that in my free time. I gotta call next week, like you, and this time we decided to do the deluxe dining plan since there are several signature restaurants we want to do. Plus we figure we probably wouldn't get to do much riding, etc. so might as well enjoy the character interactions, etc. at meals.

Tigger - your pictures are great. I know I have hit you up before about bugging you on the cruise about some tips. I'm very much an amatuer but I have luckily gotten great pictures due to a good camera. My biggest thing is night pictures but I'm working on them.

Asling - will add you guys to the Fish Extender this week when I pull down he site to update again. Also - that is pretty neat you guys did the AG thing - my daughter is to young for the larger ones but her grandmother, when she was 3, bought her the bitty baby items so she enjoys those.

Well we had Sydney's birthday party this weekend - went well except hot - with humidity it was around 100. Gotta love Missouri/Southern Illinois weather.

But the big news was on her actual birthday, Friday, she fell at school and injured her hand. They didn't call me as it didn't look bad and she stopped crying (plus when they were going to tornado sirens went off). After much contemplating and feeling like she just jabbed it we ended up going to ER (after talking with doctor via phone). Turns out she has two broken fingers - nice. The good news was we were in and out of the ER in less than 2 hours - only about 1.5 hours - that is record time in all my years. We go to see the pediatric ortho doc tomorrow to find out what is the next step. Gym and piano are out for the time being.

Also took Shay, our husky with the lump, to get echo cardio and it turns out its "just" fat that is around his chest area. It's very common apparently in older dogs (he is 12). So doctor said lets just wait and see how he does because the radiologist and cardiologist do not feel worried about the Horners that causes his one eye to be a little smaller right now. So hopefully we got a few more years.

Asling - I know you and your family will be staying at the WL the day of the cruise (checking out that is). You guys thought about how you will get to the boat? I'm wondering if you guys would be interested (and anyone else) in combining funds and sharing a van, service, etc. The reason I am asking so far in advance is because I am looking at which restaurants to eat at and if we have time in the morning for a character breakfast the day we leave (like at 7/730ish).

Anjelica,
I'm interested in sharing transportation with you. So we'd need at least a 10-passenger limo/van. Have you checked out prices yet?

I hope we both get everything we want, etc. I've never had an issue getting something before but since this is one of the more busier times I am getting a tad bit nervous.

Let me dig around and see what kind of prices I can find.

I forgot to mention that we are most likely going to fly in and therefore need the transport - BUT I'm not 100% sure yet until SW releases airfare - so in about a week or so I will know whether we will be driving or flying. Even then I have contemplating driving down in a rental and dropping it off after two days and then flying home (airfare should be cheaper by then).

We have been at WDW the last three years at Christmas time. No trouble with ADR's so far, we always make one at Le Cellier for Christmas Eve and then cancel it after we get a Candlelight package. We saw Gary Sinise the last two years, he was great but would like to see someone else.

Don't jinx it Artman - Aisling TOTALLY is hoping to see Gary Sinise....

I've been crazy busy getting ready for our trip to italy AND all the extra stuff at work....hope all is well with everyone...

Aisling - hope that Chad will call our hotel or my cell so we can take him to dinner next thursday...i know he's probably been even busier than me since he leaves tomorrow. Also, are we on for lunch at JFK on the 27th? I'll catch up more over the wkend...
PS - Aisling, yes it is HOT HOT HOT here...but that is good for berries & we are busy producing stuff like crazy too!!!

I got a job interview tomorrow!

Wish me luck :woohoo:

Brenda, Ryan and Chad- Bon Voyage Mi Amore~

Even funnier was the conversation he had with Paul the next day at Plutos while getting their wives chicken strips...something about Paul telling him that he could have his wife (me) and the reply was something like dude she's all yours. It is much funnier in my head, I can't remember the words but we all laughed a bit at my own expense. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
