Ok, I am starting to get stressed about NYE and what is going to be available at 7mths.

I currently have a cash booking at Hard Rock Hotel, which I want to cancel as I have decided that with two small children I don't want to be there for NYE.

I also know I don't want to attempt the crowds at a theme park (we will have had 12 days of theme parks earlier in Dec and our park tickets will have expired anyway).

We will be coming off of the DCL and we will be heading on to HP world at UO after NY- so we could probably do with a couple of relaxing, 'calm down' days!!

I had thought of an ocean view room at VB, and then I thought of a Boardwalk view room at BWV (neither of which I am expecting to be able to get at 7mths anyway!!)

But does anyone else have any ideas of what a couple with two young boys could do on NYE - I had also thought we could try a couple of nights at OKW and get the boat to DTD for a movie and dinner at TRex - might that be an option - how is DTD on NYE??

Many thanks for any thoughts or suggestions!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Not sure what's best for you to do, but I can tell you that I have points at BWV and BLT and neither one has a studio available right now for NYE. (and that's outside the 7 month window!) Only thing available is a 1BR at BLT and for 60 points, I don't think so.
I'm trying to ponder much the same thing. We're in FLA beginning 12/16, staying at BWV until the 24th, then staying with friends. Not sure when we're coming home yet. I was thinking since we will not likely be at WDW for NYE again in the near future, it might be nice to spend the night there. But I'd prefer to stay somewhere that I don't have to take the buses. Good luck with your decision.

thanks for posting - I will stop getting too excited about one of the Epcot resorts for NYE then!!:goodvibes

I am actually beginning to find OKW quite appealing, as we really aren't into loud crowded places, so perhaps a movie, dinner and boat ride to DTD from here might be a nice way to spend the day - I am going to keep my fingers crossed for either OKW or VB and hope one works out!

We are gong to AKV for our first NYE trip with family and will have 3 kids 7 and 8 yrs old. We're also looking for things to do NYE and was thinking of Calif Grille with or without the kids. I'm guessing its hard to get dinner ressie there for that night so would like to hear other options.

Actually I was playing around with the online ADR's last year(early December I believe) and was actually able to see a spot for a late dinner at Cali Grill on NYE for 4 people. So it might be possible.

For relaxing "down" time, I definitely wouldn't pick BWV on NYE. There's a huge dance party on the green -- very very loud and boisterous (well assuming they continue that anyway). We walked by around 12:30 or 12:45 AM on NYE 2008 and it was in full swing - not sure when it ended, we were heading back to BCV.

Last year we procrastinated and waited, in DVC time, til the last minute to make our reservations at OKW, our home resort. We were placed on a wait-list and, fortunately, it came through.
