NYE - Fun early night?

We're thinking about dring NYE at Universal this year and staying on site at RPR. We're not sure our kids (12 & 14) will be up for a late night at the parks or that we'll be tolerant of the super heavy crowds in the evening. What would be fun to do for a family outside the parks, especially if we decide to make an early-ish evening? I don't need a party or anything fancy, though that could be fun. But anything a little special we can see or do around the resorts or Citywalk that's appropriate for families would be great.

City walk does have a big gala for NYE, fee involved for the party

It will be super busy........definetely book your hotel sooner rather than later. 2 years ago we had friends staying at Universal over that time period and tried to add another night and couldn't as they were fully booked.

Mini golf at Citywalk is fun. There are 2 themes.......one is an alien side and the other is a haunted theme. They are both very good and can pass a couple of hours easy.

If you're not fussed about the NYE party in Citywalk, have dinner in any of the resorts restaurants......
