NYE.....Disney or Universal?

Have 2 big kids (14 yr old daughter & 28 yr old high functioning autistic son).

Which would your kids prefer? If the trip is a surprise, then obviously, asking them won't work.

I would prefer the Mouse because their fireworks and holiday decorations are really spectacular, but the crowds are a bit overwhelming.

I would avoid the parks on new years eve since they all reach capacity. it might be too overwhelming for your son. are you staying on or off site

Just in the planning stage. We've been to DW several times but not during holidays except when daughter was 4-5 yes old. It is to be part of Christmas gift so can't ask them. We've never been to US but thinking about doing the Harry Potter Package. They're both wanting to go to the HP part of Universal....they hoooo & ahhhh every time the commercials come on.

where are you staying. if you are on site I would do epcot for new years eve since it's a bigger park.

Honestly, Universal really doesn't do much. This past year they didn't do anything at IOA and at the Studios they handed out hats & horns and did their normal Cinematic Spectacular show with a countdown at midnight and maybe a few extra fireworks. it really wasn't anything to write home about. And since most of the show takes place on the water/water screens, the viewing areas are pretty limited. So if you're looking for fireworks and a spectacle, you'd be better off at Disney. Just be prepared for crowds.

Then stay at Universal! When we went we stayed at the Hard Rock. It is an easy 5ish minute walk back to the hotel if your son is overwhelmed.
