NYE dinner outside of park then DHS?

For NYE I've currently got reservations for the early Spirit of Aloha at the Polynesian at 5 and then the Frozen Osborne Street Lights dessert party from 8-9:30. I'm staying onsite at the Poly.

My original plan was to do the Luau and then just watch the NYE fireworks from the beach (and avoid the parks at all costs!) But I couldn't easily fit in seeing the Osborne Lights on any other day (actually there IS one evening earlier in the week on our arrival day but that's MK day and that'll really pack the schedule) and this breaks the evening up.

Granted there's a chance that DHS will reach capacity but how likely is that really?

I'd put the odds at just under 36.7%.

We have done NYE at HS the past two years, we usually have dinner at Cape May and then go to HS. In 2012 we entered at 10p and in 2013 at 9p without any problems.
