Can anyone recommend something for NYE with kids. Its me, DH, DS(10), DD(8). We usually don't go out that night, just eat CS because we leave the next day. This year we leave on the 3rd, so we need something for NYE (just dinner time, not really late). There are quite a few openings-suprising, just not sure what kids would like to do. Also we are not on the dining plan, the kids just don't really eat much to pay for our DS who is a Disney Adult. Thanks so much for any help, my brain is tired of making dining reservations!

We can be, we were not sure about the crowds, I'm assuming that HS or AK would be "less" crowded (Ha, Ha) than Epcot or MK?

We were in Epcot for NYE 2014/15. It was absolutely insanely crowded, but I must say one of the best shows we've ever seen. What about dinner at one of the Epcot resorts and and then if you want you can go to either Epcot or HS after.

I think for any parks with holiday fireworks you run the risk of not being able to get in if you're not in there all day, so you need to decide if you want to do that or not. Maybe not for AK though, not sure about HS.

Honestly I'd probably be looking for something low key myself and pick one a resort meal. Narcoossees is available if you want a special meal but lots of the secondary (non signature) are also available, like Grand Floridian Cafe and Kona Cafe and Ale & Compass... and the nicer restaurants at the Swan and Dolphin are also available.

How do you envision spending the night?

Where are you staying? Might be some resort activities? I’d check that out. We were in Epcot this past New Years for an early dinner and exited a bit after the early fireworks. Crowds were already intense and as a larger group we split up to have 1:1 adult:kid ratio- no way could all of us (8+) stuck together easily in the crowd (partial cause may have been timing and exodus after early fireworks). We left and happily spent the rest of the night at our resort, Boardwalk - which had a dance party going on. The grownups sat on the porch with some champagne and paper cups and the kids danced their hearts out on the green with the DJ dance party. At midnight the resort handed out noise makers and partial fireworks were visible from the Boardwalk.

I can't imagine being at WDW on NYE and not going to MK or Epcot, even with kids, unless they are very young (8 & 10 would be fine IMO).

If midnight is too late for the kids, I would suggest doing the early Fantasy in the Sky at MK, having dinner somewhere, then calling it a night. Otherwise, do that on the 30th and spend NYE at Epcot.

It wasn't planned that way (illness) but we wound up ordering from room service and watching the fireworks in place. Laid back and I could use up as many tissues as Housekeeping could provide.
Was it as much fun as the Monsieur Paul dinner I had hoped we'd attend? I'll let you know at the end of this year. Maybe;).

Again, depending on where you are staying, a resort meal may be the way to go. Low key but fun.

Where are you staying? If you weren't planning on being in a park, I wouldn't go out of my way to get to one that evening. I would pick something easy to get to.

Thanks for the idea of Ale and Compass, I think I'll run it by everyone!

I love the idea of the Boardwalk! Someone else suggested Ale and Compass, that would put us close to walk over to Boardwalk, I knew everyone would have great ideas!!!

Thanks to everyone!!:thanks: This was an easy decision for DH and kids! We are booked for Ale and Compass at 7:40p, then we are going to walk over to the Boardwalk and see what's there!! The kids are so excited about staying up for the dance party or whatever else they may have going on there!
